| 0 | Opinions appreciated; gender and sexOk, I see. So, I’m a trans man, which means I was born in a female body but identify as a man. In my case, “women weren’t always women.” Do you see how saying that “women will always be women” might indicate that you don’t respect me and what I know to be true about myself? That I don’t deserve to be a part of men’s community? That disrespect toward me is what I’m describing as transphobia. Does that make sense? | /r/MensRights | 10/12/21 01:23 AM |
| 1 | Opinions appreciated; gender and sexThis isn’t a trans forum—it’s a forum for men’s rights, and I’m believe that should include me. This post explicitly argued that I am not a man. I think it’s cruel to tell trans men that they’re not real men. You seem to agree, so I’m confused why you’re defending this original post. The short guy didn’t demand women see him as tall because he wasn’t tall. I’m demanding people see me as a man because I am one. By making that comparison, you did the very thing you admitted was “not very nice,” wh… | /r/MensRights | 09/12/21 09:11 PM |
| 2 | Opinions appreciated; gender and sexYou, too! Take care! | /r/MensRights | 09/12/21 08:53 PM |
| 0 | Opinions appreciated; gender and sexOk, so to clarify, you don’t want to interfere in the lives of trans people or stop them from medically or socially transitioning, correct? You also don’t have a problem with, for example, trans men identifying themselves as men, correct? And, you feel you understand trans psychology and do not harbor hatred towards trans people, if I understand you. Did I get anything wrong? So, what was it about this original post that you agreed with? | /r/MensRights | 09/12/21 08:53 PM |
| -1 | Opinions appreciated; gender and sexPlease tell me how you personally define transphobic. Maybe we have different definitions, because the post you agreed with was a biological essentialism argument explicitly stating that transitioning is impossible (or in her words, “men will always be men and women will always be women”). If you agree with her that gender shouldn’t be respected and that transitioning is a farce, then you might want to reevaluate your stance if you don’t like being called a transphobe. I won’t speak for everyone… | /r/MensRights | 09/12/21 04:29 PM |
| -1 | Opinions appreciated; gender and sexSorry, did you read the original post? I’m genuinely wondering how YOU define transphobe. Please educate me. | /r/MensRights | 09/12/21 04:24 PM |
| 1 | Opinions appreciated; gender and sexOh my god, the man preaching about truth and facts can let go of his precious feeling that the world doesn’t care. There are plenty of people out there who care about trans people, you just don’t seem to be one of them. I hope that changes. In what way am I misinterpreting or misunderstanding you? When I say trans children, I’m talking about the trans teens who use Reddit. Trust me, I’ve read plenty of posts by 16 year olds desperately trying to buy hormones online behind their parent’s backs. H… | /r/MensRights | 09/12/21 04:20 PM |
| 0 | Opinions appreciated; gender and sexCongrats. You have a healthy sense of your own manhood. You’re on a sub dedicated to lifting men up—do you not feel at all inclined to step up and protect your brothers? Did you not see the post on this sub just a few days ago about a short man who was contemplating suicide because of the loads of women saying short men were garbage? Men rallied around him and lifted him up. Where is that support for the trans men here? | /r/MensRights | 09/12/21 04:12 PM |
| 0 | Opinions appreciated; gender and sexThank you, but they aren’t my “views,” they’re my existence. I’m a trans man. I care about men’s rights. How would you feel if someone on this sub told you that because of some aspect of who you are—how much money you have, how many times you’ve had sex, how tall you are—you are not a real man. I’m sure most men have been told that at some in our lives, and it sucks. Whatever, you move on. But when a woman comes into a men’s right sub and tells me—and everyone like me in this community—that we a… | /r/MensRights | 09/12/21 03:44 PM |
| 1 | Opinions appreciated; gender and sexWait, you think money doesn’t actually exist? I think we have different definitions of “exist.” What constitutes existence in your book? I believe that an idea collectively conceived and upheld by society, like money or politics or gender, “exist” in so far as they exert force on individuals and compel them to behave in certain ways. | /r/MensRights | 09/12/21 03:39 PM |
