Fuck off with that slavery shit. You have no idea what slavery is. Being legally responsible to support a child you had a part in making isn't fucking slavery.

Child support is for the kid, not the mom. If you want to argue that the concept gets abused and there are women who exploit it sure thats a conversation that can happen, however if a child exists, each parent made a choice to bring that child into the world and has an obligation to care for it or support it unless the woman decides to abort. Don't like it men? Wear a condom.

No the reason I'm getting down voted is because people on this sub are almost universally idiots who can't understand how completely bullshit this idea is.

Yes exactly, so explain to me why the man should have the right to force 100% of the burden on the woman? The woman has two choices, accept shared responsiblity or free both parties of any responsibility. What is being suggested here is that the man have the choice to put 100% of the responsibilty on the other party and walk away, which isnt an option for the woman (she can either free both, or accept shared responsibility) so giving men the freedom to walk away from their financial obligations …

Thanks. I wonder what the point is though, it seems like this sub has already decided what it believes and has little interest in even considering ideas that contradict their worldview

Last I checked men make the choice to drop a load in a woman. This isnt about women trying to force men to take responsibility for their decisions, this is about shitty dudes trying to weasel out of their share of the responsibility for the life they helped create. The universal support for this bullshit on display in this thread is a perfect example of why MRAs are rightfully loathed.

It is absolutely relieving a man of the financial burden for raising a child and the man absolutely should have no say over what a woman does with her body while walking away from your responsibilities to support the child you had a hand in creating absolutely creates a massive burden for the woman and this shit is super obvious and easy to understand.

If a woman aborts a fetus the man is free from all responsibility, if a man "aborts his responsibility" 100% of the burden falls on the woman. You all can appreciate the MASSIVE difference there right? When a woman chooses to abort she isnt forcing the other party to take on a massive burden but if a man just walks away from his responsibility he IS forcing a massive burden on the woman. Please tell me you all understand this.

Yay! Good points, all of them. My issue is not with games being male fantasies, my issue is with the disproportionate level of hatred some gamers seem to have with Sarkisian's criticism of video games as male power fantasies. I'll try my best to explain why Romance novels and video games aren't analagous. Here's the thing. Romance novels are a subgenre of a medium, while video games are a medium in and of itself, and a particularly fun one. There is no pressure or major criticisms of romance nov…

The upvotes given to Jabcross would seem to contradict that statement. Unless you want to explain how "most women are cowards if they don't have access to proxy violence" isn't a disparagement of women.

values and interests are influenced by genetics: assertion, would love to hear your evidence. Love the use of Qed on the basis of extremely questionable science. The people arguing against me haven't made any fewer baseless assertions than I have, at least I offered some statistical evidence, flawed though it may be, that men dominate positions of power and influence. But hey, you've already decided how reality is independent of facts, who am I to argue.

Good point. I like a more gender neutral way of looking at things. Can't we just all have human rights? Honestly I'm amazed at the parallels between the ideologies of both the radical feminists and the more angry MRA's. As someone who is neither it's fascinating to watch. At least I doubt you guys will ban me, SRSdiscussion banned me for calling out the hypocrisy of people who decry gender, race or sexual oriention (among others) based pejoratives while still calling people who disagree with the…

Why on earth would you think you would get downvoted for disparaging women on r/mensrights?

Well off the top of my head only 4.2% of fortune 1000 ceo positions are held by women, 17.7% of the house of representatives and 20% of the senate. A sample of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science that looked at 5000 of its 5700ish members showed it to be 77% male. A recent guardian ranking of the 100 most powerful people in media showed a little over 10% were female, 1 in the top 10. Now this doesn't necessarily prove anything, but I think it's good evidence that the cultural and poli…

By men that are forced to think a certain way for men that are forced to think a certain way. Also, you are unqualified to say what women generally find attractive. You're not the general female public. I have a friend who is bodybuilder and women swarm on him like flies on shit any time he goes anywhere in public simply due to his physique. Most are open about it too so there's no confusion what they want. I'm as qualified as you are. We're all just talking here and I don't have be an entire se…

I don't think it is the majority of men, the majority of men don't play a great deal of video games. I'm drawing my conclusions based on about 13 years of experience playing MMO's, FPS's, and RTS online and participation in the various subcommunities surrounding these games, as well as probably far to much redditing over the last 4 or 5 years or so. I'm not sure its what the majority of men want, but I am sure it's what a significant chunk of the men who play video games want. I've been to conve…

So you're saying that no girl. (In fact I might argue most) Ever wanted to look extremely attractive and end up with maybe the most attractive male counterpart? I'm not saying that at all. All I'm saying is that in western society, men have far more influence over what both genders are pressured to look like than women. This effects both sides not just one. The only difference here would be the personality characteristics of the characters portrayed here, but there are plenty of both male and fe…

You can't be seriously equating the 'oppression' of men in India, a country with an horrific record when it comes to women's rights with what the blacks in pre-civil rights America endured.

First, assuming this "male fantasy" nonsense to be true, the "male fantasy" would only be their fantasy because of the sexism men face to actually conform to that stereotype. Which, is hardly the work of men exclusively. Not exclusively, but overwhelmingly. Video games are by and large made by men, for men. The editors of mens health magazines and largely dudes, the directors, executive producers, stars and audiences of this shit are overwhelmingly male. Women generally don't find that kind of s…

Well, it would be a valid point, both are examples of male fantasy. Duke looks and acts how the physically mediocre and insecure males who dominate the gaming market wish they looked and acted while the woman looks and dresses like how the males who dominate the gaming market wish women looked and dressed. In all the massively disproportionate circle jerking hatred the woman received it gets lost that the VAST majority of video-games out there are infantile male power fantasies. Feel free to exp…

Doesn't need to be a part of the intrinsic power structure of society to be a thing. I'm not saying straight people are persecuted, but there do exist people out there in the world that will think less of a person just because they're a straight white male. If you think that a person is somehow 'lesser' because of their sexual orientation, skin color or gender, you are still a bigoted moron even if the race/gender/sexual orientation you scorn happens to be the majority power structure. Now most …
