I will just say, this is why I started fucking other women when my wife left me. She said there was nobody else, but I don’t know if I can ever believe that. Get some pussy when you’re ready and it feels right.

I think going through it is part of life no matter what. Grief and regret are a bitch!!! But joy and happiness are a blessing!!!! My only advice that personally helped me : do things for you! Treat yourself man because you matter too!

Stay strong man. It’s hard to accept things, but think about all of the progress you’ve made. Continue to build yourself into a better man, before you know it, things will come around. Remember who you are, king!

It will suck. My soon to be ex left me though and after 5 months of me putting in the work and asking her to reconcile, I’ve met about 10 different women and fucked 3 of them in less than 2 months. I’m sure if she knew that she would find it hard to believe and accept even though she left me. The truth is some people move on faster than others. Don’t let it get to your head and try to keep improving yourself.

You’ll probably have days when you do hate her. Then want her back. Then hate her. Then after a cycle of that the emotions get weaker and weaker until you finally stop giving a shit.

The only thing I’ll add is that when you see her and talk to her at this stage your old feelings will come up. That doesn’t mean you’re weak or hopeless. Being in a new space and no contact will eventually make a difference. Like I said though, the experience is going to be hard but IT GETS BETTER. Work on yourself. Do things to build your confidence back. Remember who you are, King.

Hey man, literally the exact same scenario happened to me in January. Except she wouldn’t even try therapy and we were together for 10 years and marriage for 1.5. We ended up selling our house and splitting the profits evenly. I now live in my own house and am dating. It gets better. My advice, move on as if she’s not coming back and try to make sure the divorce ends as smoothly as possible if you guys can be amicable. Once you get through the logistics, go into no contact (for your well being).…

This is probably the best advice anyone grieving their soon to be or now ex wife can read. I’m slowly getting out of the pit but man was I in it deep for about a few weeks. Felt the same as OP. Hookups and failed dating weren’t doing shit. Just lately though I started to feel a little different. After reading this comment it solidified how I’m feeling. We gotta stick together and tell it to each other how it is. Great stuff. Stay strong fellas.

I’m 31 and a month and a half into dating. It’s been exhausting. I’ve had a few hookups and great dates that went nowhere. I’m also not divorced yet but separated for 6 months. I think my soon to be ex wife started dating too so that hurt because she wanted to separate and now wants to see if the grass is greener. The grass has been cement for me, if you understand my metaphor. Good luck. It’s probably going to take some time.

You’re right. It’s still hard to fully accept. She’s still way up on a pedestal for me and most of the women I met (either interested in or not) don’t come close to her for me.

She left because she all of a sudden didn’t see a future with me, want a family or wanted to be with me after being together for 10 years. Closed herself off and wanted to be alone. Didn’t want to work anything out. I wasn’t perfect but I wasn’t treated right by her before we separated either. She made 0 communication about how she was feeling for I don’t even know how long and completely shocked me when she said she was done. I was literally trying to plan a date and she lost her shit on me say…

I really appreciate the motivating message. You’re right. It just hurts when I imagined growing old with her. At least I got a decade of good times with her in her 20’s. I know my value too though. I deserved better in the end and she wanted something else.

All of that is fair. I’m not scared of getting attached but I think my standards are high and also kind of fucked. I also want kids though. But I don’t want to settle. I’m a little fucked up about it all.
/r/Divorce_Men23/06/26 06:27 PM

I’m seeing other women because she literally told me I could do what I want while separated. Doesn’t mean I wouldn’t have dropped everything for her. I see the feelings aren’t mutual though and it stings. I’m not even an option. That’s why I’m hurting.

Thanks for giving me some actual words of hope and advice. I haven’t dated in 10 years so it feels new to me. And from everything I’ve seen dating in this era is nothing but wasted time and my first taste has shown me that.

Why? What is there to work on after 6 months of being alone and putting in TONS of self work? How am I thirsty for wanting to meet a woman who has true intentions and doesn’t want to hook up and move on right away?
/r/Divorce_Men18/06/26 04:20 PM

She didn’t want to and I don’t think it would have mattered for that reason. Most women only do therapy if they want to stay. If they don’t, it’s a waste of time. Almost impossible to change their minds once they’re made up.

I can’t say it’s the best thing to ever happen to me. I would have liked to have worked on the marriage when things got tough before being forced to end things. But it’s definitely not the worst thing to happen to me. There are pros and cons. The pros will eventually outweigh the cons but to say I wasn’t going through some bullshit would be a lie. To me it’s just a life event.

You’re not delusional, but would it be possible for you to live a fun lifestyle without blowing 90k in 9 months? That’s a lot of money spent. I’ve been back in the dating game for 3 weeks after 4.5 months of post separation healing and I’ve met 3 women, had my fun if you know what I mean, and I’ve spent $25 total.

It’s not a good one. It will cost me more money to rent a house than to max out my mortgage approval where I live. Theres no way I’ll rent. Rather buy a condo. Hard to go from home ownership to something else.

I had a woman over couple of times in our former shared home when she moved out after 3 months but it’s going to sell soon. So that leaves me with 0 options for the foreseeable future unless I meet a woman who doesn’t give a shit and haves me over at her place hahaha or until I get possession of my own home.

