I know this shit is scary and it fucking sucks I’ve been literally sitting here shaking for the last 30 mins since I read your comment. Trying to regain control over my emotions the way u/partwolf showed me how many moons ago. You can start to mentally check out and start living your single life so the adjustment isn’t so hard And this is good actionable advice. It’s been almost 20 years since I was single. Time flies.

You're avoiding talking about your relationship because you haven't killed the puppy. True. You're avoiding the major issues and taking the easy way out by hanging out at a skate park and going to the gym.' True. You're only fooling yourself. True. Why keep wasting time? You're afraid to act and all that's doing is fucking you over. True. Shit or get off the pot. And, true. I needed to hear that.

Up until this point I've got too much going on to be overly interested in having a wet dick ... sure, it would be nice but if it's not going to happen then I'm going to put my efforts into building a life where it does happen. So that's where I've been spending my time. And if I'm going to learn game then I might as well have a worthy opponent. And at the end of the day, if it doesn't work out then I've prepared myself and used my time wisely.

I see the confusion. Fair comment. When I write these OYS comments, I don't have a goal or objective. It's really a stream of thought that's vomited onto the page. Trust your gut, make decisions, stick to the plan, and reevaluate. I think you've just given me my mantra for the week!

I'm currently running it, feel free to reach-out if you have questions. I'm still in the early stages, and I won't waste your time on answering beginner crap. Once things settle down, I might hit you for some more meaningful guidance. it seems like you are LARPing Yes, this could well be the case. Your comment made me realise I'm using a shotgun approach lacking focus. I'd like friends, so I need to focus on that outcome.

Be honest with yourself. Always good advice. I took a day to reflect on your comments, and I'm more certain now that the right decisions were made, in large part because my business decision making has been consistent for an extended period of time. Although that's not apparent from my OYS. Learn to trust your feelings but not your whims and emotions. What do you see as the differences between feelings and emotions? To me they're the same thing, but perhaps I'm missing the nuance.

Yes, changing from Stronglifts to GZCL. Last week was my first week of GZCL so I'm in the middle of a culture shock. I appreciated Stronglifts and it was the right place to start. I decided early on that I would re-evaluate after the 12 week program, and I considered three programs ... continue with Stronglifts, a PPL program I found on r/fitness and GZCL. I deliberatedly chose GZCL after laying out the pros and cons of each. I hear what you're saying with regard to consistency, but this decisio…

(4) she earns significantly more than me (she would be top 0.5% income where as I am in the top 10% so it’s not like I’m starving) Something that u/RStonePT pointed out in his youtube sidebar series is that it's no longer about resources; Women have (more or less) equal earning potential so it's not a meaningful differentiator. Rather, it's about status with our social peer groups.

Did you warm up enough? Yes. If anything, I do too much warm up. I've been starting with an empty bar and adding 10kg each set (of 5 reps) ... for a total of 8 sets. I've also been lifting every other day for 3 weeks straight, so I think I've been experiencing CNS fatigue. I'm going take a few days, and when I next in the gym I'll try a more measured warm up. I think I'm going to be a fun and engaging person to be around, and give people the gift of my full attention, then I'm going to life a ri…

The stronglifts.com website is the place to start. You can download a 12 program to get you started. It starts light, so there’s no excuse to getting started immediately. Weights increase gradually and become significant towards the end of the program. I’m working through the program at the moment (week 8/12). Watching the full workout sessions (session A and session B) was also very helpful. Filled with sold advice and a no nonsense attitude. Skip the cardio and leave the iPhone in the car.

I'm sensing a theme. Yes and re-reading my words the lack of accountability stands out like dogs balls. But I honestly couldn’t see that when I wrong those words. I used to get angry because I wanted sex, couldn't have it ... the more the harsh reality of my situation would hit home. Yes, this is it exactly. Until recently porn was a private refuge ... a release from everyday stress. And now, it’s a source of bitterness and resentment. I get mean and spiteful, and then I get angry for feeling me…

MRP is not what I thought it was. I thought it was simply a set of guidelines for self improvement, and that's part of it ... but only a small part. If I could draw an analogy, it's a lot like yoga where there's the physical practice and also the breathing practice, but a bigger part of yoga is the underlying philosophical mental practice. With MRP there are the practical self improvement steps (the MAP) but there's also the emotional side (focusing on the self) and the philosophical side. The p…

Laying out the path like this helps. I'm slowly beginning to recognise some of the the signposts from what I've read, but unless you've been down the path before it's difficult to know if I'm even on it. This helps me understand the path. Continue building value for yourself, forget her. She’ll figure her own shit out. I see words like these every time I read a discussion on askMRP, but I'm struggling with learning that lesson. I need to read this to myself every morning.

Given that she's already suggested separation and you told her she can leave, you've got nothing to lose at this point, might as well be having sex every day. This is a delightful idea. Tell her you've gotten bored with this no-sex thing and you've decided to have sex with her now. Hell, I'm going to give it a shot. I'll have to pick the moment and I'm sure I'll be shot down, but I've got nothing to loose.

