I can't say I'll miss some of the bone crunching that a certain type of bloke uses to check if you're a 'real man'. You couldn't shake a lady's hand in a vice like grip like this because you'd break it. Shakes these days seem pretty limp. In Germany, when you get to the office or particularly the break room, you are expected to shake everybody's hand. Nietzsche used the language of the Lutheran bible for full dramatic rhetorical effect since it has a prophetic tone. This often comes across as much more dated in translation than in the original, since German still operates with 'thee and thou'.
