Definitely I’d want any advice for men to be character building so they can be HV (go to therapy, volunteer, be genuinely kind, help and stick up for others, groom yourself, unlearn entitlement, etc.). Those articles you’re describing are about tips and tricks to hide their true nature to get dates; not putting in the hard work to be a better person in general

Yeah nvm 1) try to prove that they’re not the problem by finding someone else who accepts them and proceeding to 2) regret being stuck with someone they don’t like and 3) punish her in your place and for his general unhappiness. It’s pathetic. Don’t be so entitled and go to therapy, bro.

Even if everything was platonic, men are just meh friends. Every amazing birthday I ever had was thrown by close girl friends; dudes at best chip in for a gift or bring a gift card. Women friends are the people I can confide in and relate to and they with me. Going deep with a dude is still superficial and usually after the fact. I feel like my friendships with women are very intimate and life giving. Guy friends are kinda just there. They show up but that’s it IME

FDS generally doesn’t approve of being a SAHM because of the financial compromise but at least they’re a little protected legally. A stay at home gf doesn’t even have that. So no.

In the gift of fear (an FDS favorite) Gavin debecker says that dogs sense when you’re tense and will react to people like your ex. It’s not that pets can tell when people are nv it’s that they are picking up on the negative emotions you’re feeling and that women are conditioned to ignore. So yes trust your pets and your gut!

You’re right! The illusion is more about humans being lousy at predicting their feelings. (My bad for not being super clear). It still helps me because it’s a weird brain trap

A couple things help me: 1) singleness is a gift. It really is especially for women contrary to popular belief. The peace and freedom are delicious. 2) this is destination illusion. “I’ll be happy if I have/accomplish __” doesn’t work. If you can’t accept and love yourself as you are now you never will be. 3) I’ve heard it said a lot of times: single people want to be married and married people want to be single. How sad is that? I’d much rather be in the first camp tbh

Intuitive eating, checking in with your body, learning what you actually like and letting yourself have it, and unlearning all the shoulds, mindless bad coping habits, and social conditioning around food is TOTALLY in line with FDS.

Ahh desperate housewives my old guilty pleasure It’s cuz he doesn’t sleep around like the other husbands (excluding mike) he just had a secret family for years and but then divorced Lynette when she had a mutual crush on an employee who appreciated her that she never acted on. Homer Simpson and all of the other bumbling dads aren’t really sold as dreamboats but it still feels like women are brainwashed to accept these guys. “Yeah he’s lazy, mean, and selfish (so relatable!) but it’s ok cuz things work out at the end of the episode” propaganda

I really wish retirement and finances were taught in high schools before you even enter the work force. I learned about all this in my late twenties and felt like I missed out on so much compound interest. Thankfully I live well within my means and have been able to level up and CATCH up. Now I see the SAHM route is risky af. You may never be able to retire if anything goes sideways.

I’m 5’9” and East asian. You get called gross by insecure short guys at worst or kinda not even register as a woman the rest of the time. Honestly, I just laugh. It’s not my problem, so it’s not gonna ruin my day/life. What I really don’t get is if they obviously know you’re tall but still take issue about it (like your date). Also I think small women in their minds are just easier to push around or infantilize. No thanks!

My fav verse is the one where Jesus tells men to pluck out their own eyes to avoid lust instead of telling women to cover up. Tbh I think God/Jesus have a heart for women but men have been extremely shitty and contorting scripture to fit their preconceived faulty, evil beliefs.

This guy was the dating coach for Lori Gottlieb, the author of “Marry him: the case for settling for mr. good enough”. It’s an... interesting (in a horrible way) read but the bottom line is “guys aren’t perfect princes but he could still make you happy. If some meet your core requirements (like good character) but aren’t the right height/weight/bald/weird idiosyncrasies/etc, maybe give them a chance cuz you’re not perfect either”. I understand what they’re trying to say but I think it’s a messag…

It’s not really about who’s innately better at what. The author describes a dynamic where the feminine person in the relationship should respect the choices of the masculine person, who cherishes feminine person(‘s feelings) and takes them into account. If the feminine person doesn’t feel good about a decision, s/he can veto. Again, I have doubts about this.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy01/10/20 09:54 PM

I agree that “male energy” sounds very oppressive/aggressive and “female energy” sounds weak. But she defines it more like masculine energy is giving, pursuing, and protecting while feminine energy is fun and receiving gladly and thankfully. I think that society has trained women to be overly giving and desperate and men have become really passive and exploitative (instead of generous). So her viewpoint was kind of refreshing imo
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy01/10/20 09:07 PM

She goes into thinking vs feeling dichotomy very seriously so take it with a grain of salt. That and some rule about taking a man back after a breakup within a 8 week window to give him time to sort through thoughts and feelings gave me pause. Otherwise it was worth reading.

