Rape is a about power, violence, and dehumanizing a victim. It has absolutely nothing to do with sexuality.

I know, it is used in face creams and cosmetic products. So sad...

I agree with you completely that it shouldn't be our choice. I told my husband that if our son wants to be circumcised like his father, he can have it done when he is old enough to understand that choice. I think it is much more painful and traumatizing for an infant, and it is absolutely wrong to force it on an innocent and helpless baby. I am just trying to understand it from their religious perspective out of respect for my husband's family.

I'm just trying to understand and explain his counterpoint.

Wow, thank you for all of this information!

My husband is not an idiot. I should have been more descriptive with how I worded this post. It is more about the traditional aspect to him than looking the same, the legacy of his father and all the fathers before all being circumcised. This is been part of his culture and it is hard for him to imagine his son differently. He is extremely open minded and would have never married me (a non Jew) if he cared about religion more than reason. He is not even religious, this just what he always knew, …

I think it's more of a legacy thing also, his father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and beyond were all circumcised.

Sorry, I'm a new subscriber to men's rights. And, agreed.

I actually asked him that question, if I had FMG done to me would he want that for our daughter. We have a daughter, so his obvious and immediate response was that he would never want that. He argued that the practices are different because men have "extra" skin, that FMG oppresses women sexually, and in Judaism it's just a right of passage. To me, any form of genital cutting is genital mutilation.

Is circumcision really an obvious question? There are a lot of different informed opinions being discussed in this post.

I agree with you. I don't think religion changes the argument, but people can be very defensive and entitled when it comes to their religious beliefs.

A newborn's genitals tend to be engorged at birth, making the whole area extra sensitive.

This is where I have a problem. It is actually quite painful, think about how sensitive your penis is. It's unnecessary stress for a newborn baby to experience that much pain. A midwife once told me that it is more painful than a lumbar puncture. Not to mention, it can be fatal, but you don't hear a lot about infant fatality due to circumcision because the cause of death is unspecific (ie, "hemorrhaging" or "infection").

Yeah, I know what you mean. As a teenager, he felt cheated because he was denied a choice, and the supposed increased sensitivity of an uncircumcised penis. But I guess he got over it and is now just hung up on (pun intended) having son look like dad.

Thank you for your opinion. I think it is barbaric as well. It's not that they lived in a nudist colony, but my father-in-law was definitely naked around his three sons when they were children, in a liberal European sort of way. That said, being the same as dad isn't the only reason. He also feels it is better hygienically, and he's Jewish. I'm not Jewish, but my sister-in-law is, and she is also anti-circumcision. There is a brit shalom ceremony (which excludes the cutting) which she would opt …

This happened to my husband, he was sexually assaulted by a woman on the subway right in front of me. I was sitting and he was standing above me. The train was really crowded, and he was leaning over slightly to speak to me when this woman literally shoved his butt for being too close to her. I didn't notice at first, but when he told me I loudly asked her to keep her fucking hands to herself. She and her friend laughed it off trying to be friendly, "relax hunny, we aren't trying to hit on your …
