Another reason to be thankful for my son :)

I think using "objectify" was sarcasm.

Some depression is medical and not caused by any "choices" except maybe to be born into the wrong family. Men are frequently not treated for "clinical depression" because they are expected to just "man up" even when what they require is medical assistance. I understand that in the strictest sense it is a "symptom" of a chemical imbalance or other medical problem. Having depression does not mean that a man is a "mangina".

Well, there are some folks who aren't happy with the current state of 2X... not much I can do but use my votes.

If I skip the first paragraph and last sentence, you have good points.

2X is more than one person and there are quite a few people there that downvote and call bullshit on "objectification" insanity when they see it. Some women like to look at sexy men, some men like to look at sexy women, some women like to look at sexy women, some men like to look at sexy bacon... it's all good :P

Thank you :) (From a 2Xer who posted to the thread and is happily married to someone who spends many evenings with the r/gonewild folks.)

Could you somehow provide it as a template somewhere on the internet for others to use? It might help a lot of folks out....

My son's friend had a twin sister that tormented him. I was with the family one day and the sister kept hitting, poking, teasing and tormenting her brother. The boy went to his Mom and his Mom said "Just hit her next time - she needs to learn that she can't treat you like that without retribution." It wasn't the best answer, but I could respect the spirit of it anyway :)

Yep, marriage is a legal contract with a few basic "benefits" - but ultimately nothing in the marriage contract absolutely states who will work and who will stay home with kids etc. I suppose some pre-nups do this, but most of the legal entanglements are at the end of the marriage, not the beginning. Oh, sorry... I'm already married :P

Well, I assume women file for divorce more because the laws are slanted in their favor in many states. I also think the "princess syndrome" has a lot to do with a recent rise in women not feeling they need to earn their own income... but that is a whole other thread :)

Yep, I wonder if more are initiated by women because of the way divorce laws work? Again, I do think that divorce laws need to catch up with the realities of our times (women have good earning power in most cases, fathers want to be full-time fathers, men are having a harder time getting into collegeetc).

I get what you are saying, but marriage laws don't back up a women who "changes her mind" and wants to stop working. I do think that divorce laws probably support this type of trickery in a number of cases. I do think people need to be very careful when getting married. This goes for both sides of the equation.

Girl here - can I ask something? Is the issue really marriage - or divorce? What I have seen in this discussion is more men struggling with somewhat antiquated divorce laws. But, if you get married and intend to stay married for life - then the divorce laws don't really matter. But, it does sound like many states need to update their divorce laws. I've heard some serious horror stories around here about alimony and child custody. I think that marriage can be whatever the two people involved beli…

Most of the women I discussed this with said they left it up to their husbands... who then chose to have their sons snipped! Sometimes claiming it was so their boys could get laid.... I couldn't imagine getting my son snipped and luckily my husband agreed. I think I if my husband had strongly wanted to have him snipped I seriously would have had a knock-down drag out with him...but he is a rational bloke :) Besides, didn't Abraham or some crazy guy in the bible first circumcise himself at age 99…

my wife has taught our three year old daughter to call me asshole Woah! I mean... I am so sorry. That is absolutely not right, completely inappropriate on every level :(

Sad... I get a similar response when I talk to friends about how my dad used to lay in bed with me and watch Saturday morning cartoons. Like, a dad can't like cartoons? Whatever... he was also an elementary school teacher. He is still a great dad and grandpa :)

Why are we talking about women when discussing about male contraceptives? Isn't a male contraceptive for MEN? If men don't want to have babies, then this is one option FOR THEM. It doesn't matter what women want or need. Yes, women want more birth control options, but I would bet that men want more as well.... But, if women don't like the idea of male contraceptives - too bad. There are obviously some trust issues going both directions in regards to birth control - will he put the condom on righ…

My local grocery store was collecting donations for prostate cancer research awhile back. They were selling blue riboons and also had some kind of "just do it" thing about getting screened.

Yep - if you make the man in question her boss (male or female) she would be charged with assault. The person being hit is in a "position of power", but it is still wrong to allow anyone to hit them.

I understand that for some of them - like the first one (what kind of parent thinks they should teach any child that they are "entitled"?)... the author could have just discussed the "princess syndrome" for 10 pages and it would have been good reading. But for many of the others, it goes both ways - 23 in particular :)

Yeah, I was thinking that in the "no fault" case there should be some amount of time given for the "stay-home" spouse to find a new job. I was thinking longer, more like 7 years (half of the time they were out of the "normal" workforce). I hadn't thought of the cases where there has been an affair. I live in a no fault, community property state.

Wow, that is shockingly low. I live in a community property state, so I guess I always thought it would be more like 25%.

Random question for the sake of discussion: Say you are a guy with a great job on a "career track" and your wife is too. You have a child and eventually choose as a family that one of the parents should stay home with the children until they are in High School. In this case, the guy becomes a "stay-home" dad and takes 14 years off from his "career track" to be a stay home dad. Suddenly, you divorce. Should the wife have to pay alimony to the husband? For how long? Remember that he has dedicated …

Then it should probably be stated as "family first" with the description being that your spouse is an equal part of the family and often the firs to be neglected for the sake of "the children". I agree with many others that if this was written in a more gender neutral way it would have had a better response.

Slightly related question - I thought that part of keeping men intact was to improve the sexual experience for women? My understanding is that uncirc'd men cause less tearing in women and therefore it is also beneficial to women to stop the mutilation of boys. Or, was that your point? Are you saying that it irks you that when people talk about the benefits of leaving men intact, that the benefit to women always comes up instead of talking about the more obvious benefit to young boys? Sorry... ju…
