They support what they see as solutions to it.

Yes, but not here. Here, feminism is an evil conspiracy and r/mensrights deny even the most basic things like patriarchy and rape culture.

Men not being able to take a piss in urinals shaped like female mouths - that's female supremacy? You got to be kidding me. This is not female supremacy, this is the other side of the coin called patriarchy. Every point in this video can be linked to this. Women recieving shorter sentences? That's because we view women as victims - that is not female supremacy. Hiring a woman instead of a man? That's to make up for women being viewed as less competent because she's not a man - and that is not fe…

Still, I have a total of -20 karma from men's rights. And I don't think it's only extremists. The front page is full of post bashing feminism, for example, and you're not allowed to question that.

Which is standard procedure where exactly?

The thing is, discussing anything at /r/mensrights is impossible if you're not already a sworn hater of feminism and generally bitter towards women. Questioning anything, politely and reasonably, results in instant downvotes.

It isn't a subreddit about men's rights as much as a subreddit about how much they hate feminism, the evil conspiracy to be blamed for everything that is wrong in men's life. Also, there is no patriarchy, victim blaming doesn't exist and prostitution is a privilege only women have. I am not even exaggerating.

Women are raised with the idea that men want sex all the time, so, yeah. Also, plenty of men reinforce that idea too, with all the jokes and talking about tits and asses and acting like it's the biggest deal in the world (reddit in a nutshell?). And, movies, tv series, etc. I'm not placing blame here, just that's it's no wonder some women act that way.

My bad. Edit for the retarded: Homosexual men and homosexual women.

What's the problem here? It's pretty accurate except for a few personal notes, which are clearely denoted as "me thinking". All the bigger newspapers all same the same thing as in this summary, again, except the personal opinions. And yeah, they would probably have been convicted if they had done it in july and not mars - the law changed this summer. People are upset because it was 6 guys and 1 girl, who said no, who tried to leave, and it still wasn't enough because the court ruled she wasn't h…

By that logic, men shouldn't complain about anything at all since they've been ruling the world since forever - a.k.a, paying the piper and calling the tune I guess.

The concept of male gaze isn't just about staring, it's about men's taste setting the standard in movies, magazines (for men and women both), comercials, adds, etc.

It is sad to see such unreasonable respons be the most upvoted. As someone who is interested in men's issues etc, this subreddit is really disappointing.

If you by "men looking at scantily clad women" mean "men objectifying women with or without consent", then sure, I understand your point.

Yeah, and I wonder why there isn't even any men's rights movement to speak of. Too busy bashing feminism with bullshit arguments, perhaps.

How cute. I study political science actually, and we do tons of critical analyzing, so don't blame others because you cannot debate like a grown up with basic logic and reasoning. Keep trying though, I'm sure you'll get there some day.

Yeah... you have nothing to teach me. The male gaze is about heterosexual males. Homosexual men and women are a minority and do not have any relevance here because they are not what is in mind when making movies/comercial/whatever. You're whole argument is completely irrelevant.

Because in the end, you lose something else. It is like you want to misinterpret everything I say. You are making a big deal out of nothing, making up arguments to things I haven't said. Social norms control staring, making it rude to stare. The end.

Everything is male about it. That doesn't mean only men do it to women. It's built on "male taste" if you could call it that, and has become standard.

True, my thought was "fuck gender roles = erase gender roles". And that is a little extreme.

Saying feminism has nothing to gain from equality is really paranoid. Power, control and greed? I don't know what feminism you are talking about, but it sounds like a unified entity instead of a very, very multifaceted political point of view that is different from person to person. The feminism I know only want very simple things, such as for women to have their bodys left alone, basic right to choose, not being slut shamed back to the dark ages in case of sexual behaviour, etc etc. Fair enough…

and no one has any right to try to control that Well, how you look at people is controlled by social norms. You don't stare at people, because it freaks them out. You don't stare at women because it is rude. You don't stare at disabled people for the same reason. Etc. No. Googled it, and it sounds pretty much as a fancy way of saying "women are doing it to themselves". The way I see it, even though women are acting in ways to benefit from "the patriarchy", gender roles etc, it is still a patriar…

Ok, so I misunderstood your point there. But, saying feminism is trying to "conceal" something sounds really paranoid and I don't think that's the case. It is not a conspiracy. They just genuinly believe that women's violence against men isn't a big problem, and how are we to know if it is? There's really not much to go on, no statistics, not much research etc. And, feminist usually react negatively to the subject because it is often brought up as an attempt to dismiss the subject about violence…

I never said it couldn't. But saying something is "bullshit" is not an appropriate way of dismissing a theory, no matter how little you agree with it.

