I wouldn't be so sure. Ii have a similar policy as this dude. If I date a girl that wants to sleep with other people, I'm not naive enough to think she wont. And even if she won't, which she will, she's going to resent me for restricting her desires. Not a healthy situation, we just want two different things and need to move on

They didn't get 3k. Reason being, you only get 500 apiece for appearing on Judge Judy, you need a legitimate pending court case, which you agree to drop, and you sign a contract that assigns Judge Judy as a legal arbiter of your case. If she finds a case for 3 grand toward the plaintiff, it's the defendant that has to pay that, so if they're dividing up the money, it's a zero sum

Counterclaims are a thing. You can sue back at someone for the same issues rather than creating another hearing. Then the dynamic is that the plaintiff testifies, the defendant rebuts and then testifies themselves, and then the plaintiff rebuts and the judge makes a ruling on the overall damages in favor of one or the other

I don't think being in the audience at one talk happening at a weekend-long convention constitutes a professional environment. Call me a hipster but developer conventions are some of the most laid back experiences ever. It's just people talking about cool ways to be better developers
