Don’t settle until your kill count is close to 50-100. If you’re seeing a girl whose count is higher than that then she’s got issues. Most girls will be less than that so you can be comfortable

It’s a set back but no need to give up. Start with being more aggressive THAN NOW. and keep going till it gets too much then pull back. You’ll gain more skills to tell social cues. Practice makes perfect; and you WILL burn a few sets. Just don’t do anything illegal or stupid and move on when it’s clear it’s a dead end. After a few 100 sets you’ll get a better sense of things.
