You got me. Edited. But still, dudes in this sub need to grow up sometimes

Hardly sounds like I said that. Stop being obsessed with what your exes are doing. Someone has to come on here and give actual advice and not just feed the whining

Why are you paying attention to what your ex is saying to her friends?
/r/Divorce_Men25/05/26 09:30 PM

Is this supposed to be comedy? There are plenty of fit attractive women out there. They just don’t want to be with big fat guys or dudes like the ones in the comments who talk about women like they are here. 😂😂😂 Grow up, guys! You want better, then do better
/r/Divorce_Men25/05/26 09:26 PM

So you were talking defensively about your ex in front of the kids? At least you admit that you were part of the problem and didn’t model respectful behavior. Like I said before, guys gotta stop using exes as excuses.
/r/Divorce_Men25/05/26 03:50 PM

How cute you make little insults on Reddit 😂. No wonder your new GF’s ex doesn’t like you. He senses the passive aggression and doesn’t want it around his kids. I don’t blame him.
/r/Divorce_Men25/05/26 03:45 PM

It’s not simplistic, professor. The abusive ex is the ex. Divorced men gotta grow up sometime and stop using their ex as an excuse for everything
/r/Divorce_Men25/05/26 02:31 PM

Were your kids raised to respect others and held accountable when they did not? If so follow your existing procedure. Do you model respectful behavior? Do you speak ill of their mother in front of them? Do you have time just with the kids or is it always with the girlfriend? If not dedicate time specifically with just them. Have a conversation with your new girlfriend about empathy because divorce is as impactful to the kids as it is to you. So understand that it takes time and it’s on their clo…

Think about how your anger towards your ex’s congratulations is making your new great girlfriend of 4 years feeling. If you’ve got a new girl why be mad at your ex? And why give the new girl a sense that you’re still not over the other one after shes invested 4 years in your relationship. You gotta let it go brother, or your gonna lose the current girlfriend next

Hang in there brother

Hahahaha I mean nothing really but everything in this sub is so serious all the time. If you’re attracted to her and like the sex, go for it, just do it after you agree to terms so your brain isn’t foggy.

Once you end the relationship that’s not working it provides and opportunities to focus energy entirely on parenting (and co parenting)

Don’t make any agreements. Discuss is fine but always step away before making decisions or promises

Just remember, with dating it takes time to. When you come out of a marriage your mind is programmed in a way that can make every date feel like you’re about to get engaged. Time is your friend. You’re gonna be ok.

What exactly is the fight tho? Their exes. I agree hitting the gym is great but not because of an ex. For himself
/r/Divorce_Men01/05/26 04:33 PM

She’s your ex wife…why do you care?
/r/Divorce_Men01/05/26 11:05 AM

Agreed. She could just as easily ask dad to take the kid for a night.
/r/Divorce_Men26/04/26 05:39 PM

Also- Stop driving by! You don’t live there anymore so knock that off. No good will come of it. If you have reason to go, fine. But no cruising by to peep
/r/Divorce_Men26/04/26 03:16 PM

I don’t dig on strangers staying over when the kids are home without you being made aware. She can do whatever she wants. She’s a free agent now. But the if the kids are little and moms got strangers sleeping over, that would bother me.

Post separation? I get that it hurts but I get his point to. Maybe he’s hurt because he feels abandoned again. Or maybe he’s just processing and this is how it came out. Give it a little bit of time. Divorce is hard on everyone and this could be a first reaction
/r/Divorce_Men22/04/26 05:52 PM

Then call your lawyer but get your kid a phone so he can always contact you. That’s a must
/r/Divorce_Men18/04/26 10:43 PM

Obviously we don’t know the entire story but based only on the what’s written here- Do yourself a favor and go back to court for full custody. In the meantime - Who pays for the cell phone? If you he has no say. If it’s not you, call your carrier and add a line for your son and give him the phone. Step BF shouldn’t get to take away the means of communication between you and your son:

How do you get locked in a bedroom? Bedroom doors lock from the inside? And why would you have to drive to make a phone call? Why can’t you just call from the house? This whole story doesn’t add up

