Feels like there’s a lot of victimhood here, justified or not. How long has this been going on? I'm guessing a long ass time because it sounds like you’re stuck on how unfair it all feels. You asked if the grass gets greener... sometimes it does, but not by waiting for the universe to treat you differently. A few weeks of playing mom of the year doesn’t undo years of absentee parenting. An 8-year-old can be swayed in the short term, but you can’t replace the bond the two of you have with some meals. Just keep being steady and showing up like you always have. That’s what holds up long-term, in court and in your kid’s memory.

No, she won't. I'm sorry you’re going through this. And I'm glad your kids have you. My stbx is also a drinker and made some wild accusations, too, so I couldn’t relate more to constantly being on the defensive and not feeling angry enough.
