The minute you get more government involvement, individuals will suffer from increased costs and diverted funds. There are plenty of parents who utilize child support properly, and they will also be punished. I'm not against such a system, but I think it should be implemented only in very specific circumstances. And all child support cases should be initiated with education for both parents on what child support should and shouldn't be used for.

If CPS is involved, they can fight the battle on their dime. The problem is that CPS only tries to shift custody when the current situation isn't salvageable. So the mom would just have to shape up long enough for the case to be closed and he will have still gotten nowhere. And that report would be more credible coming from anyone but him. He needs to talk to school staff and encourage them to make reports when they see stuff like this. They may be avoiding it thinking the family is poor and not…

Now I envision a poor guy with sandbags draped on his shoulders, a GPS tracker on one ankle and ball and chain on the other, a corset strung tight around his middle, being force-fed acidic fatty foods and carbonated drinks. He's dreading the day the woman goes into labor because that's when they also paper cut his penis all over after punching him in the gut several dozen times until he defecates and signs over all future earnings. All the while he's screaming between mouthfuls, "Okay, abort! No…

Really, if he's that worried she's trying to steal his baby juice, why is he having sex with her?

I think it's because the law favors the need of the child to be provided for over the right of a parent not to provide for it. The child's basic needs aren't going to be dependent on what's available, so either the parents provide or the state has to. Realistically, the decision of whether the woman continues a pregnancy is going to be just as unfair as the biological fact that the woman's body will be the one to carry and birth it. It will not become a balanced rights issue until science offers…

Silly me, when my ex-husband filed for divorce, I just signed the paperwork. If only I had known that mutilating him instead could have launched me into infamy and been such a source of entertainment...yeah, nope.

Personally, I would rather be slapped than spit on. Either would piss me off, but being spit on would also make me want to vomit and shower in rubbing alcohol.

Adults maybe, but your children? And to leave that legacy behind for them? I remember reading that children of parents who killed themselves are more likely to do the same. I don't remember the source or numbers, but if it is even remotely true, why risk sending your child down that path? Is it really better to cease to exist and leave your child fatherless and with that legacy than be in debt? Even from prison, at least they still have a father. As someone who grew up without one (he died), i w…

I disagree with the other responses. A total cure is just not guaranteed. And his suicide shook me too. Not because of who he was, but because at his age and with his history and resources, I expected him to have some sort of effective safety plan in place before or when he got to that point. I've been battling depression for almost 30 years, and do not really expect to ever be "cured." I have just tried to keep plugging along for others' sake, learning as I go, exploring new treatments, appreci…

Without reading all the comments and just reading the question and answer once: The answer does not match the question, and the question was poorly written. Yes it is a potential violation. But if you answer yes, the explanation includes the assumption that it is a violation, not a potential one. The answer is also written to push a biased viewpoint. The question also states something about John being tipsy too, which suggests Mary was tipsy, not drunk. This is contradictory information and poss…

Young girls usually want to go to concerts, parties, and clubs with their friends, maybe a boyfriend or girlfriend, not a date. That takes all the fun out of it. And not all of them want to do drugs and/or get wasted, and if she does, why bother going on the date? She wouldn't need you for that. If this is your experience, maybe you're asking the wrong ones.

Don't I wish. What's wrong with a corny date? It would be different and memorable, cheaper than most, and her attention would be focused on him and the game, while he gets to see how she acts when distracted by the game. I was offering a suggestion, not a command. Does it make you feel better to focus your criticism away from yourself for once?

What about bowling, mini golf, someplace corny like that you know she wouldn't go with her friends, so they won't be there, and you will be alone together among several other people. Just warn her to dress for the event.