Dude, smiling and talking to someone doesn’t make them a POS. What are you “covering” for exactly? Once you’re exes, you move on. That’s what you need to do for yourself and your kids. You’re upset because it’s weird seeing someone you used to be with talk to someone else. That’s all you’re experiencing. Process it and move on. Enjoy the basketball game. You want your kid to say “Daddy did you see that great play I made?”And you’re gonna have to say “No sweetie, daddy was busy watching mommy tal…

She’s your ex? If my ex was flirting with a guy I wouldn’t deal with it at all. Get ahold of yourself. She wasn’t making out with the guy. Talking and smiling isn’t inappropriate public behavior. Next time you don’t leave the gym. Next time- You stay and watch your kids game and be the adult.

If you’ve been separated it’s time to tell them. Wait til the end of school so they have summer to adjust as another commenter said. Then plan something special with them. A day trip etc. If you’re friendly with the soon to be ex, take a trip with the whole family. Kids, and you and your STBX. If you can pull off it demonstrates that you’re still going to be co-parenting them and that’s really the most important. It stresses kids to think they’re parents will be in constant conflict but it they …

Here’s the thing, the more you’re worried about who the ex is fucking, the less time you have to go out and get yourself laid. Exes are exes for a reason. You gotta move on. You’ll come out of this just fine, my friend. Take it from someone whose been there, it’s all gonna be just fine if you move on

Just keep reminding yourself that she’s your ex. And that it’s on if she moved on. If you can’t be ok with her moving on, you’ll never be ok with you moving on. And you need to move on.

My man there’s nothing wrong with going to the gym. You sound like you did all the right things. But unfortunately sometimes relationships don’t work out. You’re gonna be fine. Don’t listen to the dudes on this site. If a woman only stays with a man because he pitches a fit when she tries to go to the gym or get a promotion or whatever, then its not really love anyway
/r/Divorce_Men07/02/26 05:00 AM
-1

Doesn’t matter why they want to separate. A woman doesn’t have to stay involved with a man if she doesn’t want to. If a man is insecure and is going to equate a woman trying to improve herself automatically with cheating then I’d say she should leave and if she finds a supportive partner good for her. OP sounds like he did everything right, and even then some things don’t work out. But some dudes are so insecure on here it’s wild
/r/Divorce_Men07/02/26 04:57 AM
-2

For real. Some of the men in this sub are so insecure it’s wild.
/r/Divorce_Men07/02/26 01:38 AM
-2

So women can’t go to the gym unless they’re cheating? They can’t have ambitions at work? I mean if a woman started going the gym and her husband accused her of cheating, I’d understand why she’d start looking elsewhere. This sub should be about giving advice and lifting men up. Not pouring gas on a fire based on insecure man assumptions
/r/Divorce_Men07/02/26 01:36 AM
5

You got all this from his post?
/r/Divorce_Men07/02/26 12:40 AM

Yes but it was after our third date and she bought me dinner first
/r/Divorce_Men04/02/26 03:57 PM

A sensual object you used to share? I assume she wants to get sensual. Maybe she’s trying to tantalize you or maybe she wants to enjoy her own company. Either way, acknowledge the how it hurt and move on. Start thinking about who you’re going to share sensual objects with next
/r/Divorce_Men01/02/26 04:26 PM

And then dudes wonder why they’re women are asking for a divorce
/r/Divorce_Men01/02/26 04:23 PM

Don’t forget to pepper the word gaslighting around also
/r/Divorce_Men01/02/26 07:06 AM

Because of a couple reasons, as time goes on, we tend to remember the good things and not think as much of the bad. Which is how it should be. Holding on to hurt and anger is not good for our mental health. And you love her. That’s doesn’t go away the instant someone does something wrong. Maybe youre being a little self reflective too. What youre going through and feeling is 100 percent natural.
/r/Divorce_Men18/01/26 02:23 AM
1

