Everyone woman I know who is divorced or considering it says just about the same thing: “I do all of the work, he expects me to take care of him and the kids. I get nothing in return. He has hobbies and takes time to relax but i am expected to be in constant service of my family and take no time for myself. I’m no longer attracted to him physically because i feel like his mother and no woman wants to be sexual with a child. If I get divorced, he will be required to take care of the kids himself …

Which related rights are you referring to?

But you’re talking about a traumatic event and a violent crime as it relates to human people. We are not perpetually one years old. The other static is talking about what happened to A PERSON within THEIR LIFETIME. no actual person would answer the question “have you been raped” with “oh, like this year or last?” certainly you’d agree sexual assault is most relevant to the person it happened to and not the year it happened. And anyone still alive to answer that question deserves to have their st…

Well my grandmother is dead now and I had no reason at the time to believe I should record our conversations. But what kind of evidence would you like?

Can you specify which “privileges” you believe we don’t want to share? Because all I’ve seen in terms of transwomen is women’s sports, women’s shelters, bathrooms, and prisons and for women’s healthcare (OB/OBGYN) not to refer to them as people with certain body parts (as opposed to women) and also not wanting actual medical treatments that have different results for men and women to no longer be studied in terms of their different outcomes for either sex. But please enlighten me as to why I , a…

I didnt experience a whole lot of sexism from the school itself, most of it had to do with what I thought I was supposed to be based on society and often other women (impossibly skinny). There were a few male teachers that all of the girls knew were “trouble” in terms of being inappropriate with female students. I made it a point to be the annoying class clown in their classes and it probably cost me a letter grade but they left me alone so i think it was worth it. I also learned the art of bein…

Also your comment that “men had all of the responsibility” presupposes that giving birth, raising children and other “domestic work” is not a responsibility which I think any parent would tell you is bananas

Women WERE supported by their husbands. They were also the property of their husbands and their property became their husbands property. If their husbands wanted to beat and rape them that was okay, the law would not intervene. If you think that female oppression didn’t exist HISTORICALLY I’m not sure what to tell you dude. I dont have time to explain why the sky is blue either. If you want to argue that women have it good NOW, I’m happy to entertain that argument.

Not at all. It is because they believe that men and women are different. Are bio-women pushing to compete in men’s sports the way trans women are? Of course not. Neither are non binary OR trans men. Is anyone saying we should refer to men as penis-havers the way they are calling women birthing-persons? Of course not. There is a certain amount of priveledge that comes with being bigger and stronger and it can’t be taken away from you. Because many of women’s “privileges” or rights are basically g…

Totally. I think getting boys reading is important to closing that gap. My younger brother got into reading as a kid because of Harry Potter so I’ve tried to be aware of the important of giving books that are of interest to my son, especially fiction. I think that makes a big difference or at least I hope it will

We do lots of stuff outside of regular school which is why I didnt want him totally virtual as I didnt want to be his “teacher” for regular school knowing it would take away from the the learning we do at home for enjoyment. He’s learning to code, is very into geography and we read as much as possible even if that means letting him read “captain underpants” lol. I dont care as long as he’s reading for enjoyment.

Sure thing! https://uncommongroundmedia.com/reddit-purges-womens-health-support-groups/ I’m not sure why the Boy Scouts made the decision they did. I remember reading it was about boosting member numbers and PR. I’m not sure how many women were behind that agenda. The Girl Scouts certainly did not support it.

I do! I have a young son who’s teachers constantly tell me he can’t sit still (yeah I know). He’s very bright though and does well in terms of his school work. Even though he reads above grade level he’s never gotten the highest mark (there are only NI, S and O at his grade level). Interestingly, when we were hybrid during COVID he was the only boy out of 6 kids attending in person in his class. I got weekly emails about him not following directions, being to active, etc. At then end of the year…

Female Reddit groups have been banned too. Especially if they try to exclude men by claiming that people with penises aren’t females. I think the Boy Scout thing was dumb, even the Girl Scouts were pissed about it. But I also think they were trying move on after all of the sexual assault stuff and thought that by letting girls in that women would also be leaders and maybe keep the molestation in check. It is unfortunate because my husband had fond memories of doing Boy Scouts with his dad but wh…

I’m curious as to why you’re using the 12 month statistic for one year to say that these things happen at the same rates every year when the study you linked provides statistics for those things over a persons lifetime? For rape as defined as penetration those numbers are: 19.3% women and 1.7% men. When you include any type of sexual violence including made to penetrate that number is 43.9% women 23.4% men. This is hardly proof that women “rape as much as men”. if your definition of rape is to i…

I’m sorry that’s happened to you. Awful people exist in both male and female bodies. Women weren’t allowed to have bank accounts until as recently as the 70s. Birth control was not allowed for unmarried women until the 60s. Legal abortion- 70s. Pregnancy discrimination in workplaces made illegal 70s. All of this is within the lifetime of people still alive today. Women got the vote almost exactly 100 years ago. Here’s a link if you’re interested in US rights specifically. https://www.google.com/…

Unfortunately there are even legitimate female issues you can’t say openly in feminist circles without being called a bigot. I’m under no illusions that the movement as a whole does not have its issues.

I suppose I think certain spaces should be sex-specific but certainly not all spaces. Which male spaces are you referring to?
/r/MensRights09/08/21 03:44 PM

Why would I be offended? Well I’m not, for starters. If you’re asking why I might have expected to find offensive things on this thread I suppose the answer would be that people often associate MRA with being woman-hating, which you all seem to acknowledge as a preconceived notion, while not an accurate one.

Actually, radfems seem to be the only ones haven’t totally lost their minds. You’d be suprised, woke culture has men in dresses (with penises) telling lesbians that they are bigots for not wanting to have sex with them. Radfems are cancelled left and right for daring to say that women and men are biologically different.

Thanks. I have yet to stumble upon or desire to join a male space so I think we are all good with that. I beleive men and women both deserve sex-specific spaces where we can bitch about who should do the dishes 😊

Perhaps it feels that way today. But feminism from the beginning was about giving women human rights, like the right to own property, to have bodily control, to earn money, vote, have a bank account, and chose when and if to have children. The women who pioneered women’s rights movements likely couldn’t have comprehended that they’d ever have “extra” rights over men. I do agree with you that protecting and providing for females is a natural instinct for males, most species instinctively understa…

I don’t hate men. I’m married to a man. I have a son. I have male friends. Women historically have not had basic rights and were considered property. This is true still in many parts of the world. I also believe in reproductive rights and that’s an issue that’s far from settled even in the US. My interests as a feminist are improving the lives of women and girls especially as it relates to the unique struggles relating to pregnancy and/or the avoidance of becoming pregnant, prenatal and reproduc…
