How Misandry and Misogyny inform Trans Misandry and Trans MisogynyYeah sure! https://www.reddit.com/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates/s/0xRe3o4l94 | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 02/09/24 07:33 PM
How Misandry and Misogyny inform Trans Misandry and Trans MisogynyI made a post that was similar to this a while back - I'm glad I'm not the only one who has noticed how similar misandry and transmisogyny are, as well as misogyny and transmisandry. I think you worded your thoughts really well and I agree with everything you said. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 02/09/24 03:59 PM
How Misandry and Misogyny inform Trans Misandry and Trans MisogynyWhile I agree with most of what you've said here, it's worth bearing in mind there are some specific forms of prejudice that trans women face that no other groups do. For example, trans women are expected by most people to dress or act more feminine than cis women as a way of proving their womanhood. Cis men don't experience this discrimination, so I think calling it transmisogyny makes sense. Otherwise though I completely agree! (but I'm also not trans) | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 02/09/24 03:55 PM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general? The thing with Arty Morty was when Reduxx shared an tweet saying that it was funny/deserved that a gay man had got AIDS because he was overly effeminate (think Sodom and Gomorrah was referenced). Arty Morty and another gay guy (Clive something?) called it out saying that it was just homophobia. He got bombarded by GCs calling him misogynistic and telling him to shut up, pretty much unanimously supporting Reduxx, telling him that if he thinks that's bad he should see what it's like being a woman,… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 14/08/24 10:40 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?Everyone should get medication that they need, and people who are at a higher risk of suicide should receive whatever support is recommended for them. I don't see how that's controversial. Trans people aren't using threats of suicide to "get their way", they're saying that being prevented from living the way they want to increases their rates of depression and that can lead to suicide. It's their choice to transition in the same way that it's my choice to be with my partner when we both happen t… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 11/08/24 03:04 PM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?I've listened to Arty Morty talk about trans people before and I don't understand his position. He is constantly bombarded by hate from TERFs and yet he chooses to side with them? I watched his video where he said that any gay man watching it would be convinced to side with TERFs and his arguments were terrible. I can see how gay men would be frustrated with the modern trans movement, particularly Twitter activists, but to suggest that we should side with people that bully and harass us is nonse… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 11/08/24 02:59 PM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?I'm saying what my experience is and what I've seen other people say. I'm not saying that I know for a fact that more trans people have been fired than transphobic people, just that I've seen more trans people talk about it. Presumably you've seen more the other way. Saying that nobody is opposed to trans rights is crazy. You think out of all people that exist, there's nobody in the world who thinks that trans people don't deserve basic human rights? Again, a lot of them will cross over with peo… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 11/08/24 02:56 PM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?I've seen lots of trans people talk about having lost their jobs because they're trans. I've seen some "accused transphobes" lose their jobs, but it often seems to be more complex than however the media reports it, i.e. the person will have said something anti-trans AND broken safeguarding policies. I've not seen many (if any) circumstances where someone has been fired simply for being opposed to trans rights, but feel free to share stories if you've got them. Also I absolutely agree that gay me… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 10/08/24 10:07 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general? The thing that I worry about is where do you draw the line. What if somebody says "I think Hitler was right"? In the UK I'm pretty sure that you can be fired for saying that. There are some things that do cause harm to say even if it's just "I think...", which is why I think certain thoughts should be contained to discussions. If someone feels as though they have to express their opinion that LGBT people are dangerous to an LGBT person then we need to make sure we're protecting the LGBT person f… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 20/07/24 01:29 PM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?I'm really sorry that you went through that, that's awful. I hope you're doing better now but if not you can feel free to talk about it here if that would help. Reading a comic about someone's situation of experiencing sexual harassment and then being completely dismissed by a helpline was one of the things that drew me to this sub (even though the story turned out to be fake). I hate the idea of people going through that and being alone. I think it's ridiculous for people to say that certain de… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 20/07/24 10:46 AM