I don’t know that he is and fucking their mom doesn’t make him new dad. And again I’m not sure why OP would want that. “Hey really bad person, how about you start raising my kids?”
/r/Divorce_Men16/01/26 02:09 AM
1

What on earth? Why would you want someone like that helping to raise your kids?
/r/Divorce_Men16/01/26 02:07 AM
1

Again I don’t care why he’s doing it and he probably doesn’t know himself. And it doesn’t say in the post that he lives with the kids. And I’m still not sure why OP would say “hey there guy that’s trying to pick a fight with me and runs illegal businesses, you need to help raise my kids.” Why would he say or want that at all?
/r/Divorce_Men16/01/26 02:05 AM
2

Probably to get laid but how would I know or would anyone care why he does what he does? And why would OP, who has clearly has issues with this person , tell him it’s his job to help OP raise his kids? Doesn’t make sense
/r/Divorce_Men16/01/26 02:01 AM
1

He’s not married to. He’s a boyfriend. So no. Just because you date someone doesn’t make you a co parent.
/r/Divorce_Men16/01/26 01:58 AM
3

Under no circumstances tell this dude that it’s his job to help raise your kids
/r/Divorce_Men16/01/26 01:51 AM
1

Why would he be helping to raise OP’s kids tho?
/r/Divorce_Men16/01/26 01:51 AM

It’s not the boyfriend’s job to help raise OP kids so I’d disagree that OP should state that it is

You’re always gonna miss your kids, so value and be present when your work them. Don’t let them see you upset over the divorce or transfer anger to them. If you can look in the mirror and say you did all you could to make things work, then forgive yourself and her. Granted, there’s always something more or different you could do, but let go of the anger. The hardest things to except is that if someone doesn’t want to be with us, they don’t have to be, regardless of the reason. That’s the same fo…

May I speak to you bluntly? Sorry for the tough love but too many guys on here wallow in what their ex is doing instead of concentrating on their own happiness. You said your “ex” claimed…. If she’s your ex, why do you care who she’s fucking? She could be fucking the whole Chicago Bears and all of Santa’s elves. She’s your ex. And you didn’t find her on tinder. I know it’s rough but try reframing- you’re starting a new job, which is an opportunity. You’re finding a new place which is an opportunity. You really have 2 separate issues. Your Ex’s phone issue isn’t a controllable of yours so don’t try to change her. Your daughter’s desire to hang out again as a family is both a valid and reasonable one. I’ve found that a family activity with my ex is good for the kids, and something that can be tolerated by me occasionally. Remember, it’s About them not you. So a family dinner at the local Applebees every month or every other month is not a terrible thing and your mental health will be fine. Yo…

Start acting like it

I think familiarity breeds contempt and she decided to focus on my weaknesses rather than my strengths. So for example if I fixed 9 things around the house and struggled with the 10th, she’d say I wasn’t a real man. Or if I came home from work and put off a chore til the weekend, I was lazy. I know y’all don’t want to hear this, but I’m gonna share it anyway. If your old lady cheated on you, emotionally or otherwise, let it go and move on with your life. I’m not saying don’t get divorced, but I’m saying for the sake of your own emotions, move on from it. It’s not personal. She wanted some strange for whatever reason. It’s not a reflection on you. And yes it hurts but carrying that baggage only hurts you mentally and emotionally and will keep you from being open to seeing other women…

You’re not going to die alone. There’s someone for everyone and relationships are built on shared experiences. Just know that because you’ve probably been married for awhile prospective is probably a little out of kilter. So remind yourself that not every date is your next wife. Some are going to work out and some won’t. And don’t rush anything. You’ll be fine. I’ve got faith in you

Bro- I get you’re angry. I’ve been exactly where you are. BUT- to your kid you’re a family no matter what. Say cheese and take the picture. Trust me. You’ll feel worse if you don’t and think back on it. And honestly, a preschool graduation is important to the preschooler who is really the most important person at this event.

