I was in Paris this fall after a hiatus of 12 years. I cannot how dirty the city has gotten in that time. Graffiti everywhere, grime, unfinished construction and protest. I would also recommend being careful if taking the subway. In London the tube is used by everyone to travel. It felt like in Paris most of the conversations in the Metro were not in French. Except most of what was going to NYC was technical skill and development workers between 100-150k a year. Besides the immediate tax revenue, NYC would have gotten the inevitable runoff of former Amazon tech people starting their own shops and hiring people.
