Social engineering? (I think that's the chic term for it now.)

I score high on Mach and Psych. I firmly subscribe to a worldview in which everything is a game and I'm better at it than most people, although my position could easily change (and I'm aware of the variables most vulnerable to this). I don't believe everyone knows they are playing a game, so I don't know if that changes your paradigm of "everyone manipulates" or not. Valuing highly productive friendships is a Machiavellian tenet in and of itself; I'm not sure what your point is. Cultivating a fo…

This is the thing about Machiavellianism: I would allow for the argument that "it's ok so long as they look out for everyone" if that wasn't such a freak occurrence. No one does Machiavellianism to an effective and subtle level (contrary to what you may think, most people consider being manipulated by people they know to be a big deal) while actually giving a shit about anything but the outcomes. There's a lack of empathy necessary to that equation, which usually comes from the N and/or P compon…

You only get good at Dark Triad through practice. I don't see how "manipulating" a bunch of randos online and at bars in any way prepares one to socially engineer major players in their own lives. The most important element of the Triad is the lack of empathy. If we're even going to stretch the shit thin enough to call it a "skill" (it in no way is), you wouldn't get better at it by pre-selecting targets that you don't empathize with (i.e. strangers).

...is it not obvious that she was doing this shit on purpose? If you actually watch the show, the entire episode leads up to her throwing her sexuality in his face because he kept trying to pick and choose when she could turn him on. He's been the one with the shit tests (pretty much all he does on the show).

I think there's a point of distinction here that needs to be made: people who ARE Dark Triad tell everyone to fuck off, not give a shit, are DT forever and are JUST as "successful" at being what social norms have decided that looks like. They are better at gaming life than you, therefore they game women better too. Being a massive cunt can make you popular if you say what other people are thinking when other people are too afraid to say it and your timing makes sense. Hiring managers totally emp…

If DT people ever hamster, it has to do with empathy and consequences.

I could see that being possible... it just doesn't sound like you'd be very good at it without the practice. Being in a train car full of strangers with wallets doesn't do much if you aren't a good pickpocket.

Not the one who tips 0% like a douchebag, rather the one who tips 20% anyway but doesn't leave before speaking to the server or manager about how the service was subpar and why it was unacceptable. Your roommate sounds passive-aggressive.

People go their whole lives naturally being or befriending DT people and never know how deep the antisocial behaviors go besides that person being a little "off" here and there. So, no, "people close" don't "all eventually sniff out the psychopath". I suppose this is an issue for people who are "pulling" DT, but actual DT individuals do not have "relationship strain" because they pull the "pump and dump" on society at large: I want __ from you, give it, you gave it?, goodbye...time passes...oh h…

RP =/= DT. DT is basically a personality disorder that is inherently malignant and antisocial. The tactics work but they're less RP/BP and more dark social engineering.

One of the first guys I ever dated was like that [it didn't work out & progress beyond a first date]. He hadn't had sex with his wife in 12 years. They had discussed divorce, which apparently was the last thing she wanted, so the compromise they came to was that he could fulfill his sexual needs elsewhere as long as it didn't result in any kids. I really respect this kind of compromise.

"sexless spinster types" don't exist in the culture I'm talking about. it's a matter of the next wives generally being younger and more beautiful, which may be a relief to the older wife who is frigid but a point of jealousy for the older wife who is not. I think it's always down to the man and the woman in the relationship when discussing infidelity. Whether the woman wasn't meeting needs or the man was unrealistic about his ability to be monogamous for the long term... it very rarely is about …

I would say that's fair. My maternal grandfather had two legal wives and, for me, the multiplicity didn't bother me but the advertent or inadvertent inequality would. The conventional wisdom in polygamous societies (at least in the particular region of the world and religious orientation I'm thinking of) is that it is okay to have as many wives as you can afford to provide for and treat them as equally as possible. WAY easier said than done, as any person who has had multiple relationships knows…

I've seen really strong arguments for a man having multiple serious relationships (they all know about each other and that there may be plates as well), but everyone is in on it and that man made it VERY clear he is totally opposed to the idea of marriage with anyone. All's fair in what you agree to participate in. A mistress is unacceptable. Do not marry me if you think I won't be enough for you. Those vows mean something (enough to some divorced people I know that they will have LTRs that last…

Agreed. People are terrible at guessing ages and things like hairstyles, makeup, dress, and posture can skew perceptions. I also think looking "youthful" and looking "young" are two different things, with the latter not necessarily being better.

