Is this statement implying there were more? Because if you spent 180 days for your first and then got another DUI...

Well, it wasn’t her lawyer’s defense that sealed the deal. It was the victim. The judge originally rejected the plea deal but it ended up happening anyways because a court psychologist found that the victim was so messed up from the situation that it would take years to recover. The victim’s mother also didn’t want TruTV to film the trial as it would reveal the victim’s identity. It was an overall shitty situation for everyone but her(Lafave).

Technically this is a pussypass because now the woman suing can sue Planet Fitness for having her feel threatened by someone biologically male, whereas if it was a man suing planet fitness about a biological female in the locker room it’d be ignored.

That’s exactly why it’s strange. It’s literally counterintuitive to survival instinct.

I don’t get road rage so I probably just don’t get it- to me, it immediately gets escalated to physical contact once he goes up to here, which in the US I feel is a cardinal sin (aka if you so much as touch someone, better hope they don’t have a good lawyer). There’s probably also a bit of a cultural gap that I’m experiencing here because of that. It’s just a very strange situation overall.

Yeah, I get that. This situation overall is just so bizarre. What the fuck is going on here? It’s the perfect storm of stupidity.

I’m just wondering if maybe the scooter stalled and she was calling their equivalent of AAA. But then again, I like to think (probably way too optimistic here though) that if you can get a license to operate a vehicle, you’re smart enough to not stop in an intersection to use your phone and instead pull off to the side.

What...this situation is insane. Why did she stop? Why did he almost immediately go to push her scooter? What the fuck am I looking at.

Yeah. Personally I know for example dad was an Italian immigrant who grew up in US and had his kid circumcised because when he grew up he was ridiculed by his peers in the locker room over having his foreskin.

She was in jail for 1.5 years prior- it’s a light sentence regardless but there was jail involved, just before the formal ruling. Also this is Japan. They don’t allow you to spend more than three years in jail for the destruction of property.

She at least got to see some jail time too. “He said Karia, who has spent 20 months in jail since the incident and will get credit for her time already served”

What the fuck? From this article it sounds like this woman injured her hand in a different incident and tried to blame it on this handshake- how the fuck did she decide this was her plan of action???

I would say a little bit of a, little bit of b. She has gotten meds the night before (which i think it was implied she overdosed on), and had also stabbed herself. People like this should never be released though...there should be a clause that if you ever get committed to a facility, and are seen as fit to leave, you need to then serve out the appropriate prison sentence. People have mental breaks all the time without murdering their kids and stabbing themselves.

We didn’t have videos two or three decades ago to show this behavior, and you’re relying on confirmation bias when realistically there have always been people who are trashy. You just have more mediums to be exposed to it.

This is framed as some crazy wild story whereas if he had raped her, it would be a story about a horrific violent man breaking in with the machete as an afterthought. Fuck

Why the fuck is this public? This dude has to go around town and everyone will know “it’s machete boy” or some shit. Why do we publicize this shit without respect to the victim? Fuck.

He’s referring to the fact that this is his EX. So he did, presumably consensually, stick his dick in crazy.

Yeah I did a little research during my downtime and it’s absolutely regional. In US, we push 25deg C as ambient. This is what is the basis of testing parameters for UL, which dictates testing procedures for my industry (although my company is moving to CSA, since UL loooooves to charge a premium for their service and profit on people’s ignorance). I apologize for my curtness about the temperature comment as the phrase “dictated by science” is an absolute pet peeve. What science? Science is alway…

White knights too. But the real attraction is the people who get outraged because realistically as you said, there’s a handful of them but there thousands of us shaking our heads at this bullshit right now.

That’s exactly why they labeled it sexist. To grab attention- at least a small fraction may have went out of their way to watch this after seeing the headline.

Have you ever conducted a scientific test? It’s designated at 25 in every single test I’ve ever done. You get a pass if maybe outside of the US it’s 20, but I’m a thermal engineer and we always adjust results to an ambient of 25 before submittal to UL. Every class involving ambient has also used 25 as ambient. Ps sorry for being rude, I fucking hate when people say because science with no actual scientific backing.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
