Hell yeah go for her im currently with that girl and its an awesome feeling sometimes. If shes your girl you shouldnt have to worry about her being loyal even if she has guys that want her cause at the end of the day she wants you. I dont feel bad if guys flirt or try to get her i take it as a complement cause i know when it comes down to it im the only one hitting it lol. Well i think he should just talk to her because he obviously wants to but just doesn't know how. i dont know what your referring to when you say it removes the mystery but im telling you from experience this is a really easy way get there number threw fb just be nice when talking maybe crack a joke try to come off as friendly and i guarantee youll get her number then once you have it you can start to try to move things foward with a simple hey lets hang out sometime.

start a conversation with the girl on fb then when you actually start talking to one another give her your number and say hey text me so i have your number. If your not a weirdo she'll more then likely text you her number.
