I have a friend and class-mate who is openly feminist. She is just as flabbergasted by this controversy as I am, and feels he had nothing to apologize for. I'm fairly certain the only ones actually putting this guy down are tumblr-types.

I'm assuming you would see a similar response in a low-class white area too though.

A lot of people play too much. Yes, I know that can be said of most anything, but video games can be extremely addictive. Instead of downvoting, maybe defend your position and explain why I'm wrong? I'm open minded.

And yet you always hear people talking about American accents.

This sub really has turned into /r/tumblrinaction.

Yeah and stuff like this really isn't helping the reputation of this sub.

It's an analogy, and an apt one at that. It isn't supposed to be taken literally.

Yes. Also, for the second picture, more men died because there are a obviously more male rescue workers than female and it really doesn't mean anything other than that.

Ah so my porn is likely to blame then.

Holy irony. The ad at the top was one of those "find local singles" deals.

So, being all women, they completely left out all the physicists who reshaped our understanding of the universe; Dirac, Planck, Einstein, Schrodinger and more. This is fucking disgraceful.

Someone on facebook was praising this, I pointed out it's inherent sexism with links showing men get abused and are targets of violence. I get called, hateful, misogynistic, elitist....siiigggghhh.

Sounds like a rape inquisition. Frankly, I'm surprised it's not more common.

I'm going to guess it's a troll.

I have a foot fetish. This would make me sad.

Does anyone have a link to that study that they mentioned?

I'm so confused about Whoopi lately. Sometimes I hate her guts, and setimes she says something like this that makes me like her for the moment. Plus she was Guinan.

Why would it matter what the sex was? It's still murder.

Well she isn't what would be traditionally considered hot. She's not unattractive.

I thought the exact same thing. That line really bothered me, as I do play a fair amount of video games, but I'm also a physics major and I do 25-30 hours of homework a week.

In any case, I call men bitch as well as women. What say you to that?

I hope you didn't get that impression from me. I certainly would not blame women or minorities if I were to fail. I am just frustrated by the fact that these sexist practices not only exist, but there are people who feel it should exist. I am doing quite well in school and have two years worth of research experience, so I am fairly certain if I don't get in there is probably someone who simply bested me.

No, that was just an example where it would have been nice to have proof. This issue has bothered me since high school.

What point is this bringing up? Unless I'm missing something huge, there have been black people in ads like this for as long as I can remember, it's not that big of a deal.

I first came to these conclusions in tenth grade when I had the most liberal, uber-feminist english teacher to ever walk the earth. I only discovered this subreddit a month ago, so I've been frustrated on my own for a while now.
