Depends entirely on the tat for me. I disagree with everyone saying you don’t “make a building prettier by putting graffiti on it.” I think graffiti absolutely can make a building prettier, and cool art can look great on people too. An aesthetically pleasing or thought provoking tattoo can make me attracted to, or curious about, the person wearing it.

It might be worth remembering that while people have fond memories from those times, they have regrets too. Some people who party hard regret not taking their classes seriously, some people who are constantly in relationships regret not focusing on themselves. I had good times, did some partying in college, but I didn't do everything I wanted to and I would certainly change things given the chance. The key is to take the good with the bad -- look back on that time and acknowledge that it worked …

Well, realistically, even if those numbers are correct (where did they come from btw?), the process of erasing gendered expectation wouldn't happen instantly. It would have to be the intentional work of people convincing each other, and raising their kids with different ideas than they themselves grew up with. But again, I never see redpillers advocate for anything like this. I see some saying we need to revert to norms where men still have all the responsibility but they also have all the power…

I'm just gonna copy what I replied to another, similar, comment: I'm certainly limited by my own life experience, yes. So to address how that might lead to bias, I consider the conversations about gender and sex that I've had with older men that I know -- my father, grandfathers, uncles, male mentors. I wouldn't say all their gender politics are identical but absolutely no one has said anything close to a redpill belief, and instead they generally actively despise that worldview.

But what you implied was that experience would redpill me. But clearly it doesn’t work like that if there are men with lifetimes of experience who don’t believe redpill ideas.

Except if you treat a woman as an equal 8 out of 10 times you are immediately put in the not viable category. At least between the ages of say 16 to 30. ...Of course the man not paying is a deal breaker for vast majority of women. This hasn't been my experience at all. I know that doesn't mean it's untrue (because I can't reasonably universalize my own specific experience), but I'd be curious for a citation on that if I'm going to believe it's true. Also, men paying for dates and women expecting…

I'm not going down this rabbit hole any further. That's not a straw man. If you feel like explaining why I'm actually wrong feel free, but I'm done responding to shitty one-liners after this.

Are you serious? "You should judge your potential friends based on their traits as individuals rather than painting all women with a broad brush and not being friends with them because they're women." "Actually here are the reasons why it's fine and good that I make the call based only on them being a woman." ^Variations on this are happening all over the comments here. Obviously.

I believe you that you personally never said that male-female friendship is possible. But there are plenty of men on this sub who do say that, so I would say my point stands.

I partially agree. Entitlement can form based on gendered expectations, and this can happen in either direction. If you're raised to believe that you're going to get certain things just for being the gender you are, you'll feel entitled to them. To me a logical solution to this would be to decrease the social acceptability of gendered expectation, but when this idea is presented to redpillers, my experience is that they tend to respond by saying that's stupid because men and women are just diffe…

And who gives a shit if it’s “universal”. Sure. A woman in a coma isn’t going to divorce me and take all my money. But all women can do so. And almost all will do so. I think this is laughable, but I'll pretend I don't. Even if it were true, wouldn't it make more sense to put energy into telling manipulative women apart from non-manipulative ones than to put it into fitting all women into the same tiny definition? You’re just mad when the generalization applies to your group, and have zero probl…

When someone says "Nice Guy (TM)", I imagine someone who turns down the potential for real friendship because he thought it was going to lead to sex and feels robbed of something that was never actually promised to him. And because he was never actually interested in her outside her sex appeal anyway. I do think sometimes the term gets overused and loses clarity because of it, though. People have definitely been called Nice Guys who didn't fit what I wrote above.

Right, but let's let's look at some of those behavior differences. Let's say we're comparing cats and dogs in terms of aggression towards strangers. If we said that dogs are, on average, more aggressive towards strangers, when I meet a new dog, I'm going to evaluate its body language and get informed by the situation and other humans about whether it's aggressive. I'm not going to say, "It's a dog, so it's aggressive, so I'm basing my decision on that."

Well there are plenty of men disagreeing with it, so it's clearly not as obvious as you think.

Yeah, there's a fair amount of misplaced entitlement. I would partially blame emotionally damaging male socialization for this. Many men grow up learning that the world is only about domination and power, that it's futile to pursue compassion for its own sake. Those men sometimes feel robbed when something turns out to be "just friendship," because they've grown to believe either that true friendship is worthless or that sex is so all-important that anything short of it is a catastrophic loss.

Some yes, some no. I've had friendships where there was attraction on one side, both sides, and no sides.

Idk man, but if you went by gender instead of the actual attribute in question, you would have picked the weak man over the strong woman. And not every example is so blatant/clear-cut, but the principle holds for social situations too. Sorry if my opinions bothered you lol.

I don’t think the idea really is universalized in mainstream society. I think gender is still pretty hotly debated, at least on the national stage of my country (USA). But I definitely recognize that there’s a trend of men talking about having these experiences, and I have no problem with that. I have a problem when they say it’s 1) inevitable and true for every case (i.e. “you’re a simp and you just don’t know it if you have female friends") and 2) automatically down to essential biology. Those…

That is true. I tried to be specific in my post about exactly what I mean and who I’m talking about, but there’s always room for misinterpretation and people using different definitions for the same words.

But fixating on those differences doesn’t help either. For example, we might say that men are physically stronger than women. This is certainly true on average, and I don’t think any reasonable person would disagree. But in a situation where strength is relevant, I’m just gonna evaluate based on strength. If I need to team-lift something heavy and I’m in the room with a strong man and a weak woman, I’d rather lift with the man. If it’s a weak man and a strong woman, I’d rather lift with the woma…

But I’m not trying to say that my experience is universal at all. I’m saying that if the opposite experience were universal, no one would have had my experience at all. The fact that I had my experience is not evidence that my view is universal, but it is evidence that the opposite experience is not.

