Yes, "supporting actresses" is way too generous. We're either stage props, ambient noise, or literal villains. All at the same time.

They want women who can break the laws of thermodynamics. It doesn't make sense because they don't see women as human beings. We're basically supporting actresses in their delusional fantasies of how the world works.

He's not in love with her. He's in love with the ego boost he got when she asked him out and then flat out told him she's so preoccupied with him that she had to apologize for it a week later. He almost certainly pulled the "I loved you this whole time" bit out of his ass. He doesn't mean it. He wants to keep her on the hook. This almost reads like a fake revenge story written by a man. It could be true, but I keep seeing posts where men encourage women to ask men out on dates to the point where…

A huge part of building a relationship with anyone is putting in the effort to get to know them and anticipate their needs. This means taking the initiative to ask, listening to the other person, or observing that person's lifestyle and personality and making an educated guess. No one should be required to write an instruction manual on how to win their heart. Men do this all the time. They would not be able to function in society if they truly think that they need step-by-step guided assistance…

If you wanted clarity, you could've asked me to elaborate instead of making assumptions. I think it's important to actually try to understand what people are saying first before immediately tearing down what they have to say. And even if I was pro-life (which I'm not in case this gets misconstrued), calling someone else's opinion fuckery is a bad tactic for a debate thread.

I agree that the victim blaming on here is disturbing. Even if an ultimate supreme pickme woman asked to be abused, it doesn't mean this woman deserves it. Not even a little bit. I don't care if she missed every red flag and refused help. She could commit every single sin in the FDS handbook and I still wouldn't care. It's wrong to abuse people.

Blaming women for things beyond their control is entertainment for a lot of people. It's easy to play amateur detective and point fingers at a woman who has the gall to exist in public. Even more so if these women were never given the tools to handle unwanted attention from men or have no one in their lives who is actually trying to help them. Attracting shitty men isn't a natural disaster you can prepare for and it's not divine punishment for being born a woman. It's an issue with society. You …

I'm not sure where you're coming from because I agree with you. There's definitely a misunderstanding here because I'm approaching this with the labels men put on themselves. Yes, they aren't really in favor of choice. I know that. I put it in quotes for a reason. I cannot stress enough that I understand the true meaning of each stance because I made that point in my previous posts. My main point here is that I never take what men say at face value. Ever. I always question men, no matter what st…

Here's my rewrite of that post: Listen women, you've got mental issues and a body like an uncooked hotdog, but don't worry because a man would totally fuck ya. Perform a strip search on yourself after a shower because that would be totally hot. And guess what! Men also fuck women who aren't Beyonce! Thank you for watching my TED Talk.

All pro-life men are anti-choice, that's a given. What I'm saying is that "pro-choice" men deserve more scrutiny when they force abortions on women or do anything to deny their right to healthcare. Which is why a different category is necessary because abortion is such a tiny part of the problem.

I think there should be a separate category for men who are anti-choice or reproductive coercionists. This would cover men who force women to get pregnant, give birth, undergo abortions, and get sterilized against their will. They are men who tamper with birth control. They hold children hostage so women can't leave relationships. They mock women's bodies and pain during the labor process. They demean mothers by saying their bodies are ruined. All of these actions are evil and are deserving of t…

No one wants to date someone they perceive as stupid and unfunny. You're right in the belief that someone who was genuinely smart wouldn't advertise it in their dating profile, just like you wouldn't tell your barista that you don't like coffee with salmonella in it. It's a normal expectation that shouldn't even be stated. This tends to pop up on dating profiles because they know they need to fill it with something and they want to attract the highest number of women. It's generic enough where a…

The truly bizarre thing is that I'm not even friends with this coworker. I just hate it when people make stupid decisions. It's worse than watching a horror movie because at least with a movie the protagonist doesn't call me an old maid and I can turn off the TV to save my remaining brain cells. Doesn't work so well in a work environment. And I think people air this shit out at work because they have nothing interesting going on in their lives. Either that or it's a cry for help. I don't think t…

If their reasons are rooted in misogyny, it doesn't matter which side they are on. Obviously it would be preferable to go with men who have a compatible ideology, but it would be a mistake to assume that they would automatically be a better father or partner solely for that reason. It's not clear cut because misogyny is multifaceted. There are so many unique ways to hate women that it would be impossible to sort out who has the moral high ground in a debate that ultimately doesn't impact them. I…

It's weird how "ending up alone" is framed as the worst thing that could happen to a woman. I had a similar experience with a guy I was dating. He forgot and blew off my birthday to hang out with his friends. A lady from a fast food restaurant I used to frequent remembered my birthday. We randomly crossed paths that same day at another store. I actually felt way more appreciated by a near stranger than that idiot. There's no reason to be coupled up with a guy who causes so much unhappiness. If t…

You're right. They don't want advice. It is a sympathy grab or an excuse to complain. Sometimes I'll see posts on FDS like this and it rubs me the wrong way. It's almost like they're asking for permission to engage in pickme behavior and I wish they would at least be empowered enough to make their own bad decisions. Why suck other people into this if there's a predetermined answer?

That's incredibly sad that her thought process is so warped that she thinks her suffering will be a good lesson for her daughters. Girls don't need examples of bad relationships because they're everywhere. And she doesn't understand how truly devastating it is to watch your own mother being abused. There really is no way to get someone to understand.

