She's pretty, why is she dating guys as broke as she is?

I would be upset if my boyfriend had been indiscriminate with previous partners (he wasn't). He would be too (I wasn't). I don't imagine we're unusual.

He doesn't want a stay-at-home wife. I do defer to his opinions because he's brilliant and deserves that. I think most women, if they could find men they greatly respected to date, would be happy to defer to them.

I got fed up with what this article complains about: video-game-playing, pot-smoking, no-interest-in-marriage man-children, so I started telling guys up-front that I am dating with the intention to settle down, not "have fun." Turned off most guys, of course. I am now dating an Indian guy. He has a reasonable timeline (officially moving in together after dating a year) he's ambitious, wants marriage and kids, pays the check on most dates, pretty much everything a girl could want. I honestly don'…

Every guy I know IRL feels the same as your roommate.

Can I ask what you mean by "not done with school," and what dreams you can't accomplish with a wife that you can with a serious girlfriend?

It certainly isn't fake, but I don't know how google comes up with its suggestions. Maybe my previous searches changed what I saw?

There are PLENTY of nice guys who want to settle down, have a couple babies, buy a house and save for retirement. They generally aren't looking for a used-up 35 year old who's dated dozens of guys and had casual sex with even more.

When it does, I'll take accountability for my actions. I hope you do too.

It's really not about religion or morality, it's about men making themselves victims when their semen is within their control. ETA: I am totally in favor of abortion for the sake of controlling the population of the poor. I just find this line of reasoning about injustice pretty childish. You're in control, if you choose to take risks, well then you assume the fucking risk.

Well if we are mere creatures of biology then we should want to reproduce as much as possible. If we have rational reasons for wanting not to, then we should also exercise self-control.

Sure men want marriage in the abstract, just often not with the women who actually date them, and not until several years from now, whenever "now" is.

It solves the problem of either gender trying to dodge their responsibilities. Both parties have the choice to sterilize, not have sex, or take good precautions and assume the risk.

Make abortion illegal absent medical necessity; problem solved?

"Don't you know that a rich man is like a pretty girl? You don't marry her just because she's pretty. But, my goodness, doesn't it help? Would you want your daughter to marry a poor man? You'd want her to have the most wonderful things in the world. Why is it wrong for me to want those things?" -Marilyn Monroe as Lorelei Lee in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes

I am certainly not going to defend hormonal birth control in either gender. I think they've hurt women in general (aside from stroke risk, making women more emotionally fragile) and as much as I'd love to see the shoe on the other foot, I think you probably shouldn't be having sex unless you assume the risk of condom failure (as in, are sticking it in someone you wouldn't mind being tied to for 18 years).

It's got to be hormones by a mile. Vasectomies are fairly safe and once you're healed up, you're good as new. Hormonal BC for women includes stroke risks, mood changes, weight gain, etc etc etc. If you're sure you never want kids, vasectomy is the clear choice. If you aren't, deal with condoms, hormones or uncertainty.

A super attractive woman would probably not have played along so much, since she would have honed her "polite brushing off" skills. It's not like game show hosts have never commented on pretty female participants. The difference is his reaction.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