Oh no, I'm not neutral. I think redpill ideology is harmful. I guess that makes me a bluepill or whatever. But the post clearly says that I don't think my experiences are universal, and that instead my problem is with guys who do. "I had this experience with some women, so I know some women are [x]" is very different from "I had this experience, and that's why I know all women are [x]". In the latter you're claiming something that your experience can't possibly back up.

It's not so much that I wing relationships with women, more that I use different criteria than their gender to evaluate them. Of course, if there's an element of attraction, then gender could be relevant, but I find it infinitely more useful to look at people's behaviors, thought patterns, beliefs, etc. as individuals rather than deciding something preemptively based on gender.

I understand the general concept of using a generalization for practical purposes, and there's nothing wrong with it. But I have two problems with the application of this thinking to these kinds of social issues. 1 -- It's often framed in a very different way, with guys saying that there are biological reasons why women are [x]. Stating that it's inherent to the gender is very different than saying you act a certain way because of a trend. 2 -- I don't see why it would ever be useful to shut out…

I don't have a problem with men saying that they've experienced something other than what I have. I have a problem with men saying that friendship between men and women is impossible, when I have experienced that the opposite is true.

I mean in my friendships with women, we confide in each other about issues that we deal with in our lives, we hang out, keep each other updated on each other’s lives, help each other out when we need it, etc. For any interaction that has one person expending more effort than the other, I’ve been on both sides of it in my friendships with women. Is that shallow and transactional? I don’t think so.

But the saying isn’t “if everyone you meet from one group is an asshole, you’re actually an asshole and you can’t distinguish healthy groups from shitty ones.” The saying is “if everyone you meet,” overall, is an asshole, maybe it’s you. Of course that doesn’t directly prove anything, but comparing a specific group to the population at large isn’t really consistent

I’m using inductive reasoning to come to an inductive conclusion: “from observing many people with x view on PPD, I conclude that much of PPD has x view.” I wouldn’t say that I already know what a specific PPD poster believes without reading what they post. Contrast this with the reasoning I’m talking about in the post: inductive reasoning leading to a deductive conclusion: “because I have observed many women to behave like this, I know a categorical truth about all women.” The guys I’m talking …

The difference between my reasoning and the reasoning I’m talking about is that I’m observing a trend, not turning into a universal statement — if someone told me they post on PPD, I wouldn’t think “because many PPD posters have [x] outlook, I already know what your view is.” But the guys I’m talking about absolutely do apply that to women — “because I know women, I know what this woman is like before even having to get any information about her specifically.” I don’t think it’s a bad thing to n…

I think what you’re saying makes a lot of sense. Many RP men have internalized the idea that rejection was an existential threat to their identity. There’s a lot of cultural messaging that reinforces that men are only as valuable as they are able to sleep with women, but your more “natural” kind of guy, having at least some kind of friend/family support system and having been taught at least decent emotional maintenance skills, is able to handle rejection enough to learn what works with women by…

My problem with this thinking is that it treats all female desire as identical. It may be conventional wisdom that a broad, tall, muscular physique is attractive, and the majority of women may even conform to this. But for some women it’s a neutral quality and for others it’s an active turn-off. Ditto all other normatively masculine qualities. There definitely will always be some people “left on the dance floor,” but no one is predestined for that fate as so many redpillers seem to want to belie…

Let me fix that for you: “people consider multiple variables when evaluating potential sexual interests”. Yeah, anyone telling you that looks don’t matter at all is full of shit. So what? If I have one reason to stop talking to someone, and no reasons to keep talking to them, I’ll stop talking to them. But if I have one reason to keep talking to them, I might still do that.

Okay, so your logic in this post is "All guys who will date OF girls are simps," and you're defining "simp" as "someone who will date an OF girl." In other words, "Only the kind of guy who will date OF girls will date OF girls." That basically doesn't say anything.

I mean, sure, people will see her differently and some people won't date her. But that's true for basically everything. Any life choice you could possibly make will turn off at least some of your dating prospects.

Sure, some men will lose interest in a woman after finding out she's done OF. But that's also true of basically anything else. She's a vegan? Some men aren't interested. Likes death metal? Some men aren't interested. People have preferences in their partners. So what?

This is the same tired circular logic that we’ve heard a thousand times before. You’re identifying simps by whether they’re okay with a woman having sent nudes/done onlyfans, while in your words a “decent” man is not okay with that. For you to be proven wrong, a “decent man” would have to be okay with the nudes. But if he were, you’d just decide he was actually a simp the whole time. In other words, you haven’t made any argument. You’ve just told us that you respect people who aren’t okay with s…

You make a lot of assumptions and statements here that don't work. Just because you remember a happy, relaxed environment from childhood and you see more conflict in your adult life, doesn't mean the world has gotten meaner. Whatever strife and conflict was going on while you grew up didn't affect you nearly as much as current conflict affects you now, because you were a kid then and you're an adult now. That said, maybe the world is meaner, I don't know. But even if it is, you haven't really sa…

Not at all. My current relationship is about who I am and who my significant other is, not our pasts. My previous relationships definitely had an impact on who I am, but if anything, they were good for me. They pushed me to figure out clearly what I want out of a relationship and how to take care of it so that it succeeds.