What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general? That's such an interesting study! Do you happen to have a link for it? Don't worry about finding it if not though. It's interesting to compare that to trans people as well, in that trans people tend to have mental health problems such as depression, and that's probably because social acceptance of trans people is still similarly bad to what it was like for gay people. If society was more accepting they'd probably have a much easier time. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 20/07/24 10:36 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general? That's fair, I do appreciate having a space open to discussion. That said though, I think "free speech warriors" are pretty problematic. A lot of them don't care for free speech and just want to say what they want without listening to anyone else. If someone's freedom of speech means saying something like "I think LGBT people are a danger to children", I don't think that's okay unless it's on a forum dedicated to discussing that topic or something similar. If they're saying it because they want … | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 19/07/24 05:17 PM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general? It's alright I guess. I don't really use Reddit much so this is pretty much my first experience of talking a lot in a subreddit and not just being a lurker. I'd been thinking a lot about how I've struggled with instances of misandry in my life and I didn't really know how to articulate that, but full on MRA types seem pretty extreme and misogynistic. It's been reassuring to find a subreddit that seems to focus on pushing for better rights for men without that being at the expense of women. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 19/07/24 04:18 PM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?Saw the Pizzacake comics that attempted to talk about how misogyny feels for women, but ended up coming across as very unsympathetic to men's experiences. Then I saw the follow up comic from someone who talked about being sexually assaulted by multiple women and then ignored or treated as the aggressor when he tried to seek help for what had happened. I really sympathised with the person who wrote the comic, especially as he was gay. I wanted to see what his views were on other matters, just to … | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 07:43 PM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general? It's been interesting getting other people's perspectives on this because my impression was that most feminists had not made much effort to distinguish themselves from TERFs. In the UK TERFs are very eager to call themselves feminists at pretty much every opportunity, and receive very little backlash for doing so. I was also under the impression that most people are accepting of transphobia, or at least are happy to let it slide (again in the UK). | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 02:33 PM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?Trans men definitely face transphobia as well. TERFs treat them as confused women who have been tricked into transitioning to escape misogyny, and a lot of gay men think that gay trans men are trying to invade their spaces, or are trying to pressure gay men into dating them. But like you say, transphobia towards trans women appears to be much more of a focus in TERF circles and in the media in general. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 11:22 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general? That was really interesting to read, especially how transphobic radicalisation leads to the algorithm sharing content that is discriminatory towards other groups too. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 10:13 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?I was under the impression that trans women didn't want to be forced to use men's rooms because it's humiliating. It also means they're more likely to be harassed/questioned as they look like they don't belong in the men's room. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 09:59 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general? The only people I see using these terms are TERFs saying that this is how trans people talk. I've never seen a trans person refer to anyone as "prostate owner". Usually when talking about issues that affect people who, as an example, have a prostate, people just say "cis men and trans women". Maybe I've missed times when trans people have used these terms, but I certainly don't think it's common practice. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 09:55 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general? My mum has been a radical feminist all her life and is now a TERF. She fought for women's rights but she is certainly guilty of being a misandrist as well, and I think that's part of why she's latched onto TERF rhetoric. The impression that I've got from reading people's responses is that almost all feminists in the US have rejected TERFs, whereas in the UK most media representation of feminism comes from TERFs, so a good portion of feminists have become TERFs here. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 09:44 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?Agreed, movements should have to acknowledge their problematic sides. I think this should include gay/trans rights movements as well as feminism, although I do think even the most problematic LGBT+ people are less problematic than TERFs. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 09:35 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general? You put this a lot better than I could have done. I agree with everything you've said here, I didn't really talk about the misogyny that comes from TERFs but I definitely think it's worth discussing as well. No one who actually cares about women should be aligned with them. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 09:28 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general? Thanks for writing such a detailed reply, it was really interesting to read! I don't feel like I know enough about the history of feminism to give a detailed response, so I'll just take your word for it. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 09:25 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general? Thanks! I feel like I've just ended up rambling so I'm glad it comes across as eloquent haha | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 09:19 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?Agreed that hate is not the way to move forwards, but I think there's a big difference between TERFs hating trans women because they view them all as predators and trans women hating TERFs because TERFs consistently harass them online and in public life. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 09:12 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?I think to say that a lot of the left are intolerant is an exaggeration. There are definitely some that are, but they are a minority whose voices get amplified by the internet. The vast majority of trans people just want to live their lives without fear and harassment. Yes JK Rowling has received death threats, but so have actors who played villains in TV shows - some people are just nuts and will send death threats to anyone, but if one of them happens to be trans that doesn't mean they're repr… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 09:04 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?I mean, a lot of people see "sex" as what your chromosomes are, and chromosomes aren't binary (but obviously "sex" is more complicated than that). I've seen trans rights advocates bring up intersex people when TERFs discuss the binary nature of sex, but I think this is done to prove moreso that "sex" doesn't always fit into the neat boxes that TERFs want it to, rather than suggesting intersex people aren't real men or women, or should be viewed as somewhere between male and female. Obviously tha… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 08:56 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?Yeah I've been pleasantly surprised at the general support for trans people on here so far. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 08:41 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general? This is something I've noticed with gay people as well. I think some people like to dish out the kind of hate that they've experienced, even though that just continues the cycle. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 08:40 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?Social media algorithms definitely feed people's anger and lead them into having more extreme beliefs than they should. It doesn't help as well that places like Twitter/X create an echo chamber where you end up surrounded by people that agree with you, reinforcing any problematic views someone might have. I'm guessing Reddit is the same but I don't use it as much. Step 3 is really interesting because I had someone at my workplace say to me that men are bad but I'm an exception, and my response w… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 08:36 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?I've seen a few trans people, mainly men saying that they'd rather be seen as cis than trans, which makes sense. I feel really sorry for anyone having to go through a puberty they don't want, I don't understand how people in general don't have more sympathy for children who experience gender dysphoria. They've banned puberty blockers in the UK now as well, so I think the only option for young people here is HRT, but it takes too long to get an appointment for most people to get access to it befo… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 08:24 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?Really bizarre to hate a trans man for any of those reasons, but particularly being queer/poc. I've noticed a lot of gay cis men will only accept straight trans men and seem to think that gay trans men are just trying to invade their spaces/ get into their pants. It's stupid because this is exactly how gay cis men were treated by a lot of straight cis men for years and they can't see that it's the same. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 08:18 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?Okay I get what you mean. I'm pro-trans on basically every issue that trans people face, but I think a lot of situations require more nuance than just saying that. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 08:13 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?I disagree with you on a lot of this stuff, but it's your choice and I appreciate you sharing it. I'm glad that we can agree on being respectful because that's what matters most. I'd probably be here a while if I replied to everything you said so I'll just pick out a few things: - I think a lot of trans people are advocating for better access to healthcare, but this doesn't get much attention outside of the trans community because it's not as controversial as other topics within trans rights - M… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 08:09 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?Don't think it's worth getting angry at trans women for this. Everyone that needs to access DV shelters should be able to do so, and generally trans women seem pretty supportive of this idea. Not sure if you're just talking about this as a hypothetical scenario, but if you have needed access to a shelter then I hope you were able to find one. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 07:47 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?Completely agree with your second point. I don't have much of an opinion on sport, and I think prisons should be case-by-case with the aim to keep people safe. I used to be against puberty blockers, but I changed my mind on it when I read more about them. Almost all of the side effects that people talk about were discovered because of PBs being prescribed to children undergoing precocious puberty. In the UK, PBs just got banned for children experiencing gender dysphoria, but not for children und… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 07:42 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?Okay yeah I definitely overlooked the fact that a lot of TERFs are lesbians, to an extent that the ratio is probably higher than in the general population like you say. It's really frustrating, as a gay person I don't understand how someone could see what's happening to trans people and not be sympathetic when a lot of it is recycled homophobia. I'm not sure if radical feminists feel like they've "won the battle" so much as they just decided to move onto an easier target, and picked trans women … | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 07:29 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?Yeah I can understand why it makes your girlfriend uncomfortable. Do you think there's a different way to talk about the discrimination that trans women share with men that would be less demeaning? You're definitely right that the majority of the movement now is people LARPing as feminists who just hate trans people. I tend to focus on the other part because that was what it was like when the movement first started. | 1 | What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?Sorry that you had a negative experience of trans people/ queer people in general. You shouldn't be made to feel bad for being straight. I've always found it frustrating to see the way that LGBT+ people talk about "the straights" because my experience with straight men especially is that they were all amazing to me when I came out as gay. I get that that's not everyone's experience, but having a bad experience involving a straight person doesn't mean all straight people are bad, and it's unfair … | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 07:01 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?Ah okay. I'm not sure why you're getting downvoted either, I agree with pretty much everything you've said here. The only thing I would disagree with is the idea that JK Rowling is a feminist. I know she refers to herself as such, and she is basically the de facto leader of TERFs, but she never does anything except share negative tweets about trans people. