It's a small consolation for the OP that "my wife said he was a bad guy" isn't an useful legal defense for these dicks. With any luck these 2 guys made their wives pay for their mistake. In your situation, at the very least I'd have practically demanded that the cop to arrest the two men for assault, the woman who took the kid for attempted kidnapping, and everyone damn one of them for conspiracy to commit kidnapping and defamation of character. Had it been me, it might have been a lot worse. I'm not quite as big as you, and have no special training... so I'm armed a fair amount of the time.