I like the 48 Laws (even if most of it is just Machiavelli and Sun-Tzu in list form). I like the holistic life-betterment prerogative of TRP and these laws work well socially in general. I would imagine this would be good for a political family (Margaery is an example of this working, Cersei is an example of this failing), or a fundraising chair... there are plenty of ways RPW could possibly apply this to daily life outside of petty bullshit (like water cooler rivalries) to their own benefit wit…

I don't think it was condescending to say "my life is my life", I thought it was a mature way to just say "I agree to disagree/we may not have the same opinion on this particular issue and I respect that". I'm really not trying to be hostile. I said nothing about the date being a first date in either the original comment thread or in the comments of this post. I'm pretty sure my framework for the hypothetical was "early stage of dating" like first few weeks/dates.
/r/RedPillWomen25/03/14 11:00 PM

So... how exactly do you get from being a man's plate to being a RPW with a RPM in a relationship WITHOUT being taken out or having sex (since that's also discouraged)? I'm just not sure why I'm supposed to look out for a man's interests more than my own when we aren't together, even though I do understand the general philosophy of "don't let a woman whore you out for your time".
/r/RedPillWomen25/03/14 10:46 PM

I mean... I feel like I have been, since I posted this and asked if I was wrong and solicited feedback on it. I don't see the decorum in directly and indirectly calling me a whore, but I'm not really fazed by any of this. I'm learning a lot either way.

Nah, it's more about the flip side of that. Like, I have literally heard women say that they refuse to allow a man to pay for them because they don't want him to expect anything or feel entitled to anything from them (including basic kindness). My generation is questionable when it comes to dating. It's all very manipulative and driven by the principle of least interest/investment. I don't want to buy into that.
/r/RedPillWomen25/03/14 10:36 PM
1

Fair, but I think RPW within a relationship and RPW in the dating game requires tweaking the perspective a bit. When you have a man who is committed to you, expecting him to pay for everything IS bleeding. When a man is simply interested in you and you're not after the carousel experience or becoming a plate, I figure you need indicators that he can be the things you want in a man: intelligent, strong leader, provider. I also need someone who is compatible with me in the ways that matter and mon…

My argument isn't that. My POV is that going dutch too early puts us on equal footing which makes it difficult to adjust to a framework later on where he leads and I follow, if I'm expected to be a financial equal. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's honestly just how I was raised. If he doesn't want to do dinner, he can propose we do something else that isn't so much financial pressure. I'm game for whatever. I don't know why it's presumed that I'm using him for his money by expecting a man to pay for a date. That was just something my father raised me to expect. The last man who took me out, we didn't do dinner until the third date. The first we had coffee (and paid for ourselves) and the second I cooked him dinner. I get the paranoia about women draining male finances, but I don't think it's always grounded in what's actually happening in a specific situation.

I always thought cardio was an important sort of "backdrop" to lifting weights and dieting; like that actually helped trim the fat... maybe I was wrong. In any case, I most definitely lost the most weight the quickest when I started eating breakfast regularly and controlling my portions. No exercise (beyond walking everywhere-- not a weird thing in my city), just portion control.

I think it doesn't make sense to rail against someone else's standards. If sex history an issue that is important to that person, that's their relationship checklist.

my mother is "woe is me" NPD (hates to work, hates being married, had kids for selfish reasons) who mindfucks everyone and taught me to hate my father and abuse men. my father is workaholic NPD who was physically abusive and emotionally absent, but supported us and obviously alpha as fuck (when he gave a shit to check my mom, which wasn't super often). dating as a teenager was an interesting experience of trial-and-error LOL

the episode is really touching to be honest. I'm really glad I didn't grow up an insecure teenager in this particular pocket of time. It's really hard to tell a young girl her value these days if her father is setting a bad man example.

Be careful with compliments. Ones that don't sound genuine turn people off, too many about one thing in particular makes you look easily impressed, too many in general gives your positive opinion less power. Use them as positive reinforcement for positive behavior. If he tells you he has a job, cool, we're adults, good for you. If he tells you he's been saving x much to buy a house in y years, compliment him-- that's something noteworthy and something you want him to know impresses you so he wil…

I don't believe the famous women who are part of this campaign consider themselves bossy, despite literally being bosses in the sense of having employees. "Ban the word". Why? If someone calls you a bossy woman, that means you are not being subtle about wanting what you want when you want it. Tone it down and try again. I was called bossy as a little girl and it didn't break my spirit, I just chilled out and worked smarter.

