I would say it's a question of value. Meaning, like you said, is there value in attempting to behavior correct with someone who isn't your GF? Probably not.

I would purchase weights for your home. It eliminates the excuse of not being able to get to the gym.

Your recommendations read like the random texts I got encouraging me to vote the week leading up to the election.

Serious question: do you lift weights? For men, it's a natural way to regulate your hormones.

My little is a blessing. My frustrations with traffic are more about not being comfortable in my own skin enough to realize that the blue route takes you through some of the most gorgeous terrain in the US. These car trips have also allowed me to introduce my girl to punk rock, which she now loudly requests the second we get in my car. She's not jammin out to roots radicals in the car with her mother, I can tell you that!

She clearly has a strong identity, projects her voice to be heard, controls her personal space and is just a super confident person, even at her young age. Certainly some of it is just her being a toddler, but IMO there's a large component of her essential self that informs her just doing her own thing and she DGAF if people follow her or not (and normally she draws a crowd so clearly her energy is magnetic). It wasn't until my marriage started crumbling and ultimately lead to a separation that …

Interestingly, I've learned a lot of these lessons by watching my 3 year old daughter. Unfortunately, I've let life beat many of these concepts out of me, until I started integrating many of the things I've learned here and by being a dad to my little girl.

I'm here to experience the estuary between TBP & TRP and to form my own opinions based on a broader pool of knowledge than just reading things on TRP / TBP would offer. My marriage is heading towards divorce, and if that experience has taught me anything, it's that I know next to nothing about how to be a good participant in a relationship/marriage.

Thx for saying that. The truth is, I'm so far out of my comfort zone that anything I do these days is new territory. Weird time, man. Weird times. Thx again. Means a lot.

She's a great parent. We're both great parents, just not great partners. I actually think that if I start to move on, it'll take pressure off of my STBXW. Maybe I'm fooling myself, but we've got this idea that if it's bad for both of us, then it will be bad for our daughter and neither of us want that, so that's why things have been so good with the communication between us.

/r/askMRP09/02/16 07:06 PM

It will turn ugly. That's what I'm afraid of. I'm afraid of an amicable divorce turning into a war. I don't want that, but I guess I don't have to tell my STBXW anything unless I feel romantically interested in someone.

Yeah, I will. That's not even the question at this point. Should I make sure she knows my deal prior to meeting up. I don't want to make like I'm pulling the wool over anyone's eyes. My profile says as much...

Right. move the fuck on. I gotcha. It's a hard pill to swallow and I'm not sure why she would continue to tell me that I look good. Probably just feeding some twisted ego of hers. I guess the truth is the terrain here feels alien, and I'm a bit scared. Of what, I'm not sure. Meeting up someone new is an effort to kill my hamster.

Get a gym buddy, or do what I did when I was a fat college freshman and join a martial arts school and get a job working over a grill. if you go the martial arts route, make sure it's not some bullshit class where you don't sweat. my personal recommendation would be shao lin wushu, MMA, or Muay Thai kickboxing.

At the very least, it's heading to a divorce where two parents can communicate and give our daughter the love she needs, which was my primary goal to establish with the meeting. At the most, I figure out if my wife can continue to add value to my life and we move forward together as married parents. You don't know me, and you don't know my wife. Your comment about her sucking someone's cock while my daughter is in the other room is both completely off topic, and totally unhelpful. To be fair, yo…

I appreciate your analysis. Funny thing is, saying get over yourself came out of me as naturally as breathing. I didn't want to hurt her necessarily, but she fuckin does need to get over herself. I can't quite remember, but I think she replied "I know I'm no snowflake." I believe I just looked at her and nodded.

She's not my mission here. My daughter is my mission, and I firmly believe that my daughter is better off with my wife and I together in an adult, loving, and great marriage. I think it's worth it to see if she can still provide that kind of life for the three of us. If she can't, then I have to execute my divorce plan, if she can it'll take time to rebuild it and I think it's worth it to give us that time.

Well, if she breaches the topic of "us" I've got plenty to say about what I want. I'm not sure pushing the topic at this point will do me any good. My plan is to date her and attract her. I'm not going to go all Rambo and fuck this thing up.

I'm not fucking her that night, and I'm not asking about who she's been spending time with. It doesn't make a difference moving forward. You're absolutely right about doing the chasing though, but I'm OK with doing that to a point. I also am taking the phrase "we should do this again" out of my vocabulary. I'll be seeing her tmrw when she drops off my daughter at the condo, and when she picks her up Sunday. I'm not saying anything about our rendezvous next week during those two moments.

You're having trouble seeing the picture clearly, because you're too close to it to see the entire thing. You've got to back up a bit, and it should reveal itself. I'm not sure what backing up a bit means for you, but whatever that is, do that. Best of luck, mate.