| 0 | Opinions appreciated; gender and sexBecause the post that started this conversation wasn’t logical. It was hateful and harmful. If someone says, “I hate men,” and someone says, “I agree,” are you going to engage them in a thoughtful debate? Or are you going to call them a misandrist feminazi and move on? Probably the second. (Also, you give women a bad name. See how icky that feels?) But sure, I’ll give it another try. I have the day off work. Let’s hear what it is that trans people (apparently a hive consciousness) “believe so vi… | /r/MensRights | 09/12/21 03:26 PM |
| 0 | Opinions appreciated; gender and sexLol. “One post about gender and sex.” Is that what that was? Honey, if that was meant to be a fun and intellectual conversation starter about gender and sex, you really missed the mark. DM me next time and maybe we can brainstorm something? You seem like you need help articulating yourself. Re: my skin, it’s plenty intact, thank you for your concern. I wasn’t nearly as bothered by the existence of your post (I’m well aware that transphobic people exist, no surprise there) as I was by the fact th… | /r/MensRights | 09/12/21 03:17 PM |
| 2 | Opinions appreciated; gender and sexExactly! I like to say I’m a man in a woman’s skin suit. It sounds spooky as fuck, so just imagine how spooky it feels to live like this! I’m at a point where I’m more or less comfortable with it, but there’s no doubt in my mind that I’m a man in my brain/heart/soul/wherever the hell identity lives. Thanks for asking, I really appreciate how open you are to learning about different people. | /r/MensRights | 09/12/21 03:04 PM |
| 1 | Opinions appreciated; gender and sexNo, they attempted suicide because they ARE a different gender than the one assigned at birth, and people who bullied, traumatized, and invalidated them made them feel like they didn’t belong in the world. Here’s the thing: you’re part of the “real world.” What’s clear is that YOU don’t care about people’s feelings. That’s fine. If you’re comfortable being one more voice in a chorus driving a suicide epidemic, go ahead. I’m praying for the trans children who stumble across your comments and hope… | /r/MensRights | 09/12/21 03:01 PM |
| 2 | Opinions appreciated; gender and sexI can offer a little! I was born in a female body, but the voice in my head is a man’s. Like, just imagine if you woke up tomorrow in a woman’s body (assuming you’re a man)—how would you feel? Kinda weird, right? That’s how I feel all the time! It was ok for a while, but it got old. I wanted people to see me like I see myself, that’s all. Does that help? | /r/MensRights | 09/12/21 02:19 PM |
| -1 | Opinions appreciated; gender and sexI will! While we’re on the subject, I figured I’ll mentioned that in 2015, 51% of trans people who faced discrimination—for example, being told “women will always be women” on the internet—attempted suicide later that year. But sure! Just a difference of opinion, agree to disagree and all that jazz. As long as you feel comfy and safe in your opinions, that’s all that matters. | /r/MensRights | 09/12/21 02:14 PM |
| -1 | Opinions appreciated; gender and sexOk, so the second one. Thanks! | /r/MensRights | 09/12/21 02:07 PM |
| 1 | Opinions appreciated; gender and sexLiterally google “gender dysphoria” and it will clear things up for you! If you still can’t understand, let me explain: people have experiences that are different from yours. Your experience of the world and your body is not universal. People can feel things you don’t understand, and it’s ok to respect that. Also, re: God, you’re right! God made trans women women and trans men men, they just happen to be born in the wrong body. Hope that clears things up for you. | /r/MensRights | 09/12/21 02:06 PM |
| -2 | Opinions appreciated; gender and sexCurious. Do you identify as transphobic or just quietly and passively agree with transphobic things on the internet as a side gig? | /r/MensRights | 09/12/21 01:59 PM |
| 1 | Opinions appreciated; gender and sexLol try to disagree with money and deny it’s existence. Just like gender, it was created by humans and intertwined with politics. Things don’t have to be universally correct to exist and inform our society. You have a gender whether you like it or not, just like you either have or don’t have money whether you like it or not. | /r/MensRights | 09/12/21 01:57 PM |
| 0 | Opinions appreciated; gender and sexI will kindly correct you. Sex is what you are assigned at birth based on your genitalia. Gender is what you are and how you manifest socially, which does include attraction and desired perception. Also, you’re ALMOST right—people rarely change their gender, but they do change how they manifest their gender. For example, a trans woman is a woman, always, but she might have presented as a boy/man early in life because she was born in a male body. | /r/MensRights | 09/12/21 01:52 PM |
