The first. Especially when I'm right, as in this case. Think a bit about when you had to deal with someone who simply couldn't memorise his task, or took what you considered an inordinate amount of time to figure out how to deal with a problem. Or the reverse, when someone started being frustrated over your ability to memorise or figure it out as quickly as them. And then think about how that impacts relationships. You might find a lot of answers that way.

My current one claims she does. I believe her, on a certain level. Having something to talk about after the fucking is done can only be a plus, right?

Sure. Women want what they can't get. I can also explain my own gender's preferences in one sentence. Men want what they can't get.

Europe where? I can imagine Scandis or the literal Dutch to go Dutch, however here in the Balkans/Mediterranean it's the man's job to ask out, pay and all that jazz. We aren't one country and one culture, you know.

It's not pickiness that's the problem, for ages before the 60's you had to deal with the girl and her family, priest and village being picky and things functioned somehow. The real problem is out-of-control egocentricism, but that one spans across genders. The "I owe nothing to no one and deserve more than I'm getting" attitude. The dating scene right now is just one symptom of it, and eventually it'll bury us all.

Based on my experiences, I concluded people are terrible in general. The whole gender war is just one aspect of how we're a terrible species. Our treatment of the opposite gender is the equivalent of kids squishing bugs while joyfully laughing, just a bit more elaborate.

Only once, and even that one wasn't because I noticed her and went there with intention of chatting her up. I heard her talking on the phone in a foreign language and became curious what language it was.

I'm getting quite pissed off at both sides here, honestly, because it's becoming a feedback loop where both sides insult everybody in the middle, slowly polarising the society and making everybody a little bit more insane by the day. So in the vein, let me get into the crazy old man yelling at clouds mode and tell you this: SOME WOMEN DON'T LIKE BALD HEADS. SOME WOMEN LIKE BALD HEADS. SOME MEN DON'T LIKE BIG TITTIES. SOME MEN LIKE BIG TITTIES. YOU CAN'T PLEASE EVERYONE. IDEAL PARTNER DOESN'T EXI…

Yeah fuck the average, that's the same as with wealth, a small amount of extreme cases can skew the graph a lot. Better tell me what's the median, that's way more useful a measure.

She did buy heavily into some sort of mean girl archetype, but I saw quickly enough it was mostly a very misguided coping strategy (see my other reply). I don't believe she was fundamentally a toxic person, she just learned to associate relationships with conflict and violence. And I was simply not the right guy for her to heal, especially not in the situation we were both in back then.

Not currently in a LTR, have several behind me though. I felt sad for them, very protective and had a huge wish to just magically make whatever made them cry disappear. What I usually did was just hug them tightly and hold them until they calmed down. I avoided talking. Somehow I felt any words from me would be just empty. If they told me something, I listened. I cried in front of two of my then-girlfriends. One was completely at loss what to say and told me that. The other one didn't do anythin…

Yeah, she had an alcoholic dad who liked to thrash the house in drunken rage and once I had to go rescue her because he tried to beat her up. And to make it even worse, she had just come home from the hospital after she got injured in a traffic accident. So yeah, I understood immediately what's up when she told me that, decided that's not a game I want to play, told her that and that was the end. It still bugs me, tho. The thing is, I'm not that healthy either, I have a ton of my own baggage and…

There's a caveat though, as "crying" and "expressing negative emotions" aren't equal. One can be angry and screaming too and I'd react to it differently. I'm very bad at handling angry people for example and it's generally easier for me to help people who are sad rather and angry/pissed off. See, on the other hand I used to date a certain N. who teased me until the end after one time I lost composure and cried in front of her, and who straight up demanded shortly before breakup that I get pissed…

The skinny of it is this answer I posed on this topic. Indices which led me to this belief are found in almost every sociology textbook and in a lot of literature about modernisation or industrial revolution, from fiction to studies like "The Making of the English Working Class" by E.P. Thompson. In brief: for most of the history, it paid to have a close-knit family which worked as a unified economic unit. Only with industrial revolution it became common and expected the main provider will do it…

Which is something that can be fixed. Look, everything you said just confirms my thesis that the necessity of male absence is a social construct.

The sentiment that guys need to provide for their wives and kids is indeed hardwired. The sentiment that the way to do it is by being at work all the time is definitely not hardwired. What I wrote. It's possible to provide while not being absent. Especially if there's a paid paternity leave, which is something I guess both you and the guy from the OP are resolutely against. Or even better, working from home.