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 06:38 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general? As you've said, "arrogant" trans people being a loud minority is something that applies to gay people as well, but for some reason people seem to mainly focus on trans people that are like this now. I think some people are looking for an excuse to get annoyed by trans people, so they seek out the annoying ones to amplify what they've said and complain about it (at least, this is how it seems to work on Twitter/X). I'm a gay guy and I was very feminine when I was younger. It took me a while to re… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 18/07/24 06:30 AM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?I don't understand why I have to agree with a specific person. I'm not sure what you mean by the "trans issue" anyway - trans people exist, and if anyone has a problem with that then they're the ones that have an issue. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/07/24 10:27 PM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general? Not sure why you're getting downvoted for this. You're right that I overlooked all the times that TERFs have teamed up with transphobic cis men to harass trans women. It's especially noticeable now whenever JK Rowling tweets anything negative about trans people, her replies are filled with men who just want another minority to harass/ poke fun at. I would say though that some TERFs really do just hate men and won't side with them regardless. Women encouraging men to protect them against minority… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/07/24 10:15 PM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?I agree with what you're saying. What I would add is that I think the reason TERFs focus on trans women rather than men is because they're easy targets for misandry, since there are much fewer trans women than men, so trans women don't have as much of a voice to fight back. The thing about keeping trans women out of women's spaces because they're "predatory males" doesn't make any sense unless they apply it to gay men as well, because we must also be "predatory males" and we share spaces with ot… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/07/24 09:24 PM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?Ohh I get you. Yeah I've definitely noticed that. It's both frustrating and baffling. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/07/24 09:10 PM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?Sorry that you had to go through all of that. It's crazy how resilient you've had to be from the sounds of things, you should be really proud of yourself for getting to where you are now. I know being gay isn't the same as being trans but this makes me feel grateful as a gay guy to be in a more accepting country, especially since my family didn't try to hurt me for being gay. It makes sense that everyone has to be stealth in Russia, and I'm guessing that won't change anytime soon. I'm glad that … | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/07/24 09:08 PM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general? It's so silly because people can experience discrimination for demographics they're not part of. Acknowledging that trans women experience misandry is not the same as saying trans women are men. It's like if somebody calls a straight man a f*g, that doesn't mean he's gay, but he still experienced homophobic abuse. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/07/24 07:58 PM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?I don't think LGBT+ people want to be above criticism, they just don't want to be criticised for being who they are (like you say). I've noticed as a gay person that the online LGBT+ community can be a bit clique-y, and they often end up harassing people who disagree with them online even if what that person said was pretty tame, but they don't represent the majority of LGBT+ people. I said in another comment that I think a lot of them are defensive because of how we've been treated until very r… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/07/24 07:48 PM

What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general? It's really silly to suggest that trans men can't experience transphobia. I've noticed that some feminist circles treat trans men as exceptions to men in general, like "oh you're okay because you're not like cis men", which comes across as really patronising and degrading because it's like suggesting that they're not real men. The reverse that you've experienced sounds similarly frustrating though. At least most people here seem to be accepting of trans men. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/07/24 07:20 PM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?Uh, trans people in general? I don't know, I don't think it's helpful to see someone as a spokesperson for trans people. I like to see what lots of different trans people think. I have more respect for trans people that don't seem like unkind people | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/07/24 07:07 PM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?Yeah exactly this. With prisons, it makes sense to decide where trans inmates are held on a case-by-case basis, which was how it worked in the UK until TERFs protested and the system was changed. Now all trans women are held in men's prisons, despite the fact that there's evidence that they are at greater risk there. I still don't understand, if TERFs were worried about "real women" but still cared about trans people, why didn't they campaign to have trans inmates held in separate facilities whe… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/07/24 06:39 PM