You’re right, I jumped the gun a little early. But I was expecting to have bought something by now and I really missed female companionship. I’m not really worried about a “reputation” getting thrown around I’m not exactly building a roster right now. Just reaching out one at a time sort of. I just wanted to see if I was even able to be with another woman. I found out I can. I may just pause my dating until I get a place for the rest of the month.

I probably would only get married again if I ever trust a woman enough to. I have abandonment and trust issues since my separation and impending divorce.

Together 9.5 years. Took me 4 months to be able to start seeing other women. I just decided that I had enough of being alone. She oddly enough found a man as soon as I found my first woman lol so I think she had something in her back pocket for a long time and was just waiting for me.

If it’s amicable you, you can do what I did, put together a separation agreement and sign it with witnesses. Use it for everything going forward. Worked for me.

Hey man, in the same boat as you for the last week and a half and it’s been great. Let’s go get ours!

I know. I don’t care for that though. I’m not even sure what I want anymore. I don’t have my own house yet and that’s creating a huge psychological barrier for me to move on and be with other people.

She doesn’t live with me. She moved out in March. I hear you, but I just am not sure. Maybe I’m not ready.

I was a bit hesitant for that reason too.

If I had my own space that was mine and only mine, she would have been there. But I can’t hook up in the house my ex and I shared… I just don’t have that in me

I didn’t have a place to hook up other than a car and im good. She’s also been sleeping around and hasn’t gotten through any of her demons so I’m not convinced I would either. I want something real to get me past the pain.

As soon as she said she wanted to move forward with selling our house and to move out and live on her own. It felt like a lie wearing it before that anyways since she wasn’t wearing hers.

Thanks for the advice. I don’t think I’ll be dating much if at all for a while still. But I’m starting to consider talking to women and maybe a date here or there too. It’s extremely rare and difficult to meet women “organically” so I’m gonna dabble on an app and see what it’s like. It also completely limits you unless you’re at a legit matchmaking singles event or a bar, but I wouldn’t consider that organic either. This is all so fucked up.
/r/Divorce_Men18/05/26 04:00 PM

Well I’m going to be honest, I think I’ll just start dating in a month then. See how I feel with doing that. I’m just lonely and miss having a partner and a woman to talk to.

She left me 4 months ago. I did all I could to change for her and she still left. Anyways, I’ll be starting to date soon. Not going to let the pain she caused me hold me back.

See last night when I was dancing with those women, I felt a bit of that too. Like “what are you doing? You have a wife. This is cheating. What would she think.” Like I was being judged from her even though she was nowhere near. No matter what I do she’ll probably judge me so I just gotta not give a fuck.
/r/Divorce_Men16/05/26 05:20 PM

Fair enough. I guess it’s best to just talk to women, exchange info, then see where it goes after a few dates from there. Yeah now that I think about it, one night stands seem like a bad idea.

I’m going to have to start dating sooner than later. I really want to start talking to multiple women to just see what’s out there. If I like a girl, I’ll keep going and see where it goes. I don’t think I’ll get over my ex unless I explore my options out there.

Dude you can still live life as a single man and be with women instead of the carrot up the ass. Can I ask you something? I know it’s hard, but what the fuck has she done for you to give a fuck about her anymore? Don’t rush into a relationship, but for crying out loud, getting pegged by a carrot is NOT better than being with a woman (unless you’re not into it anymore).

My STBXW pulled a very similar stunt as yours. Our situations in general are similar. Only, we have 1 dog and I’m letting her have it fully (which sucks). I’ll just give you this advice, if you play sports or have group hobbies, go out and do them. I just started up men’s baseball after taking a year off and haven’t felt so great in a long time. Get out and get moving. Do things that seem scary but in a good way. You’ll get your confidence back, hell, I’m still working on myself. It’s summer soo…

“A healthy partner would have addressed any issues they have… not offhanded comments or snide remarks” Needed to hear this. My story is very similar to OPs. I told her multiple times to just tell me if there was another man too. Said no, but all she could do was blame me for her leaving. Never any communication leading up to it either, like I was supposed to read her fucking mind.
/r/Divorce_Men08/05/26 04:28 AM

If you still love her then I would say you’re moving forwards, but is she going to do what’s needed to bring your family back together too?

Hey man, therapy helps. Even chat GPT to help you get your feelings sorted out. You said family isn’t there for you, what about your friends? I’ve balanced support from my family and friends as well as figuring myself out alone. It’s still been hard. So no matter what, remember that it gets better. Maybe try to join a sort of club for a favourite hobby to get more social too. Take care of yourself man.

You’re not failing your kids. If she is never going to come back, then you can still give them your full self and maybe a step mom one day. But for now, do your best to accept that she isn’t coming back. And honestly, do you really want someone who doesn’t want you? I kept reminding myself that and it helped me detach easier.

Terrible communication from her. Thinking everything was okay by me. Growing distance, which eventually led to her wanting to leave instead of working on things. I did all I could to change for her and it still didn’t matter.

That’s the best way to look at it. But it’s still hard.
