When I met my husband 21 years ago, I didn’t think he’d like me. He was so good looking. But we’ve been married 20 years now. I remember a friend telling me when I was dating him that I didn’t know how pretty I was and didn’t have the confidence I should have. My husband has only gotten better looking with age. He is 43 now and I’m 41. He gets stared at wherever we go still. I am lucky he doesn’t really have time to think about talking to other women. I’m insanely attracted to him still and we s…

I think if I was single in today’s world, I would be looking for a religious man, just like my husband. We met 20 years ago and have been married for 19. He never pressured me to do anything. We got married before having sex. He held strongly to his beliefs and values, even when it was difficult. It was so important to him. Our sex life has always been good, it’s maybe even gotten better with time. Maybe men like him are harder to find in the world today but church is where I’d look if I was sin…

I used to get stared at when out at the grocery store, now at 39, my teenage daughters get all the stares. I don’t mind so much but now I get worried about who’s looking at my kids. I think a woman can be beautiful at any age, even when they’re older. Maybe not hit on as much but can still be fascinating and feminine in the way they act and carry themselves.

I haven’t watched her videos but they sound similar to Margarita Nazarenko. I take the black cat energy to mean unbothered. I’ve always been kinda clingy in my marriage and get hurt when my husband doesn’t want to spend all his time with me. I think I must be anxiously attached and he must be the avoidant but it’s worked I guess because we’ve been married 19 years. I am trying to change myself now though to be more “unbothered”. I think that means focusing on yourself instead of constantly worry…

Thank you! Yeah, work schedules can be tough. That’s good it’s only three days. I think I got used to not having him around for so many things over the years that I wanted every extra minute of his time. He had a job that made a lot of money but took all his time and made him very unhappy and his other job was his dream job but we couldn’t make a living at it. Now we can and he’s so happy all the time. It makes me happy and I have been trying to learn how to not add unnecessary stress with the d…

My husband recently quit one of his jobs so he has a lot more free time now. We have time to do things we never could before. We go grocery shopping together which we never did before. He can do a lot more things with the kids. It’s pretty amazing. But when he wants to do his own thing I’m learning that’s it’s a good thing instead of a maybe he doesn’t want to be with me thing.

I read it years ago and forgot about it but I just bought the audiobook and I’ve been listening to it the last couple days to listen to while I’m cleaning. It’s really making me re-think how much I know and understand about men. It’s like we speak completely different languages. Maybe that’s what’s been the cause of all the little arguments I’ve had with my husband over the last 20 years.

I’m 39 and I’m finally becoming a little fearful of getting older. I don’t feel “old” yet and felt really young in my 30’s. I don’t feel like I look too old yet. People tell me I look younger than my age. I have some gray hairs that I color myself. I try to get ready and look nice every morning. Always have my makeup on. Have some pounds I’d like to lose and I’m working on but I’m not obsessed about looks so much. I’ve been married 18 years and I’m pretty sure my husband is still attracted to me…

I think you could be right! Last night he told me and showed me how much he likes me sending him pictures! I didn’t think something so little as sending him pics could have such a big impact. It’s something I would definitely recommend everyone if you want to make things more exciting in your marriage.

Sent him a picture today. He didn’t respond but he called me from work right after. One of my kids might have seen it because they know his password. I told him sorry for sending it when he got home and he said to not be sorry at all and he was blushing and asked me about the bra I had on in the picture and said he’s never seen it before. I think this could be fun! ;)

After my first date(blind date)with my husband, I am the one who called him first. He was so good looking and the date went really well and he asked me for my number and gave me his. I remember telling my parents about it and my dad said I should call him. He said sometimes guys like to be pursued. I thought that was a bad idea because I was never the type to do that but I did and we’ve been together ever since. Months later we got engaged and I was doing someone’s hair for their wedding(I worke…

Been married almost 18 years and I’m still crazy about him. Ups and downs through the years but he’s such a good man. Always been faithful. Has always worked hard so I could stay home with the kids. Has a good heart. I haven’t always been as appreciative of all he does for me as I should. I think we both have sometimes taken each other for granted at times. But I’m trying to work on myself and be more loving and sweet. Now that our kids are getting older, I’ve been trying to spend time doing thi…

All my kids are in school(youngest just turned 7)so I got a part time job this year. My oldest daughter has been struggling with going to school. She keeps missing constantly, so her counselor recommended trying half days for her. I just quit my job this past week so I can take her later in the day and the younger kids at the regular time. I had only been working since August so I feel kind of silly quitting, but it’s for my daughter. I was also really tired all the time. Besides working, I had …

I was a stay at home mom till this year. All my kids are in school now. I only work 4.5 hours a day so I can pick them up and take them to school and I’m off when they’re off, but it’s been a little difficult for me. After work I have about a half hour to myself and then I’m in the car for an hour picking all of them up. I haven’t been taking care of the house like I’d like to. I love the job but trying to decide if I like it enough to be OK with things being messier and more chaotic in my home …

I don’t think it matters what sports or music you like. One thing my husband hates is women swearing. I occasionally yell the word “shit” when I stub my toe or when I’m driving and something scary happens and he tells me to stop cursing. If he hears an actress or a woman saying the F word on tv, his opinion about her goes way down. I don’t get it because he swears every time he gets angry. He just thinks women who swear are less attractive.

