Not sure if this counts, but I would say that the reason I have not divorced yet is because I don't feel like I have enough money.

Thank you. I am starting to gain the courage to take the step I need. It's just so hard to be at a point in your career where you have finally reached a modestly comfortable lifestyle, then know you are about to intentionally pound it back to the rice and bean days. On top of that, while I know I can be fine, I want to provide well for my kids and, yes, even my ex as she spent almost 2 decades staying home. I will have some substantial alamony and CS to contend with.

There are a ton of pros. Adventure, freedom, and depending on what you get it can be really really comfortable. Cons... It's a depreciating asset. Repairs. At some point dating maybe a little more challenging. Or maybe not.

I think I could be a great setup. I assume there are no kids in the mix? Check out where you would park it though. Depending on the campsites in your area, you may not be out a whole lot cheaper than rent on a small apartment.

I do have to keep reminding myself to take it slow. Day by day, week by week, year by year. We've been married 17 years. Have a 15-year-old and a 12-year-old.

She is pretty deep into EMDR right now. She's been doing it for about a year. It's taken her to a really bad place, and our relationship is worse than it has ever been. It's just hard to see a way out. When she started, we knew it would get worse before it got better... But after how many months do you just keep pressing on?

That's tough. But thanks for the encouragement.

I hear you. She is deep into individual counseling now. Maybe couples counseling will be a part of the journey down the road.

It's a long sad story. Unresolved childhood trauma has basically caused her to be incapable of relationship. We just coexist. I'm at a breaking point, and cannot foresee doing this for the rest of my life.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