Mom will probably occasionally hear “I want dad” too. It’s natural for kids to miss a parent that’s not with them so don’t take it personally. You can always say “before we see mom, how about we do [insert activity]?” They’ll usually have their focus shifted after that
/r/Divorce_Men01/06/25 11:08 AM

Best of luck, my friend!

Find someone that you can be in a mutually respectful relationship with or be alone. Don’t let loneliness trick you into settling for someone who treats you poorly. I was never more lonely than when I was married
/r/Divorce_Men30/05/25 12:38 PM
7

Did we not learn anything from our divorce? Cut ties and find someone else. Maybe the next one will be crazy too but you can always dump her and find another one! Remember, this is you time. You’ve earned this by going through divorce hell

I’m sorry…what??
/r/Divorce_Men24/05/25 05:46 PM

I’m not saying you’re wrong but you’re almost done. You’re so close. Don’t let her try to annoy you or her one over on you. Plus if she’s moving out you don’t want the dog ruining your house
/r/Divorce_Men23/05/25 09:27 PM
1

How long is she out that it causes extra dog work? This sounds like bitterness. Let the dog out so it doesn’t pee in the house and ruin the carpets
/r/Divorce_Men23/05/25 06:53 PM
6

Just have fun. I think we get so used to being married that we forget dates, especially first ones aren’t lifelong commitments. You’ll have a great time!
/r/Divorce_Men23/05/25 06:40 PM
4

If you’re asking if there were things in the relationship that you could’ve done better, I’m sure there were. Nobody is perfect and hindsight is 20/20. Learn from those experiences but just because you didn’t always get everything right doesn’t make something your fault. For me, not focusing on who was/is to blame but rather getting through the process and applying what I’ve learned helps. Trust yourself and what you really feel inside is your truth.

Not every state has legal separation. He should discuss that with an attorney

You do you, but in my case, it would’ve been wasteful. Confirming something you already know seems less important than finding someone new to sleep with.
/r/Divorce_Men15/04/25 10:04 PM
3

Don’t even worry about that. Who cares if she’s cheating. You’re not gonna make her feel guilty an and it’s not gonna help you out in the settlement. Trust me, focus on yourself, both keeping yourself protected and your happiness.
/r/Divorce_Men15/04/25 09:09 PM
5

Stop it. If he’s in a no fault state it doesn’t matter and even if it did, who cares? What’s the point. OP has to start worrying about his life, not who his soon to be ex is banging. Woman come and go.

Exactly- how would you know? So you made a decision because it made you feel good to tell them- Not because you thought they’d feel better. You really didn’t care how it made them feel. You told them for selfish reasons so you could tell yourself how virtuous you are.

Hahahaha seriously! I sit here and I’m completely confused as to why she’s not thrilled! She’s made it pretty clear over the last 20 years that she’s not very impressed with me and how miserable I make her. I expected her to be happy about this divorce.

My first Christmas Eve alone and it’s hitting me hard. I feel like a loser. I could go to the STBX’s family’s but I don’t what the drama or tension. I feel like it would be more tense if I was there given the animosity between me and some in-laws
/r/Divorce_Men24/12/24 10:51 PM

It’s like riding a bike. You’ll be fine. Stick to the basics. Hold off on the acrobatics and follow her lead as it relates to the dirty talk. You’re gonna do great. 👍

With all respect. You’re worried about your ex flirting with someone? Dude- i say this in a supportive way, but who cares? She’s not gonna stay celibate the rest of her life and neither should you. Get out there and flirt with some women yourself. Don’t concern yourself with things that don’t matter anymore.