Buddy, live life with a clean mind. Even if she never delivers her explosive pay load, this will eat you the fuck up inside and it will transform into something for more destructive...possibly a stroke, or a severe personality disorder that may destroy your life anyway. Honestly, it sounds like you've got one of those on your hands at the very least, but there may be depths to this personality disorder that you may sink to that you can't even fathom. I'm not kidding. Tell her and don't wait for …

I'm curious what some of the vets around here might say, but I'm thinking there's nothing they can say that would make you feel any worse than you already feel. Having said that though, I would venture to guess you're about as good a candidate for monk mode that there is. It also sounds to me like it's only a matter of time before this heat seeking missile will deliver the message to your wife about what you've done. I would preemptively come clean, and just deal with the consequences. You owe t…

I am, where you were. I'm married with a 2.5 year old daughter, but my wife and I have been separated for roughly 2 months (not what I want). It still is killing me, but my weak moments are fewer and further between and with less amplitude. I've only just now starting feeling that OI, and realizing I don't need her, but I would rather it work out. That said, I sincerely hope I can have a story similar to yours at some point. I would just be direct and say, "we're a handsome couple of fellas, aren't we?" I think by adding the uptick of a query at the end, it will leave the door open for her to add to it.

I hear you there. I mean, I'm in the basement of this relationship right now and I may never get out of it. If I don't get out of it I already feel like I know I'm going to be OK moving forward. Because this is the mother of my child I feel like she's worth the effort. She and I have plans to go get drinks next week to see what happens so I'm just collecting as much information as I can while I matriculate through this journey

Well, that certainly puts a different shine in it. If the only way to pay the freight on this ride is to constantly work on my value then so be it. It makes me feel better anyway. I'm sore as fuck from the gym last night, and one solid thing about this separation is being able to take my carcass to the woodshed without any finagling. Thx again!
/r/askMRP29/12/15 08:10 PM

I see. I really hope I can right this ship. I know it's not all my fault, but I really made a misstep when I echoed her desire to take a separation. Things were so toxic between us, and recently she said that the separation has aloud her to "appreciate me again". IDK man, I'm learning the hard way over here. Best of luck in the new year with you and your family, and thanks for the input.

Yeah, I get that and our problems didn't really start until after our child came. The time with each other became strained, and probably more so versus two people who work day jobs. I work as a physical therapist during the day, so our careers couldn't be more different. In fact, it was that difference that drew us together in the first place (although I have musical talent and play my hand at doing amateur stand up comedy, filming short comedy films etc.) What I've been reflecting on lately, is…

That's not good for your heart man. Things have to change for you, one way or the other, because keeping all that inside is going to kill you. It's good that you've been controlling your own shit, but remember that it's not about controlling her. You can't do that. If what you say is true, it sounds like you're looking at a dead canary in a mine shaft. Nobody should feel this way.

/r/askMRP21/12/15 04:55 PM

Thank you for that. I am doing all those things that you've mentioned. The one thing that I probably haven't done, is making peace with the fact that things in my life are not 100% OK right now. I need to work on that. I know that I'm subscribing to a paradigm that dictates that my life be 100% OK, because when see Instagram posts of my buddies with their happy families, I just crumble internally. But in reality, that's them and I should be happy for them, and not use that information as an excu…

Yeah, you're right. I'm not in the market to be "fucking chicks right now". That's an important distinction. I have been making sure that my social calendar on my days that I don't have my daughter stays fairly booked. I'm going to a holiday party tmrw night where I know there will be single women there, and I have been looking forward to chatting up some ladies here and there. I also have been making it a point to chat up any interesting looking women that I see out and about, and it feels good…

Now, keep in mind that I haven't dated in almost 10 years (married, for now), but if I met them through social media I would do coffee, then if it goes well suggest getting a drink later that same night. However, if it's a dumpster fire, I'm out in 20 mins, because I've got "a thing" and it's only coffee. If it's someone I started chatting up IRL first, then you go straight to drinks because you probably met them at a bar anyway, right? "No", you say, "I met them at catholic mass, not at a bar."…

Well, the letter lives on my Google docs and I just deleted it, so that's about as gangster as I can get in this scenario. Also, I'm not offended. I'm looking for a total reinstall to my CPU here. I don't have time to let my feelings get hurt. I'm 38. I'm at the half way point if I'm lucky.

I'm not exactly celebrating that fact, and was merely mentioning it to get perspective. If you read my post you would see that I'm all to aware of the critical place I'm in. Either way, I see what you're saying, but it's not like I'm dancing down the street singing "ding dong the witch is dead".

If you're referring to yelling, I don't think raising your voice is ever helpful unless: 1. Someone's life is in danger OR 2. You're addressing a room full of people and there's no microphone. I would take that anger and focus it elsewhere, and calmly voice what you are upset about.