Well, I'm antifeminist. So immediately I don't identify with feminist anything. I don't mock or deride anything TRP does because a man being RP doesn't make him a RPM. Some RP topics have nothing to do with me so I ignore them. Everyone has different maturity levels. I think feminists expecting uniform behavior from men (without doing a DAMN thing themselves) are the pinnacle of that sort of social immaturity.

Well, I was familiar with PUA from watching that hilarious reality show on MTV and reading Neil Strauss's book on the culture. As pathetic as I found the men to be intrinsically, not to mention the low-hanging fruit they were all pursuing, I did respect the "strategy" of it all. I stumbled on TRP when I was skimming some feminist subreddits for inspiration on a paper I was writing (about antifeminism LOL). He picked me up when I was stranded in another state during a blizzard (at 3 AM) is the primary reason I think he's worth some patience. We were friends first, then we started having sex, then I stopped it because I wanted more. He knows my terms and he wants to spend time with me anyway. There's no one "at fault" because no one is doing anything wrong. I'm okay with him not seriously dating me if he's okay with me not having sex with him. I actually am currently dealing with a guy who has a vendetta against relationships. I know it is him and not me because despite my refusing to have any kind of sex with him until he gets serious about us, he continues to spend time and money on me. He just has an idea of relationships (sort of like anti-Disney; every woman becomes a shrew when she gets a boyfriend) that I need to debunk by consistently demonstrating that I am a game-changer. Maybe I should explain the way women on here seem to be interpreting this man's opinion. We see "unfeminine" as less of a behavior thing (although we can all agree that being rude, brash, obnoxious, or loud would be uncultured and unattractive in general) and more of an "image" presented. We aren't trying to appear perfect, we just like to look pretty. I had a shoulder-length bob (not a weird asymmetrical one, just a normal bob) when I was sixteen because I had overprocessed my hair and that was all the healthy hair I had left! People just aren't allowed to have tastes anymore without being "insensitive" towards some group that their preference doesn't apply to. I was raised in the South. Women are feminine if they want to date men. Men are masculine if they want to date women. It's just that simple. Both groups know what they need to emulate to be competitive when dating and the successful ones do it and the unsuccessful ones don't. Then I moved North for college. That is a totally fair point to make, and I agree that a man not asking the question out of fear is Blue Pill. On the other hand, to use BDB terminology, I feel like asking the "how many have there been" question is "Needy Alpha" behavior as opposed to "pure Alpha" behavior. That's purely my own opinion though and I understand it doesn't really mesh with RP logic. This may get me downvoted but I would never ask or answer this question of "how many people have you slept with?" The point of the question is to determine how suitable a person (in most cases, the woman) is for a LTR. Paying attention to what the person says and does will give you a much more accurate answer, in most cases. If she still texts her exes, if she goes out more nights than she stays in, if she has demonstrated no value or not enough value as a partner, if she is sexually incompatibl…

Hence the concept of "damaged goods": a woman with too many sexual partners (untrustworthy) and/or not enough relationship experience (emotionally unavailable) or a man with too many relationships (serial monogamist) or serious LTRs that crashed and burned (baggage/complexes)
/r/RedPillWomen10/01/14 08:00 PM

I think it counts as a LTR, simply because it was a prolonged affair that the woman learned something from. It doesn't necessarily have to have gone anywhere to have value, in terms of educational life experience. What's described here honestly sounds like a situation in which the two people had an attraction for each other but were a little too pragmatic/had too many blatant obstacles to bother taking steps to make it more serious.

I think getting all dressed up to sit around the apartment is a bit ludicrous. There are plenty of ways to "dress up" in loungewear. First, sometimes the satin pillowcase thing will save you but a lot of the time, it won't. It's just better for your hair/skin in general. Wrap your hair in a silk scarf before bed. When done correctly, it looks quite glamorous AND it will keep your hairstyle. Moisturize your face in the morning. Throw on some lip balm* and apply white eyeliner to the inner corners…
