There are plenty of good responses about what he should have done if he was trying to lock her down, I was just trying to point out that the rational approach isn't always the best. In essence, and I hate saying this because I hate reducing the beautiful moments that two people share into this, but you have to play the "game"

I understand where your coming from. What can be so bad about disclosing how you feel towards a person? Problem is, Freud taught us that humans don't always behave in a rational manner, and our subconscious has incredible powers over our behavior. In essence, you can't try to appeal to her rationally, but you have to appeal to her subconscious, or emotions, and that's where being totally honest about your feelings is not the best thing to do.
