| 3 | Johnny Rotten -- rude, unpleasant and living up to his name. But "sexist and misogynist"? I think not.I'm British and I just watched the interview. I live in a small town in Scotland where people say stuff like this all the time - from "mrs" to "mister", to other nicknames like "pet" and "love". Here it's just colloquial language that isn't meant to have any offensive meaning. It's like saying "mate". Although it obviously depends on the context of the situation. The other day I accidentally bumped into a guy in a shop and apologised, and he replied "it's alright, pet". No offence taken, it was … | /r/MensRights | 10/04/13 01:09 PM |
| 13 | Men Need Not ApplyThat's random. What is the job anyway, just office work? I know in Britain some jobs have an exception under the Equality Act that allow only women (or only men) to apply to a certain job. | 1 | When discussing the suicide rate of menThere's not really any other option. If you say something snarky, it could lead to them replying to only the snarky comment and that'll just derail the discussion even more. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that then! lol | /r/MensRights | 13/03/13 10:54 PM |
| 3 | When discussing the suicide rate of menThe way to work around this is just to tell them it's not the issue at hand and acknowledge that while it is a problem, it's not the one you're discussing at the moment. Also best to stay calm and collected, anger never really helps. Honestly I don't comment here often but I've been lurking for a while now and I just wanted to tell you I find this question kind of funny almost because I've seen a lot of radical feminists (on Tumblr, especially) also claim that MRAs derail discussion too.
