I am almost 40. Never got the time of day from women in my 20s. In my thirties became a farmer. My income has fallen dramatically. My dating choices are non existent but I enjoy my work. I will probably never marry. Not being married , means you do not have to worry about supporting a family which means you do not have to worry as much about the rat race.

Nope, I quit engineering to become a farmer. I like my job better but my dating life sucks. I like my life. I think my work is useful and helps people. I like being my own boss. I like spending all day with my dogs. As you get older you stop giving a fuck about being single. I would rather be single then have complete bitch of a wife.

There is not an even number of men and women. 1) Slightly more boys than girls are born. 2) More men go to prison 3) Men are more likely to die in accidents (motorcycles). They have more dangerous jobs ( cop, fisherman, soldier, farmer, roughneck). 4) I think more men than women are gay. So as time goes on the population of men decreases.

It is not that easy to get a civil engineering license. You have to pass the fe/eit exam, work under a licensed engineer for 4 -5 years, and then pass the pe exam. Then you need to get insurance. Not worth it to save 1000 dollars for a stamp.

I am in the same boat as you. However, even if I never meet anyone or marry I know my life has worth and is worth living. I work on my parents farm . The work is not glamorous or well paying, I do help people and learn new things. My advice to you is to find something to take care of. A dog , cat , beehive or even a houseplant creates something that needs you and when something needs you it is easy to see your life has purpose.