I don’t understand the point your making. I can see what you’ve done above where I’m flip-flopping ... feeling good, feeling bad, feeling good, feeling bad ... but I’m missing the bigger message. Are you saying that I overthink everything? Or that my ego is driving my agenda? Perhaps both? Ps. This pattern is really interesting ... I didnt know I was doing this.

Good job. You're wisely choosing to build a better future for yourself, rather than seeking instant gratification by talking about your emotions. I appreciate the feedback. I have to admit it wasn’t easy ... this behaviour is counter to everything I’ve been programmed with. Having said that it’s also the first time I’ve walk away with a sliver of self respect. I’m sure I could have done a thousand things better, and as a number of people have pointed out, I’ve really overthought all this ... but…

If you didn’t like it, it’s probably because your ego is keeping you from dealing with your problems. Yeah, that could very well be the case. Okay I’ll do it, but this time with the exercises.

... but I think this might help you, so fuck it, here goes. Thank you, that definitely does help. I feeling totally messed up by my social and cultural programming ... what I thought was up is now down, left is now right. And, to hear stories from fellow travelers definitely helps. Glad things worked out well for you in this case.

You need to start by reading the sidebar .. I have been and posting in the OYS threads, but I’m still finding my way. I read NMMNG a while ago and didn’t like it. I got more from WISNIFG. I’ll look at NMMNG again and see if I feel the same way.

I feel like there’s an expectation on Valentine’s Day ... that I need to make the woman happy usually with some grand romance-novel type gesture; declarations of undying love, soul mates until the end of time ... etc. And I’ve played this script real well but it’s done me no favours. I end up feeling used and after all the declarations of undying love my relationship is struggling. I’m looking for a different perspective. My original question was badly phrased ... a better question would be “how…

I don’t have any expectation of getting laid ... I just want to be able to look in the mirror and feel good about what I see. At the moment getting that far is hard enough.

Shoot, I’ve been doing that my entire life ... and now I’m on /r/MarriedRP. What are the chances?

The question wasn’t so much about whether to be nice to the wife or not, but rather about the underlying motivations. Granted I didn’t phrase the question in that way. As I mentioned else where, I’ve always felt conflicted by Valentine’s largely because many women feel entitled to be spoilt on the day. Doing something for those reasons (appeasement) has always made me feel crap. Doing something nice because i want to feels like a better approach.

If I’ve earned it, I’ll wear it with pride. Hell, give me all the flairs! How bad could it be, right!?

Asking other men for instructions surely is the most alpha move. Putting it that way throws my question into a whole new light! it's fine to take a day to spoil your wife, if you want to. Just do it because it is fun for you, not to earn her approval. The answer I’ve been looking for. I’ve always been conflicted with Valentine’s Day but I’ve been doing things for the wrong reason. Thank you for helping me understand.

Is being the man you want to be not big, bold, and audacious? Yes! I’m not physical big (5’8”) but the “bold and audacious” part is doable. Should remove this word from your vocabulary. Noted. I appreciate the correction.

Okay, I can get on board with this. I’ve been over thinking what a mission is. Your statement above is far more direct and achievable than I imagined.

What I haven't solidified is my mission, and I'm paralyzed by the thought of it. Reading NMMNG again, it keeps coming up to "be the man you want to be." I've lived for everyone else my whole life, I am honestly struggling with stringing together a dream for who I want to be. I don't know who I want to be. I’m struggling with this also. I feel like a kid that’s trying to grow up but I don’t know how because I don’t know what it means to be a man. I feel like a mission should be something big and …

Growth only comes from being uncomfortable. Yes, this is a great point; I have a tendency to get too comfortable. I’ll need to spend more time pushing myself and setting myself some goals that are outrageous. What makes you not be fun? I take myself way too seriously! Growing up I was always the serious one, and it’s a role I know how to play well. It works well for work (and I also have a tendency to over-work), but socially I come across as very wooden, very robotic. What limits you? If I wher…

Consciously breaking the conditioning and facing these retarded fears we harbor can be scary. Agreed. RP behaviour is counter to all my existing programming and at this point I have to deliberately work against myself ... if that makes sense. It is mentally exhausting. I’m hoping that with practice and time things become easier. I’m beginning to understand the analogy with the matrix. Good job fag. Thank you! I appreciate the encouragement; it gives me strength.

Do you know what it means, though? I know what it means to me ... it means that u/Blarg_Risen has take time out of their day to read my post and provide feedback ... which means something. Beyond that, no I don’t know what it means.

This is OYS #1. OYS #0 So, I’ve created a new account specifically for MRP because I'm a little but paranoid. The last post was harsh. My life is such a train wreck even u/BobbyPeru took pit on me so I've got that going for me. FML. But being truthfully it was what I needed. I feel like I've been bitch-slapped down a new path. Between begin called a faggot and a homo, lot of the comments were incredibly insightful. The comments that also suggest different approaches were especially helpful. Spec…