| 0 | Opinions appreciated; gender and sexWow, this post and these comments bum me the fuck out. I read this sub every day and am a passionate supporter of men’s rights. I didn’t realize you all felt this way. I’m honestly floored. Sex is assigned at birth. Gender is a social response to sex assigned at birth. Of course gender matters, or trans people wouldn’t be committing suicide en masse. They wouldn’t be spending thousands of dollars on hormones and surgeries if gender “didn’t matter.” Of course, YOU will never be a man—you’re a wom… | /r/MensRights | 09/12/21 01:42 PM |
| 1 | From a true feminist: thank youThank you! This is so comprehensive and helpful. Already sharing it with friends. | /r/MensRights | 09/12/21 01:16 PM |
| 4 | From a true feminist: thank youIf she’s implying that her conception of “true feminism” includes advocating for men’s rights, that’s ok. That’s her definition, and it would seem to include you. If your definition of feminism excludes men’s rights, then it doesn’t apply to either of you. It’s ok for words to mean different things to different people. Also, I’d love to take you up on your challenge: what rights do men lack that women have in the US, for example? I’m a men’s rights advocate, but I would love to have a list for w… | /r/MensRights | 09/12/21 08:33 AM |
| 0 | When will men get "choice" of when they have a baby? I want a male contraceptive pill now! Those 8 choices are usually expensive, painful, and/or radically affecting hormone levels. They’re not all they’re cracked up to be. I’m not being a dick, I’m genuinely wondering: what about condoms? I know they’re not fun, but neither is the pill. | /r/MensRights | 05/12/21 11:51 PM |
| 5 | I was punched in the face by a girl and everyone laughed it off.I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this. I dealt with the same reaction from admin when dealing with girl bullies in high school and it’s really frustrating—what you went through is NOT ok. You’re right to be upset. | /r/MensRights | 04/12/21 06:25 AM |
| 7 | I was punched in the face by a girl and everyone laughed it off.I wish I could downvote you twice | /r/MensRights | 04/12/21 06:20 AM |

| -3 | Potrayal of Men's rights on S.W.A.TSure! Like I said, OVERALL the sub is great, there are just always little misogynistic gems sprinkled in. My working definition of a misogynistic comment is “makes a blanket negative/degrading statement about women as a whole.” The comments rarely get much attention, which is cool. I just did a quick skim and here are a few: “Most research and progress, historical or otherwisez were men. Women mostly limited themselves to consuming our work for little in return.” “Don't look for sympathy from wo… | /r/MensRights | 27/11/21 01:55 AM |
| 0 | Potrayal of Men's rights on S.W.A.TTotally agree with your post, except ……. There’s plenty of misogyny/women-hating on this sub. I think overall the community and mods are really great, well-intentioned, and grounded, which is why I stick around (not to mention I’m really passionate about men’s rights) but there are some very angry women-hating men who pop in and use this as a place to air their grief. I think the only solution is to downvote them into oblivion, and maybe they’ll catch on. | /r/MensRights | 27/11/21 12:22 AM |
| -1 | Now imagine if you switched every mention of “men” to “women” in this post how people would reactHer post (and some of the commenters’ replies) are disgusting and misandrist, but these are screenshots of the lower comments. The top comments are really grounded and remind her that it’s a mistake to look at posts by the worst of men on the internet and apply what you’ve learned to an entire gender, which is exactly what we would be doing if we look at her dumb/misandrist post and decide it’s representative of all women. Let’s not fall into the same traps these women are | /r/MensRights | 27/11/21 12:16 AM |
| 23 | "Reddit is making me hate men"Wildly misandrist post, but the top comments are actually pretty grounded, reminding her the most hateful voices are usually the loudest and mentioning men in their lives who inspire them/contradict the picture she’s painting | /r/MensRights | 27/11/21 12:06 AM |
| 6 | How can I tell someone that Simone deBeauvoir was crazy?Yes, and also she signed this, petitioning to LOWER the age of consent to include children BELOW the age of 15: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_petition_against_age_of_consent_laws | /r/MensRights | 24/11/21 07:18 PM |
| 2 | what is the most sexist things against men no one cares about or aknowledgesThe attitude that a man’s height determines his worth, viability as a partner, or eligibility for romantic love. Who the fuck decided it was ok for people who date men to put a height minimum on their dating profile? | /r/MensRights | 23/11/21 11:49 PM |
