I'm helping friends write applications at the moment, and I disagree that Jennifer's the bad one. Doesn't mean there isn't gender discrepancies, but I thought I'd drop two pieces of advice. The two applications aren't extremely similar, and I disagree as to which one is better. Either way, I really wish you the best in getting a job. First off: "Show, don't tell". You are telling them that you're interested, hidden inside a long sentence, and with a few follow up caveats, while Jennifer shows sh…

I know, and some of it is disputed by non-feminists. So in many cases it can be disputed that feminists work is for equality, but regardless of whole perspective we observe from, we can all agree that feminists work to improve on women's conditions.

Remember that perspective is important here. If a feminist believes that men hold all privileges, then his fight for equality will be a pure fight for more privileges to women. To a person who thinks the genders are more equal, at least in the aspects the feminist works to improve, the feminist's struggle looks like a battle to enrich an already privileged gender, a struggle against equality.

Yeah, if people would stop getting blackout drunk together that would be great for rape stats. I don't see that happening anytime soon, though, and would much rather people talk about consent and prevention along with how to be careful. Your careless drunk victim story is not very typical for rape scenarios btw.

Catcalling is a pretty complex issue. But say it's gendered, prevalent in groups as you say and lead to a traumatic experience every time. How would you enlighten members of those groups to effectively change behaviour?

I'm a scandinavian man, and I don't feel any steps toward making my life miserable. This guy is free to press charges, and the police generally puts women in prison for false rape accusations when there's good reason to. We have pussy passing here as well, but seeing as this article is a point made by a woman, in our most revered newspaper, criticising a pussy pass endorsing article from a niche paper, I'd say there's really not any mainstream man hate here, although specific police officers adh…

In Norway, someone does indeed need to press the charges, but sometimes the police do it, although they will usually do that only after an investigation. They're known to be pressing charges for false rape accusations whenever investigations yield divergent and/or contradictory results, so as an institution I don't judge them for pussy passing. In this case there seems to be no investigation, though, only a fine at the spot, and there will be no investigation unless the guy presses charges.

I was sad to hear the bus marshal didn't press charges. Maybe she could have learned something. It was sad to see that none of the witnesses tried to detain her, but I know effective detainment is illegal if it's not in direct self defense in a lot of places (certainly is here in Norway).

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