It’s on the FDS booklist so I gave it a try. Tbh I never heard of these terms before either and it rubbed me the wrong way initially. It’s pretty much women letting men be providers and taking initiative in the relationship. Women can be gracious receivers and return any favors but only to a smaller degree.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy01/10/20 08:57 PM

Have you read “getting to I do”? Pat allen says women can have male energy at work but female receiving energy off work. She also gave some pointers if you’re dating someone at work lol

From Attached: Quite soon into the relationship you start to get mixed signals. I just finished reading Attached by Amir Levine. All of what he wrote is in line with FDS. HVM/HVW are SECURE and have happy, healthy relationships were the individuals are treated like “royalty” and “inner circle” (literally his words, not mine). Being treated like a queen/king and being consulted first is actually not hard or rare with these individuals and shouldn’t be seen as unrealistic.

Seriously, you were smart to shut that down. Give a man an inch, he’ll take a mile.

The last two sentences are opposite??? Also he lowkey sounds like a sociopath. You can really feel the avoidance in his words. Men that only want “calm”/chill women are basically looking for doormats/low-effort fwb types.

Even if the price was an issue (diamonds ARE super inflated and that could be down payment money) a Walmart ring is just thoughtless and lazy. There are plenty of beautiful alternative/recycled/handmade/lab rings that are unique and creative and most importantly the woman LOVES to wear that are STILL way cheaper than an Xbox.

There was a reddit post about how a man stalked his wife for months then caused a car accident in order to “meet” her, set her up in multiple fake bad relationships, so he could he comfort/trap her. It was crazy. So yeah sounds totally possible.

Sometimes I do get sad thinking “man I wish I were married by now” (I just turned 30) but then immediately go “well I’d rather be single than married to the wrong guy who’s destroying my credit and emotional landscape”

Usually women aren’t even teases, so men get their hopes up. It’s that they don’t listen to no and interpret letting them down easy/politeness (which women are conditioned to do) as a chance.

The audacity and judgment in that “damn”. He really thinks he can criticize her attitude because he’s so entitled to her labor. This lady needs appreciation wtf

Holy shit. I never thought about this but it’s true. They are totally complicit in gaslighting everyone into thinking the husband is a good person. These predators have no consequences at home or the world because pick mes are so desperate.

he's blaming women for the wars and power structures that men create... for not wanting to date abusers/losers. he's really fixated on the "high value/level" idea, but he's equating ambition/being paid as being a dominating alpha imperialist (typical patriarchy macho shit). it's the opposite on FDS; HVM respect boundaries (not imperialist), are generous (not capitalist) and responsible. also claiming that women "have power over society" is just untrue and makes it sound like men are totally inno…

Same. There’s a lot of self-hate going on. Like dude this is a profile, a chance to sell yourself, you can talk about anything you want but you’re mentioning random things you can’t do and don’t have and bringing up stereotypes that you do and don’t conform to why? I do have a preference for asian guys but so many think that people don’t like them because they’re seen as emasculated/short/ugly (which is a valid form of racism in media) but usually they’re just lazy, unaware douchelords that woul…

Or get mad that women want to read about them and force men to take “a really long time to write a profile” which MIGHT be lies anyway??? He would be mad with the flip side and if women were totally shallow and only went for pics too.

Fr kids should know what happened so that 1) they don’t think marriages randomly fall apart or 2) think cheating is acceptable normal behavior to do or tolerate instead of the straight disrespect/abuse it is.

the things that stood out to me: 1) the sheer volume of things he can say about himself 2) when prompted about the potential date, it was ONE thing and how he wanted her to behave/make him feel. 3) who tf still talks about the SAT in their thirties if they didn't peak super hard in high school?

I remember she was 19 when they started dating (i forget how old he was, but it was way older so red flag right there) then would proceed to refer her "the 19-year-old" with his friends.

Men have problem speaking about their issues because other men shame them for having feelings. Toxic masculinity hurts everyone. She just sounds like she has been conditioned to prioritize men’s feelings over everything else.