Sorry, but if a guy is stalking his wife like people in this sub are suggesting, then the guy is at fault regardless of what the woman is doing. I would have zero respect for a friend that started planting surveillance devices in his wife’s car and secretly recording her conversations. What’s the point of being married if you have to spy on your wife like your James Bond? I don’t care if she’s banging the whole office, men need to act with dignity. No wonder women get protection orders on their …
/r/Divorce_Men21/09/24 09:51 AM

Sorry but that just sounds odd. If you don’t trust your lady, then roll. But under no circumstances should a man ever become a creepy stalker. And they should absolutely never break wiretapping laws and some others have suggested.
/r/Divorce_Men21/09/24 01:48 AM
5

How can all the signs be there but zero evidence? Evidence is the sign. Don’t be a jealous stereotype and start stalking etc. If you don’t trust her, then leave, but don’t be a creeper

I mean this seriously even tho it may sound humorous …. Watch an episode of Maury. Women and men both will sleep with anything that moves. You’ll find someone looking exactly as you do. If you want to make changes in your appearance that’s cool too, but don’t stress about. You’ll find someone that’s attracted to you and cares about you.
/r/Divorce_Men28/08/24 03:24 PM

I know this hurts. I’ve been there. But it helped to view it like this: it’s her right to not be into me. But now I get to be with other women and it’s pretty good. Think about all the new things you’ll get to try and the women you’ll meet. Again, this approach helped me when thinking about it, but it may not help you.

/r/Divorce_Men06/07/24 02:13 AM

Yeah because people will be on the side of a dude who gets a woman fired from her job…. And the gym isn’t his to begin with it’s a YMCA. A real man moves on with his life, and doesn’t act like a puss.

I can read. That’s how I know your take is bad. I’ve been cheated on, sure. I’ll be you probably have to. I just didn’t roll up in a little ball and cry myself to sleep like it sounds like you do. I moved on with life 😂😂.

Exactly! OP doesn’t have to get gossipy etc. He’s done no wrong. He’s just live his best life.
/r/Divorce_Men28/06/24 08:47 PM

He’s already getting a divorce. This is about whether he should give up his friends and gym and community. Why let someone force you out of things. Ya know he can actually have sex with other women now too, right? He’s gonna be just fine. Y’all act like a women cheating is the end of the world. Shit happens. Move on and find another women. There’s plenty
/r/Divorce_Men28/06/24 06:36 PM

Hahaha who hurt you? He’s gonna leave his community and friends and a gym he likes because his old lady wanted some strange? Just to prove a point? He should be in that gym picking up new women.

Where is it gonna get him exactly? He’s either gonna be the guy that can’t satisfy his wife or the guy that tattle tales on his wife to get her fired. He needs to be an adult. His wife banged around and now he’s back in the gym to work out. That’s how a man handles business
/r/Divorce_Men28/06/24 06:16 PM
0

Why would he do that? He’s gonna go announcing his issues to the world? Get outta here. Plus he brings his kids. Why subject kids to that drama? “There goes the kids of the mom that bangs in the gym and the dad that tattle tales?” Terrible take on your part
/r/Divorce_Men28/06/24 06:15 PM
0

That’s petty. He doesn’t need to stoop to that level. Hes the adult in the room.
/r/Divorce_Men28/06/24 06:11 PM

No way! She’s the cheat, why should he have to change gyms. He’s gotta roll in there like the cock of the walk. He’s not the one taking someone’s seconds
/r/Divorce_Men28/06/24 06:11 PM

A few thoughts: Don’t worry about if someone is more handsome than you. Be confident in yourself. My guess is you’re a good dude inside and out. Don’t let your insecurities feel badly about yourself. You’re valuable and someone else would love to be with you. -People cheat sometimes. I don’t condone it but it is what it is. It won’t make you feel better to go exposing secrets because as the man, you will likely be looked down on for doing that. That being said, your profile, especially with wome…

Men under 40 should never get married
/r/Divorce_Men06/06/24 01:46 AM

I’m moving forward now after decades of contempt. STBX has consistently called me a fat moron and loser etc. It’s a horrible way to live but I’ve stayed for the kids. But I don’t want them to think it’s ok to have someone treat you in that way
/r/Divorce_Men30/05/24 11:43 AM
2

Here’s the thing, my friend. If she was in fact cheating, it was over before then. The cheating didn’t end it her mind, she went cheating after she decided it had ended. Sometimes people fall out of love. She had some space when you went away and realized she enjoyed it. It’s not a commentary on you. People change. You still have value
/r/Divorce_Men29/05/24 04:37 PM