Isn't that how it was for a lot history? For most of history, it was not. Because for most of history most men were subsistence farmers or small artisans who worked at home or close to it. They weren't forced to stay in their workplace for a fixed amount of time every day. Just as their wives didn't just sit at home the whole day but did their share of farm duties or shop work, as well as kids who were old enough to do it. The basic economic unit was a family. Its breakdown as an economic unit a…

There are also tons of women that are just like that, but that's not the kind of girl the average egomaniacal basement-dwelling redditor looks for.

Trans people are the best way for men and women to understand each other. That's why extremists on both sides hate them even more than the opposite gender. It's not any actual phobia, it's the fact their stories might bring to understanding and ruin the hate their ideologies are based on.

Because everybody wants what they can't have. That has nothing to do with gender, it's just that the results are different accordng to it, among other things.

Yeah, that's such a fake first world problem it's ridiculous. Let's be realistic, for the largest part of the globe - including us, no matter how much we pretend it's otherwise - the main reason for having kids is precisely financial anxiety. Those who don't have kids because it's expensive simply don't think about who will pay their pension funds. In other words, in this case people's interest and government's interest really align. Or rather, people are working against their own interest by be…

It works like that on one level. On the other level, we have strong enough libidos that we'd want to fuck even someone we aren't really into. Your average schmuck is too incompetent to be noticed by women, so even when they get into a relationship with someone they don't vibe with, they'll keep it going to satisfy their sexual urges, to mutual disappointment.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/09/21 09:35 AM

And why exactly is it in people's interest to have more kids?

This is not a gendered phenomenon. All my friemds, male or female, have these issues. Women however I've noticed are more likely to vocalise this stress. Or, and I know this is an insane idea but bear with me for a second, men complain less because we have less to complain about?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/21 02:53 PM

Well it's not that we don't think the same about them. The "Cool Girl" trope exists for a reason, and it's literally the same thing just from male perspective. My guess is that this is what happens when your society becomes developed enough that you don't need a partner to survive.

I'm an "FDS-er," and for all the flack we get, our strategies are explicitly designed to weed out men who view relationships as transactions ... while being women who view relationships as transactions. From your handbook: If he is not consistently investing his resources in you, he is not interested. Many people won't notice it because in the FAQ it was cleverly renamed as "investing into relationship", but there are a ton of posts like this.

Yes. A classmate that I had a mild crush on used it to constantly put me into situations where I would embarrass myself, told untruths about me to my other friend so that they all cut me off, basically made me dependent on her and then doing some kiddie sort of psychological torture. When I asked her once why was she doing it, she answered me she likes being powerful.

Yeah but they were only relevant for the upper middle class which was much smaller than today, and much more culturally divided from the proletarian majority.

True. But you didn't have people who were only (or principally) famous and imitated just for being themselves. That was something that began with Lord Byron and only became mainstream among all classes with the coming of movies.

In essence, women think they deserve a hot rich high status man who has his shit together and is going places in life, while offering nothing in return other than their fat ugly bodies and copious quantities of mental baggage/issues. I've never met such a woman. Sure, I know some with a massive princess complex, but they're all lookers. In their case, I think the tipping point was somewhere in the mid-late teens, when they subconsciously they can actually get their way simply through their looks…

What you described has nothing to do with my experience with depression, nor with anyone else who I met while getting help for it. Do your research. You can start with this (credit to u/NonRock)

You are conflating extreme manipulators with actually depressed people. Don't do that. It's ignorant and it's offensive. And there is no known cure for major depression either. It can be managed, but as of now there's only hope that it passes by itself. Often it doesn't. I'd give my right eye to actually feel joy again in anything I do or experience, but...

At one point, short before slitting my wrists, I stayed in bed for three days. All the energy I had was used for shitting, pissing and drinking. I wasn't eating, I lost five kilos in two weeks. Do you think I did that for shits and giggles? Do you think that while sliding down to that state it's helpful to hear "you can't be like that 24/7, nobody likes that"? Would you tell somebody with cancer "you can't be like this all day, it's not fun and I don't feel nice watching you like that"? Because,…

Male here. Never. Never. About once or twice a month. I have my own style, which is neat, looks good on me and which I don't plan on changing. Truth be told, I very much dislike current male fashion. I don't look like a hobo or a neckbeard and I don't stink, if that's what you have in mind. Months or years. I have profiles, I don't update them, I don't really put much effort into it all because online dating is basically talking to a photo. Zero, and yes. So if you want to label me a herbivore m…