I’m not familiar with the exact meaning of a gaze, since english isn’t my first language, but I think it’s pretty clear. It is about women being portrayed a certain way, as if a man was to look at her, and as if she was to please him with how she looks. Which of course isn't necessarily a bad thing, but when male gaze become standard gaze, it's a problem. You mean women objectify and oppress men by posing sexually? I’m not sure I see your point here. Competition about being sexy to men is about …

No, but that is not what the male gaze is about. It is not something men do to women, it is a way to look at women that has been adopted by women too and society in general. Women portray other women and themselves according to the male gaze, because the male gaze is the standard gaze. As I said, there is no conspiracy, there is no secret agreement amongst men. Again. Just because you say it's bullshit doesn't make it so. It is not a valid argument.

So, you're basically saying that there is a relation between feminism and female rapists? Unless you have a source or SOMETHING to back that up, I'm going to go ahead and say that female rapists are probably equaly distributed amongst the population in regards of political views, as is the case with male rapists, as far as I know. The paranoia comes from the mass media and their horror-stories. Feminism is probably number 1 in criticising women constantly being portrayed as fragile (skinny and w…

You calling it bullshit doesn't make it bullshit. And I don't see what women's magazines have to do with it? Evidence? How can there ever be evidence when it comes to cultural phenomenon. Social science doesn't really work that way, there is no instrument to measure "rape culture". You build theories and back them up as best as you can, I suppose. And right now, those theories stand pretty solid against your tirade of "it's bullshit". Why, because you say so? Because rape culture can't be "prove…

You're picking the raisins out of the cake here. Also, can you explain the bullshit? And the insults? A bit extreme to "fuck gender roles" perhaps, but not appreciating cat calls, "diet culture" or body policing sounds pretty standard.

Well, I don't understand why you should have to renounce rape culture and male gaze though. I understand that accusing every male individual of contributing to rape culture is misandry, and I understand that if you think men have secretly agreed upon the male gaze, it's misandry. But we do live in a society that (men and women both) exuse rape over and over again (thus contributing to it, in my opinion), and we live in a society where women are constantly portrayed according to, yes, a male gaze…

I understand your point, but saying feminism has shot women in the foot is to bash feminism. Also, you make it sound like people today are unable to have balanced relationships, which I don't agree with.

He didn't. And, when discussing a topic as infected as this one, it's a good idea to be clear about when you're generalizing, because it will sound like you're passing a judgement on all women if you don't. Don't be paranoid. If I didn't want to discuss the actual subject, I wouldn't have come here.

No. I just agreed on hypergamy being a thing. I do not agree with "women only want alpha". Please explain how his gender has anything to do with my respons.

They still by and in large, want the traditional masculine alpha male What you say is true, but it doesn't sound like he's talking about hypergamy, just the regular "women only want this or that" bitter bs. I think you should point out that it's a generalization, but other than that, I'm gonna go ahead and guess it might not be the same women saying those things.

Housewives might not have been financially independant, but that doesn't mean they were helpless. And saying feminism has shot women in the foot is ridiculous. I'm quite fond of my right to vote and all the other essential human rights I now have thanks to feminism, and would give that (perfectly fine) foot for not having to go back to how it was before. Sure, women have to work extra hard now, but you're trying to blame feminism for it as a way to bash it, which is completely irrational.

Alpha males attract women, but that doesn't mean "women want alpha males". Women want a lot of things. Just look around you and you'll see plenty of married men and fathers who are just average men and not typically "alpha" at all.

Behold, the female version of a white knight. Look, your view of women if full of shit and you're just keeping the stereotypes alive. Also, you talk about men in this marine program thing. Have you ever stopped to think for a second that this program attracts a certain kind of men to begin with? My guess is, it doesn't attract the gossipy, bitchy men very much at all. And this isn't critisms towards MRA or anything, only towards your misogynistic bullshit that I wish would just die away already.
