That sounds ridiculous in the current climate, but its historically true (could find personality studies which show this). For a long time, the status quo WAS misogynistic (think mad men era). This led to feminist thinking being anti status quo. Academia however, has a huge impact on culture. So eventually anti status quo feminist thinking became mainstream through student education.