No. You're not attracted to him. Even if there is a shortage of men who are your type, this isn't a good reason to go on a date with a guy. The only good reason to go on a date is if you want to go on a date with him. If you have to make a persuasive argument for yourself, it's a no.

This is "literary" pathetic. But also it is hilarious how this guy admits that his shit attitude and personality has prevented him from having sex for decades. Decades. I hope he's actually out of the dating pool and not just saying that to fish for sympathy. He's way too unstable to handle rejection, way too lazy to express interest in getting to know other people, and way too stupid to realize that sex isn't a party favor men receive for existing.

I am in my early 30s and I don't want kids. The whole process of motherhood is not appealing to me. It doesn't fit my personality or lifestyle. I know I am 100% capable of raising a child (even alone!) if it came down to it, so this doesn't come from a lack of confidence in my abilities or fear that I can't do a good job. I just lack the desire. I would never consider a man who wants kids. There's no way to compromise on this issue. If I wanted to take up a commitment where all of the responsibi…

I won't tell you to dump him because it's your life, but consider the following: All of his "good" traits are bare minimum behaviors. The presence of good traits does not cancel out bad traits. His excuses for not cooking don't make any sense. How is the smell coming from the process of cooking any different from the final product? Does he leave when you cook? He can't sacrifice smelling something unpleasant for a short period of time to prepare food for himself or others? This is too outlandish…

Men find it necessary to write "I like a woman who takes care of herself" because they're arrogant enough to believe their preferences matter. They treat OLD like build a girlfriend workshop where they can pick and choose qualities instead of acknowledging the fact that women are human beings. I've been told many times that I look like I take care of myself. It's not a compliment. It's a major turnoff to be visually assessed like a racehorse. I don't workout and eat healthy for useless comments …

I haven't seen this much arrogance about the dangers of the sun since the myth of Icarus, lol. Also, who told them that liver spots are a good look? Premature aging isn't considered attractive on anybody.

It may be worth it to start trusting yourself. You don't need to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that you don't like the way someone is treating you. You deserve to be with someone who makes you happy.

This guy went on one date with you and he's already bossy as hell. You definitely should've ended the date when you tried to suggest parting ways. Why finish a date with a guy when you're clearly turned off by him? Try saying no more often. Setting boundaries for yourself is not a crime.

Honestly, I can't wrap my mind around this. Even La Quinta Hotel offers free breakfast and coffee. A low-end hotel would be a better boyfriend.

He's not being respectful if he's asked for your number two more times after you told him no. You've only known this stranger for a handful of days and he's already pushing the very clear boundaries you've established. Nice people aren't controlling and they don't make you feel uncomfortable.

I've walked out of job interviews when I saw red flags. I don't tolerate bait-and-switch jobs. I don't humor hiring managers when they complain about how difficult it is to find qualified applicants or say demeaning things about current employees. I write off employers who take an excessive amount of time to come up with an offer and I don't stop interviewing until all paperwork is completed. I have also built up a savings account in case I need to leave. It's a bit more difficult to follow thes…

Commitment is not exclusive to marriage and having children. Look at other areas in the man's life. Does he have a tendency to act as if he's allergic to responsibility? I've noticed that many childfree men choose to be childfree simply because they can't stand the thought of having to spend resources on anyone else. They want the flexibility to move on to other women without having to deal with divorce or child support. This attitude bleeds into everything. I always ask men about their reasons …

I would tell him point blank that the idea does not live up to your date expectations. If he responds negatively to this, that's on him. There's no reason to walk on eggshells over a guy who can't plan a picnic.

Men love to frame this as women receiving a free meal or free gifts when it's about respect. They think it's okay to nickle and dime women they're dating. They are unafraid to ask women to pay half of their own meal, order only tap water, buy their own toilet paper and be grateful for it. But if they ever pulled this on someone they're trying to get into a business relationship with, they would be blacklisted by the company and fired. If sex is involved, why is it suddenly okay to treat a woman …

I agree that standards should be high because the bar can get so low. Not only that, but it keeps sinking after you let any amount of disrespect slide. The biggest mindset change for me is realizing that relationships are 100% optional for personal happiness. Men like to push the narrative that they're better than nothing and that being alone is terrible. The truth of the matter is that I don't need to accept anything less than the best. My purpose in life is to become the best version of myself…

The best way to handle this is to always have a backup plan. I find it a huge relief when guys cancel or flake on dates because they're filtering themselves out of my life. Instead of going on a pointless date and potentially wasting even more of my time and effort, I now have the opportunity to do literally anything else. Seriously, I find doing laundry more emotionally fulfilling than going out with someone who is too immature to honor commitments they've made to other people.

One thing that can elevate your style is having your clothes fitted properly and/or tailored. Celebrities even get white t-shirts tailored, which is why they can "get away" with such basic outfits. Since tailoring everything isn't always possible on a budget, you can change your look by tucking shirts, rolling up sleeves, adding a belt, or layering pieces together. I have played around with my outfits many times by pairing pieces I normally don't put together like mixing patterns or colors. Some…

I'm so picky that I've come to terms with the fact that I may never find anyone who is on my level. It's been a consistent theme in my life where I accomplish so much more while I'm single, especially right after a breakup. I'm no longer doing myself dirty by lowering my standards.

In addition to refusing to accept responsibility, I've noticed that childfree men tend to be incredibly misogynistic. The last childfree man I dated said that he would ask for a paternity test if I had ever gotten pregnant simply because he couldn't trust women in general. This was also the same guy who tried stealthing me when he knew I was taking a break from birth control.
