Well, we can't go talking what ifs, we need to look at what is. Saying awful things to him like that are indicative that she is quite cruel; it doesn't seem like he did anything to deserve that treatment. As he said, it came out of nowhere and she just started being horrible to him. That, to me, seems like someone who lacks empathy, and therefore should not be in charge of children.

From what I understand about it, men's premiums are higher because they cost the insurance companies more overall. That's not to say they are better or worse drivers. I agree absolutely, but I like to think this is a problem with the law and not the culture, in the sense that, I don't think there are hardcore pro-gun people anywhere advocating that the mentally ill should have access to firearms (I'm sure there are some, but I think they're in the minority). Problem with the "culture" I guess it's anything that comes under the guise of "gun control" is opposed categorically by the gun lobbies in America, even if sensible pro gun people might welcome it.

That's a whole other statistic. The point was does the UK gun culture make the country safer, not does it reduce gun deaths. The latter is obvious, there are way more guns in the us so naturally it follows that more people will die from them. There are more swimming pools too, so likely more people will drown. Computer Science degrees are often quite removed from a job in programming. They overlap in knowledge needed, but they are not the same. I've been in the field for ~5 years now. More often than not, my colleagues do not have a CS BSc (or any degree at all). I did a BSc in CS, but use very little of what I learned in my current job. Some good practices and patterns (and avoiding antipatterns) but the meat of what I do (actual coding) was learned on the job, not in school.

As I understand them, affirmative action laws are to do with quotas; you need a certain number of each minority in order to be diverse enough. Hiring should be entirely blind to gender, race, etc. so that you are hired based on your merit, not how you were born. If this means you end up with a workforce that is entirely female, then fine, but that would then be incidental and not by design.

I don't think there is anything sinister or malicious with MGTOW. I only just learned about it myself and it seems fair to me. It's not a lifestyle choice I would choose (I have a partner who I love with all my heart) but I don't see anything wrong with it. Society puts a lot of pressure on men (and certainly also on women) to conform to the "partner up and have kids" lifestyle, which many people aren't really comfortable doing at this point.

Yeah but the difference there is that religion is given as a reason. Many, many people in the US do it "just because". I agree, being strict about who gets to keep firearms is important. This aspect is actually even stricter here in the UK. What I don't agree with is Norway's ban on "militaristic" rifles. As if the fact that it's black or "tactical" makes it more dangerous. Mini-14s are legal, they basically do all the same shit that an AR does. You're welcome, and I am definitely not trying to put you off moving there if you want to. I live in the UK, which is kind of a middle ground between the US and Norway (I have lived in the US also). I enjoy nationalised healthcare (for this reason I would not move to the US again), and there are other benefits that come from the "social democracy" style of government.