What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?I think people miss the fact that women are 50% of the population, which is how they have the power to oppress minorities. Women have historically oppressed black men, women have historically oppressed gay men, and now they're oppressing trans women using all the same arguments. Obviously there's transphobic men too but like I said in my post, TERFs seem to be the driving force of the current anti-trans movement in the UK. I said in another post that I do think transmisogyny is thing, but that w… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/07/24 06:31 PM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?Your mom sounds like a lot 😅 is she better with you since you came out? I've not heard about trans men becoming MRAs at all, but to be honest I've not heard much from the perspective of trans men in general, probably because I've not got any trans male friends and because anti-trans people mainly seem to focus on trans women. That's not what I would have expected though. I have seen trans people talk about how misogyny/misandry is validating and that sucks, it shouldn't have to be that way. | 1 | What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?Would you be able to expand on that? I'm not really sure what you mean sorry | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/07/24 05:44 PM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?I've purposefully avoided using the term "cis" because I didn't want to confuse people, but this is making me realise I probably should have used it and just given a definition 😅 Sorry to hear that you're from a homophobic country. I have a huge amount of respect for you that you're still trying to learn about and understand LGBT+ people despite the fact that it's illegal where you live. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/07/24 05:42 PM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?I get where you're coming from, but I don't think trans women would want to be included in conversations about periods or child birth anyway. On the other hand, it is often necessary for trans men to be included in those conversations, despite the fact that they aren't women. It's okay to recognise that different groups of women have different needs/experiences while still accepting trans women as women. | 18 | What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?I'm fairly new to this sub (came here after the whole Pizzacake debacle) so I'm guessing that's why I've not seen posts about it yet. It's a shame that it's not seen as something more worth talking about outside of this subreddit though. I have hope that the next generation of feminists/LGBT+ people will be more willing to engage with the idea that feminism = gender equality, which includes tackling misandry, but I guess we'll see. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/07/24 05:30 PM
Who put the RF in TERF? - An interesting video essay about radical feminism and gender-critical movementI guess it is good timing. I'll make an edit to my post and link your post in case anyone there is interested in watching the video. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/07/24 05:14 PM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general? What I don't understand is why more people don't see it like this. I've seen a lot of advocates for trans rights talk about transmisogyny, which I do think is an issue (ie. trans women being expected to adhere to stricter standards of femininity), but misandry plays a much bigger part in transphobia against trans women and it doesn't make sense to me why that doesn't get talked about. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/07/24 05:11 PM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?I find it really interesting that you think TERFs aren't treated kindly by the media. In the UK where I live, several TERFs are platformed in newspaper columns every day to share their disdain for trans people, along with regular interviews on radio shows and news channels. When they are platformed they are often referred to simply as "feminists". Feminists who are supportive of trans rights are almost never platformed by comparison. Also, it's fine for you to disagree with my view of feminism! … | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/07/24 05:09 PM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general? Thanks for sharing your perspective. I always thought it came across as offensive/patronising for some feminists to suggest that trans men aren't like other men when discussing male oppression against women - I'm sure that trans men are less likely to be misogynistic, but they're not exempt on the basis of being trans, and viewing them in that way feels very close to treating them as if they're not "real" men. If you don't mind me asking, how has your experience of sexism changed after you came … | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/07/24 04:53 PM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general?Completely agree, especially with your point about the perspective of trans people, which is something that I hadn't considered. It would make sense for most trans people to have a good sense of empathy after experiencing different forms of discrimination based on their perceived gender | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/07/24 04:47 PM
What are people's opinions on TERFs and trans rights in general? Thanks for your reply! My impression of mainstream feminist's reactions to TERFs was that they had chosen to mostly ignore them, and I assumed part of the reason for that was because TERFs repeat a lot of talking points that some problematic feminists use. That you've seen mainstream feminism reject TERFs is really encouraging in my opinion, as you can't accept trans people while also leaning into rhetoric that "people born male/female inherently behave a certain way". I definitely think that pr… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/07/24 04:05 PM
Who put the RF in TERF? - An interesting video essay about radical feminism and gender-critical movementJust made a post about TERFs, I didn't see your post until now so I hope it doesn't look like I was stealing your idea. I find this sort of stuff really interesting so I'll give the video a watch :) EDIT: That was a fascinating watch! Really interesting to see how people go from mainstream feminism to being radicalised by this stuff. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/07/24 02:56 PM
