I don't mind talking about my interest in reading people; hell, that's most of the reason I'm here. It's something not entirely creepy and its a fairly good conversation topic... whereas full disclosure of sed could cause tension. I like Shpox's approach; many women know that dating is a bit of a circus these days, and some welcome the honest approach. Definitely a case-by-case basis, though. Some people are much more cool-headed / open than others.

My fix was over-articulating everything for about a month.

It's a means to an end, but tipping is sort of a superfluous subject. Why not use something like trending men's fashions (i.e. ask their opinion on Justin Bieber hairstyles, ask them how your wingman would look in one, etc). They'll show a little more personality with a question on men's fashion than asking about tipping etiquette. It's a quick way to judge how open they are, and how pretentious they are. Plus, if they say something like "omfg I LOVE JUSTIN BIEBER!!1!" you'll know to gtfo right …

I think it also depends on where you live. Growing up in rural Maine, I had no trouble picking up women just being my normal manly self. I now live in DC. Large city, very liberal, egomaniacs everywhere... and if you're not at least somewhat metrosexual, you're going to have a rough time.

Even if she were single, some women are just naturally flirty, and it really doesn't mean anything. They're the best women to get friend zoned by, since they're great for PUA practice. I would never get more involved than that, though.

Spot on. I posted this about 6 months ago, but it may be worth reposting it... I believe you got the directions confused. When they look to -their- left means they're accessing their left brain - that is to say, they're recalling information from memory/logic. The right half of the brain is the CREATIVE brain, ergo that is where the eyes innately move when trying to create a memory (like a lie). Now that left/right are sorted, eyes in the direction of up/down are usually more for deducing what i…

I second the music thing... It seems sort of immature and crazy, but I sing like mad to some alternative shit. Ben Folds, usually. I live alone, so it helps get my vocal chords warmed up... I don't exactly sing while out, but usually by the end of the night my vocal chords become strained and it gives my voice a deeper/raspier/sexier sound. Plus, if I meet a girl that wants to do karaoke, I have a decent place scouted out and my voice will be a little less shitty. Not to mention, Ben Folds just …

Keep an odd pet... cuteness scores points too. My brother has a chinchilla that is often times the focal point of conversations. Travel abroad... always a good conversation piece. The more common places (Europe) tend to be a good way to connect with others, but I wouldn't call it a way to be "interesting". Australia, Japan, India, anywhere in Africa... those make for some good topics. I've had to travel to the Middle East a few times... not exactly a popular tourist destination right now, but it…

Yeah, there's a balance that needs to be maintained. Just because you're radically honest doesn't mean you're allowed to have no tact. Don't voice an opinion unless asked for it, and you'll come off as much more friendly. Until they ask you a question, of course. Edit: And if a girl ever asks "do I look fat in this", be prepared for an ensuing shitstorm. Ladies... if you don't want an opinion, don't ask for it.

Radical honesty is the sort of thing that will get you extreme results in either direction. You're as likely to get slapped as you are to get laid. Some women are just sick of dishonesty, so for a woman to meet a dude that's completely truthful can be a big turn on. The catch is, you have to actually be completely truthful. It is very much not for some people. Turns out, I'm inherently an asshole. Radical honesty didn't work well for me. Also, a relationship based on it is completely doomed... i…

1.) Go to the gym, get into a schedule. Don't burn yourself out with a schedule that's too aggressive... just get comfortable with the gym. 2.) Get a hobby, find some facet to interact with others (in person) about said hobby. A book club, flag football team, bowling team, rock band, whatever. And talk to everyone, everywhere (except the men's room)... surprisingly, being social is the key to having a social life. 3.) Not everyone is awesome. Prepare to say "fuck it" if you meet someone that you…

Point of reference, I was a recluse... full out panic attacks in public, etc. I somehow doubt he's any more socially awkward than me. Learning to read people helped me be more comfortable in public and with the people around me. The book "What Every BODY is Saying" by Joe Navarro is a definite suggestion. It's about reading body language, and it's very very good. Also, I've seen relationships thrive on nothing more than being beautiful. It's shallow and sort of depressing from an existential poi…

This sort of dude sticks with the "I'm destined to meet the right woman on my own one day... cheap tricks be damned" mentality. I respect it, but at the same time pity it. Guessing OP's friend is similar. Best course of action is to teach them about reading IOI's... this is something they'll see the intrinsic value of and they will not see it as a sleazy way to get ahead... just something to help them save their time, or avoid misreading. From there, become more and more broad with the material …

Negging is fine if you're not directly insulting her. Give her shit about her taste in beverage or the car she drives or something. Women don't really care about that sort of thing, and negging is about showing that you are not willing to bend your own opinion just to come off as agreeable. Sometimes you can give her crap about something that she might care about a little bit, like her shoes or something, but her looks? No sir, that's how you end up dating your own hand.

I personally dislike this one. It sounds too much like something a woman would say when fishing for compliments.

Made me think of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqhkdHlCHLk It's just a formed habit, really. Every time you notice your hands in your pocket, take them out. You'll do it less and less and become more and more comfortable with just having your hands rest at your sides instead.

First thing I noticed in this post is your lack of confidence. That's the first key... you're not a mega AFC, just an AFC. 5'3" is only a bad thing if you let it be; plenty of women are shorter than that, and prefer somewhat short men as a result. You basically have an unusual advantage when it comes to shorter women that taller guys don't get... it is easy for them to see you as less intimidating, easier to see their eyes, etc. It makes you unique not less attractive. As for maintaining a worko…

This. In addition, read up on IOIs if you feel unsure... I'm sure there will be plenty of them; seeing them should help build that confidence.
