Ask them why they are comfortable being treated like children? "Oh my girlfriend hit me, it wasn't a big deal, she's just a weak woman." These "rules" and opinions that exempt women from whatever consequences men have to deal with are just patronizing. If they were really about equality they'd agree with this.

I ask simply because previous feminists movements were quite focused. But I am currently unsure of what the current goals of feminism is. Like Christina Hoff Summers says feminism is still very important..... in the developing world where women still don't have many rights compared to men. But I don't see contemporary feminists concerned with this primarily. I am unsure of what exactly feminists spend their time trying to accomplish above other goals.

The statistics would predict she would get paid less if she worked the same hours, did the same amount of over time, had the exact same responsibilities and job title (among many other factors. The difference would likely be between 1-8 % less than her male counter part. Not 23%. The power of statistics.

Less chance for advancement I can believe, if the trend is that men are in high paying jobs they are obviously choosing fields in which advancement is possible for men (less so for women). Tell them they will be on the wrong side of history. I think this video reflects my own realisation that if I am ever in a dangerous situation, it will be a man saving my life. Not a woman. I have all the confidence in the world that if I were rescued from a situation like those in the video that a man would jump into action before a woman acted.

It's neither of those thing. It's simple social psychology. You look to other people's behaviour for a reference of how you should act. If you see nobody else doing anything, you don't do anything. I'd really like to know where this idea came from. Who suddenly decided that to perpetrate some sort of discrimination you have to be at the "top of the ladder" for it to have any real effect in the real world? If your anywhere but first in the so called "power structure" you can say what ever you like to those that are doing "better" than you, because you can't oppress them supposedly. I've thought about it, but I don't think it's a good idea. I've done a gender analysis subject and was the only male in the class; the confrontation just isn't worth it.
