It happened to me a year and half ago. You didn’t do anything wrong. I stopped trying to reason. Move on and let it be. There will be other women who are attractive to you.

Second that. I would have moved on and get her out of my life. Someone used to say something like this. If one loves you, he or she would never give you up. If one would give you up, he or she were using you.

Just focus on yourself and if you have kids, focus on their well being. Don’t waste your precious time and life. You can’t chase back what you have spent. Focus on never waste your time, your love and life again.

This book Rebuilding when your relationship ends by Bruce Fisher is really helpful. It echoes what OP pointed out. May be it will help everyone going through this messy situation to come out healthier and live a better life.

Find a way to release the pressure you built inside. For me, it was a long walk.

My advice is it depends on the person. I am going through the process after 20+ years of marriage. We both have professional careers and children together. My first priority is my children. I want to make sure they will have the least impact possible. Like in your situation, we both still care about each other. I don’t want her to get hurt in this divorce process. I read somewhere that how you separate represent who you are and a good separation pave the way for your next relationship. Hope this…

Very common. Happened to me. Married for 23years and was surprised by the divorce last year. Thought she always had my back. Turned out she has been planning the separation for 10 years. Who does this? If I am not happy I would say it or look for help. Why wait til there is no turning point?

Updateme what you’ll do. I am in a similar situation. Kids are 15 and 14. Pay disparity/ divide the assets could mean a lot of money. Do you pay SS til kids turn 18? How about college? 50-50? If we delay the divorce, 4-5 years later, the cost will be even more.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
