Like I said, I think gender segregation is stupid so you're asking the wrong person. I said I can understand the reasoning, it doesn't mean I agree with it. And it doesn't only work under the assumption that all men are hormone driven racists. I don't assume that women are fun sucking conniving business as a motivation for having a guys only night with my friends. It's just nice having all the guys together.

I was saying I can see why they have the women's hour, since men make up the majority of gym patrons most of the time. I still think gender segregation is stupid, yet I can still understand where the people who pushed for the women only hour are coming from.

Sure in the name of equality I guess. It just doesn't make sense to do that. Frankly I'm against gender segregation, so I would say take away the women's hour. Though it serves a purpose, it just reinforces stupid attitudes about genders.

It's such a trivial issue though, so what, I don't get to use the gym at 8:30 on a Tuesday morning because they've reserved the space for women. I also don't get to use the gym between 11:30 and 1 on Mondays because it's reserved for employees. They should have a non-employee hour, oh wait that's every other time of the day. I'll agree that charging men extra is bullshit, but I don't think giving women an hour out of the week is anything to fuss about.

To be fair, men tend to be the dominant presence at most times of the day in the gym. At least at my university gym, there'll be 50 people in there of which 30-40 are men.

This is the real problem, it's not that this man is paying child support for kids he helped raise for 16 years. It's the fact that you can be on hook for spousal/child support for simply LIVING with someone for 2 years. Also I may be wrong, but I think common law begins after 8 months of living with a partner.

It wouldn't surprise me since anyone serving a plate of emotional appeal tends to group women and children together while ignoring the gender of the children. But I'll be on the lookout for that, pm me of you find it, I'd be very interested in reading that.

What you're referring to is social democracy or democratic socialism, a third way if-you-will. I'm very much a socialist, but I believe that the best way to solve the problem is by resolving the issues with capitalism by promoting a co-operative global capitalist economy (co-operation, rather than competition between states) and a strong welfare state to support the citizenry. Look up Keynesian economics/system/theory whatever.

On one hand, while its stupid to gender this issue. On the other, HIV/AIDS has largely been seen as a problem on the gay community, and of that, almost universally men. I don't think there needs to be a day set aside for women with HIV/AIDS, but more awareness for the issue of HIV/AIDS in the straight community needs to be raised.

Well I'll be continuing on to study in teachers college anyways. I think I'll minor in languages or history, that will give me some expertise in a field I'd enjoy teaching. I totally agree with that, I don't have a problem with teaching elem school, it's just that people don't trust men as much as they trust women in these positions.

I'm studying political science and want to one day become a teacher. I feel like I am blocked from ever teaching elementary school (or anything below grade 7 I would think) simply because of the scrutiny that I would receive from the community. I suppose it doesn't matter in the end because I'd rather teach in a high school or a university if I continued on to graduate school.

Okay, so yeah it sucks that they're barring this kid from growing a mustache for charity. But I think you guys have got it all wrong. The kid is 13, most kids that age can't grow any facial hair. The reasoning that its not an inclusive charity is pure bullshit, but at the same time, pretty much every kid in that school is unable to grow a mustache, not only the girls. To say that the school banned this activity because its not inclusive to girls is ridiculous.

I believe I saw it on cracked, and it had something to do with women's image as portrayed by Hollywood.
