While I’m not sure that it would explain the whole difference it seems plausible that your theory could explain part of the difference. User Nodoxxintoxin’s post below about young women having sex with other women could also be a small part of the puzzle. From a more primal evolutionary psychological perspective a guy would rather be the guy that bangs five 5/10s as this historically would increase his chances of reproductive success. I can’t say that I’m a frequent visitor of TRP, but, from what I have read a lot of it does not seem that controversial for anyone that has read even a little bit of evolutionary psychology. At least as far as sex and short-term mate choice goes, which really boils down to biology. Humans are societally monogamous (most of the civilized world the past centuries/millennia that is) and sexually polygamous. When you say that women are getting less sex, do you mean that as in fewer instances of intercourse? Or did you accidently mistype “less” instead of “more”? All the research and surveys that I have seen, including the one discussed here, indicate that women on average are having more and more sexual partners. Many of the same studies do however also say that on average women today are having less sex than women 30 years ago. I think that you might be on to something as far as the decrease in infidelity goes. As I stated in my original post various surveys have shown that fewer and fewer people are in committed relationships. It would thus not be farfetched to think that the ones that actually choose to establish a relationship are the ones that really want it and more likely have the, as you put it, “attributes making the relationship last longer”. As for the conundrum “should women be allowed to fart?” I have always (as far back as I can remember) had a firm belief that the answer to the question is no. As we all know women farting results in more methane gas in the atmosphere which in turn contributes to global warming.