I don’t have experience with this because I’ve been married since 20(37 now). But when I was around 12 my dad had a talk with me about boys. He told me they only wanted one thing and if I gave in, they would no longer have respect for me and leave to go onto the next girl. He said they’d tell me all kinds of things I’d want to hear to see if they could get what they wanted. And told me I should wait for a guy who was willing to wait for me until we could get married. This stuck with me forever. …

My husband and I have only ever been with each other. Obviously in the beginning, no one really knew what to do. But 16 years later…Well he knows exactly what to do. No complaining from me at all. So I don’t think “body count” matters.

Great advice, thanks! Thanks to everyone else, too. I think I will just need to make more time to work on teaching my kids and getting organized myself. The cleaning service came today and cleaned the bathroom and it took four hours and it was really not that bad to begin with. The room I was least embarrassed about. She was really nice and did a good job but when I deep clean it, I do just as good and it doesn’t take that long. But it was a new experience that I am glad I tried.

True! But I hope it will be easier for everyone, even my husband and I to want to keep things looking nice after we have someone come in and help deep clean. I’ve never done it before and don’t really know what to expect but it has helped a little already because I was pretty motivated last night and cleaned some things I’d been neglecting.

I may have a day or so or a little time during the week that I am home when they’re not. My kids are 13, 11, and 6. I made them all chore charts and hung them up. Mostly for keeping their rooms clean, the basement living room picked up(they sleep down there), doing some of their laundry, cleaning the kitchen table, emptying the dishwasher, picking up after themselves , things like that. But lately they (mostly my oldest) tell me they don’t feel like it and have a lot of attitude about helping. T…

You don’t have to have a relationship with your family if you don’t want to. Your boyfriend hasn’t experienced what you have with your family and he shouldn’t push you to. I cut off a crazy aunt a while back and many people have told me I should try talking to her again and have a relationship with her but it’s easy for other people to tell you to forgive and to take the abuse that made you cut the family member/members off in the first place. You are the only person who can decide if it’s worth…

OP, why do you treat yourself this way? Don’t you know there are many other men in the world? Let me ask you a serious question. If you had a daughter, is this the kind of man you would want her to date/marry?

Advice I’d give is definitely have something you could fall back on. And find someone who loves to work. My husband has two jobs, one is farming. He always says most of the problems people have in the world wouldn’t happen if people had a farm. He always tells me he wouldn’t be able to cheat even if he wanted to because he’s so busy. And it’s also something we can do together as a family. I agree that people who are bored with not much to do are the ones who get depressed, anxious, or have time …

My husband and I married young. I was 20 and he was 23. We are both religious, church has been very important to us our whole lives. When we got married, I worked as a cosmetologist and he had a pretty good job. The years before we had our first baby he told me he wanted me to keep working after we had kids. After we had our first baby he told me he didn’t want anyone else taking care of her. I stayed home with all of our kids. We aren’t rich but we have our own home and he is so good at providi…

I thought about homeschooling but this pandemic has somewhat changed my mind. My oldest daughter became very antisocial the last couple years. She is scared of school and doesn’t even like going to the store or restaurant. I am worried if I let her stay home and homeschool her, she will become even more fearful of the world. I admire all the moms that do it!

100% agree! I went to a therapist once for anxiety and she had no idea how to help. She told me she had anxiety herself and was on medication. I went away feeling worse than when I went in. I had to help myself overcome it.

I can understand your dad’s point a little. He sees a man that got his daughter pregnant twice and is just now asking for his blessing to marry her? As a mother of three daughters I would have wanted better. But I am probably old fashioned. You are a family with children now though, so there is really nothing he can do.

I would get out now if I was in your place. This is an issue I’ve had to deal with a lot in my marriage. It’s gotten a little better over the years, but still difficult because I feel like a lot of times my husband puts his parents needs above our own family. I was very young when we married and came from an unloving family and I think I just didn’t know what normal was. It has been the number one issue we’ve had in our marriage.

Dr. Laura Schlessinger. I just love her advice, her strong attitude, and her belief in marriage and family. I love that she cares about children so much and talks about how parents need to think more about their kids instead of being selfish. She has really helped me see things differently and better my marriage.

I’ve been a Stay at Home mom for 10 years and have 3 kids. My youngest is 3 years old. I am a very protective mom, I only have a couple of people I’ve trusted to watch my kids for a date night with my husband here and there. I have no family around other than my husband and kids. I’ve had almost no help ever. My in-laws live nearby but have always acted burdened when we’ve asked if they could babysit sometimes. I have been lucky enough to have a husband that works hard and has agreed that I shou…

I have known some women that I couldn’t for the life of me understand how they could get attention from men. Sometimes a plain looking person can have a certain personality and femininity that attracts men to her. I don’t believe it is alway about looks.

Men finding you attractive has a lot to do with your confidence. A lot. I think in Fascinating Womanhood it even talks about that. It’s the way you carry yourself and the way you feel about yourself. I’ve always been so shy and not very confident. I won a beauty contest once but I have had people tell me I underestimate myself or don’t use the way I look to my advantage. I have always hid from people. I somehow got lucky to find my amazing and handsome husband but I didn’t like getting attention…

Because of the religion my husband and I both share and were raised in, we were taught to save sex for marriage. I think that had a part in us getting engaged after 8 months of dating. I wouldn’t say it is smart to get engaged so quickly, but I got lucky that I found such a good man. We’ve been married almost 13 years now. I think it’s good to find someone who believes the way you do and has the same goals in mind, so you don’t have to set any “ultimatums”.

I love Fascinating Womanhood! My grandma gave me that book when I got married. It’s been quite a while since I’ve read it but it definitely has a lot of good information. I also love listening to Dr. Laura Schlessinger on the radio. Her advice for marriage has really helped me look at things differently. She has a book called Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands that is similar to FW.
