According to this, the success of suicide rates is higher for men. Attempted suicides are in favor of females: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gender_differences_in_suicide#United_States It's another story why that's the case. It could be suicide method preferences and/or higher rates of pretend suicides or a host of other issues.

if you don't want to have your ass stared at by men then guess what you don't HAVE to wear yoga pants Like that would stop people from staring.

That's clearly a leading question. The first part sets up the context ( the sexual part ) and the second asks a broad/ambiguous question which the comedian then interprets in a way that is unexpected. That's what comedy usually is. Stop with the "Oh, look a comedian proved TRP"!

Your test is interesting but I have a few clarifying questions. What was the menial task she asked you to do? What were the petty offers she made? Can you come up with something she may be able to do for you, which was not mentioned by her and is not sex? I am asking these not to undermine your conclusion but to refine them. Understanding how you evaluate what you can offer and what others can offer can be interesting as well. Aside from that I agree that relationships are based on an exchange o…

The grievances of the author in OP's posted headline may* have been with the fact that women were discouraged from participating in the same activities that would allow them to compete on an even footing. * OP only posted a headline and 1 sentence, which is not enough to judge the merit of the article.

Because there was a historically acknowledged bias against women. The situation, as far as I know, wasn't that they opened the floor to men and women and that women were juts not good enough. The situation was that the floor was open essentially only to men.

Yeah, because it was likely a administrative requirement. Or are you trying to say she wasn't good enough, somehow?

How many women had the flight training and experience to go into space in 1961? Ridiculous... Ah, all those damned women wanting to go to space but never even trying right? right? \s Aren't you ignoring just a little bit of historical context as to why there weren't that many experienced women?

If she was a man would she ever have flown in space? She had more qualifications than just that and competed against a large pool of candidates. So, I don't understand what your point is. No one gave her anything apart from a chance to show her abilities. That chance is something that was often denied to women in the past or heavily discouraged.

Yes, we should be realistic. There are more options than "6-pack abs" and "'whale".

There's more women in education than men now. Think about that shit for a second. The system has been set up against you, pull yourself up by the bootstraps. I don't get this. There are more women than men to begin with and the rough distribution in society is the same as in most universities. Are you saying women get in easier now than they did before? Or are you saying something else? You seem to be implying something which I cannot immediately identify.

In such situations I like asking everyone a yes or no question and then tallying those up and deciding. People either agree and move on or object strongly enough and a decision is still reached.

That's why at TRP, we don't just speak in generalizations, but we often keep the discourse both extreme and offensive, so that the subreddit is simply too "toxic" to infiltrate. It's a defensive strategy. I recently stumbled upon TRP and I am still trying to fully figure it out. I think you are putting in words something I've been sensing may be at play here. My own problem with some of the "extreme and offensive" is that I can't always distinguish between when it's used as a defense against cer…

He's seeking outside opinions because important, loved, and respected by him people turned on him. He's likely trying to get a frame on things and figure out why there's such discrepancy between his ideas and others (sleeping with celebrity...).

Yes, reluctant people are less happy. No surprise there for sure. OP, I really dislike how you cherry-picked data about a phenomenon which is rather complex to fit it with a rather narrow narrative. Working mother survey where the info is taken from and which is quoted by the article. The survey does indeed point to the tendency of women to be in the role of secondary breadwinners and/or housewives. It also shows that society's view on gender roles is playing a large role in keeping that tendenc…

Somewhat anecdotal, but a lot of movies and stories portray the constantly working dads as having regrets later in life about not spending more time with their family.

First, let's dispense with your attempt to say that since I interpret his statement as "X implies A and B"', then I must believe that "X implies A and B". OP gives an example of how "fame and status make women go nuts". That's fine. It's true for many women. Then he says that "the guys wanna smash cause she's hot, fame doesn't factor in.". That's also fine, it's true for many men. My point is that both "fame" and "hot" are often seen as status symbols and/or as signs of good genes ( simply put )…

What is he saying then? How is this statement not a judgement call? But the guys wanna smash cause she's hot, fame doesn't factor in. I's seems to imply that wanting to bang someone for their looks is OK, while for fame isn't. Or that men never want to bang a chick because of her fame only because of her looks. My point is that both can be seen as status symbols and not simply a biological attraction. As status symbols both are equal.

You may be going a little too far with point 3. We are conditioned to do "the right thing" by rewards from birth because developing the tendency to do the right thing without rewards naturally doesn't really happen in general. In fact, "the right thing" may never be anything more to some than too high a punishment otherwise. In principle the right thing should not require a reward if you have it as part of your morality and ethics. People by whom you've done the right thing are not required to b…

Both of these are status symbols. They are just different status symbols. Are you saying that guys going crazy over hot chicks is somehow better than girls going crazy over famous guys? And if so, can you explain why? Not to mention the even more high status "achievement" of famous hot chick/guy.

Is the (relative) decrease to sexual attraction such an important issue for you? It seems that a large portion of the game is so that you can get something you want out of life, i.e. maximize happiness. Most of the couples seem to have plenty of happiness going for both partners. True, they haven't achieved the best possible deal, because their sex lives are not at their "optimum" but do you think that if the couples had really great sex but a very different power dynamic outside of the bedroom …

most men are introspective enough to be honest with themselves women will never admit that they think even LESS rationally You are making some very broad generalizations. Introspection and understanding oneself aren't things that come easily to a lot of people, male and female.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
