I think it could go either way. There are definitely plenty (most?) girls who are too shy/don't know how to ask/don't ask because of social expectations. But I wouldn't rule out the possibility that the occasional man gets upset/is rude to an ugly girl approaching him.

I think on the street is generally not a good place to hit on girls though. It just comes with too many negative connotations. Same goes for public transport.

Sounds like a good approach. Plus bartenders tend to be interesting, fun people--not to mention if they like you you'll get better service. I used to have pretty bad social anxiety, until I took on a job that forced me to initiate conversations with strangers. Now I feel comfortable approaching just about anybody. I'd recommend this to anyone looking to get more comfortable interacting with strangers.

Meh, I don't think you can blame the slut/player double standard on some kind of inherent "sexual economics." And even if that were true, isn't it in everyone's best interest if we get rid of that double standard? Women who want to sleep with lots of people would feel freer to do so and men would probably have more sex as a result. I think it's totally possible to do away with the double standard. So much of "human nature" is socially determined rather than biological and thus can be changed wit…

Hm. I have heard the argument that men have the power in the traditional "man approaches/woman accepts or rejects" dynamic a few times before but for different reasons and in feminist forums instead of pickup/seduction forums. I think fundamentally it's correct though. As a man, you might think women have all the power because they can accept/reject your advances. But for an unattractive women, nobody advances on her and she doesn't have that choice. This quote basically sums it up: "See, if you…

If you really just want to have sex, try posting on your local craigslist. You can definitely (eventually) find women (who aren't hookers) who want to sleep with you. They might not be the most attractive women ever, but in my town anyway there are tons of people hooking up through craigslist and even more who just "sext" with random strangers they met online. I know you mentioned online dating but craigslist is usually a better place to find casual sex, so give it a try. This isn't a permanent …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
