Great Advice On What Causes A Divorce(Without seeing the video) Third reason feels like a double-edged sword. I remember early on in my relationship I tried to be honest and vulnerable - that got thrown back in my face and she proceeded to move out without any warning. After all the grand gesture to get her to come back, I started walking on eggshells. Couples need to find the confidence to truthfully express how they truly feel, and not be judged for it. Surprisingly no mention of physical/emotional abuse as a reason for divorce. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/11/22 11:50 AM
For the men who initiated and filed for divorceIf it's any solace, you are not the only person who views their former relationship with rose tinted glasses. What you need to focus on right now is perhaps that happiness from within, and being content to be alone. It is easier said than done. You can try to numb it by meeting someone new but that may just be escaping from the situation. I'm in deep therapy to try and sort out "me" but I don't feel as if there is progress. Stay strong, you did so well in the first 12 months. Don't let your ex h… | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/11/22 10:50 AM
For the men who initiated and filed for divorceI had said something that upset her a few years ago. Without much notice she moved out and wanted a divorce. I tried, to the best of my abilities to take ownership and accountability for that. She eventually moved back and gave me a probation period, but in hindsight I realise now it was a form of gaining leverage and a license to be mean whenever she wanted. I started walking on eggshells ever since then. We became a sexless, sleeping in separate rooms couple. Few months ago I said/did somethin… | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/11/22 10:41 AM
For the men who initiated and filed for divorceI am sorry for what she put you through during the marriage. You still seem attached to the idea of the relationship you had with her and you question your actions because the grass may not be greener on the other side. But, at the same time (I remind myself this constantly because I'm in a similar situation) you listed the reasons you left first, for a reason. Would it be a bigger mistake to be married and deal with the de-valuation for another 18 months (if not longer)? | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/11/22 09:45 AM
Its hard to get back in the dating gameYou are putting yourself out there, you should be proud of that. As long as you communicate what you want, and manage expectations (ie it's only going to be casual) - you are acting with honesty and integrity. I don't even have photos on my phone where it's just me, that's not a selfie. I also don't have the mental strength to try and find photos. | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/11/22 09:17 AM
How to find supportI second this, there may be a meetup group for people going through separation/divorce as well which may be helpful for you OP. Other suggestions also included volunteering, giving you a sense of fulfillment as well. This subreddit understands what you are going through, a lot of us have been there. Don't be afraid to reach out and share your vulnerability. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/11/22 10:02 AM
Not sure what to do or how to feelI'm sorry it's come to this OP. I can appreciate how it feels to live with an insecure spouse. You are the breadwinner, and have consistently given your finances to your wife. I don't think it is fair and equitable that you have to pay to live in a place where you are probably currently paying for already. You are just as entitled (if not more so) to live there as her. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/09/22 10:26 AM
IsolationTry to form new bonds if you can OP. I'm sorry your ex convinced you to cut off friendships - that speaks more about their character than yours. Would you be able to re-establish those former friendships? And yes, even with a support network I still feel isolated. I am alone at my home suddenly with too much time on my hands. With no desire to take on activities I used to enjoy. But going through lots of articles books and videos to learn about myself and to heal. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/09/22 10:36 AM
Something I wrote to myselfI'm sorry for what you are going through. Please don't be so hard on yourself, and remember you deserve love and happiness just as much as everyone else. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/09/22 08:48 AM
