31 seems like such a common age for this to happen. Maybe I keep seeing it because I too am the same age and wife asked for divorce in August. Yes, unfortunately seperation rarely leads to getting back together, and convincing yourself otherwise is a mistake. I'm so sorry you are going through this betrayal. I'm lucky I guess that my wife hasn't slept with anyone else yet but I can't imagine the jealousy.

This certainly doesn't have the makings of being uncontested. If she even considered having sole custody I wouldn't trust not having an attorney. My stbx and I have never even said that we want to have more than 50/50 custody. If I had even ever heard a rumor she wanted sole custody I would have gotten an attorney. I relate completely with this. My stbx got emotionally spent and said to me, "you could be perfect from here on out but it wouldn't change anything" We've been getting along great since she told me she wanted the divorce, and I feel I have changed, but none of that matters. When they get to the point of being "emotionally spent" as you put it, something in them switches off, and that spark can't be rekindled. I'm still living with her and our kids for now, just trying to enjoy every last moment …
