Hopping onto the top comment hoping someone can link the post that OP is referencing, sounds funny as fuck

I don’t really agree with this and this goes against a lot of what I’ve learned through dating, and through reading other’s experiences. Assume the other person is also dating other people UNLESS you’ve had the talk of dating exclusively.

Awesome answer and spot on. It’s good to see someone not promoting depravity.

Good luck bro. I came from a strong family background too, parents together 40 years. I was with my LTR for 6 years before marrying. Still got divorced. I think it really jaded my views on marriage in the future. You have to be so so careful with who you go into that with, and even being careful shit still often goes sour. I wish your friend well. It’s probably hard to understand now but he will look back on this as the greatest gift he never asked for.

I love this. The festival scene helped me get over my social anxiety and insecurities with strangers. My social circle has exploded over the years because I’m willing to go strike up a conversation with anyone, old man or hot chick

Dates an 18 year old then complains she’s acting childish. What do you expect? Girls that age are incredibly immature

“This isn’t working out, I wish you the best” no explanation but go out with your head high

I’ve met some of my closest friends (guys and girls) and had some of my favorite memories through the festival scene over the last 10 years. It’s very much a party scene, but it’s also about balance. But if something doesn’t make you happy, don’t do it. Pursue things that bring you satisfaction and fulfillment in your life and you’re good

Man I hate to break it to you but there’s more to life than stacking paper. If you only spend time on things that bring you money then how can you ever justify a vacation unless it’s business related? I work on my car and take it to track days and get a ton of enjoyment out of it. That’s what life is about. It’s all cost-benefit but to simplify everything to whether it makes you money or not is a shallow way to go through life

Got a laugh out of the car one. I have a modified car but am a bro, what’s your problem with us?! Not offended, find it funny though. Have a lot more hobbies than my car though Otherwise a solid list

How do you know anything about what “life” after death will be like? No one knows, anything you come up with will simply be a fantasy you dreamed up. Life is short. What’s holding you back from enjoying it while you’re here?

This is great advice is you want to come across as a shady dude who your gf/wife will never trust. Seriously, how’s this working out for you in a long term relationship? (Im truly curious)

From first hand experience, girls who havent slept around a lot make much better LTRs than ones that have. It’s why vetting is important. Not sure why you’re swimming against very basic RP knowledge

While this is true and not bad advice, you don’t just become an investor starting out unless you are a trust fund kid, because you have no capital. Instead, you get in with a company who does real estate investment, there’s definitely a difference (source: I work in real estate private equity) OP: commercial real estate can be a solid and lucrative career if done right. Being a residential sales agent is very difficult to make a ton of money at, it is super cut throat. If you want to get into co…

Adding onto this... please seek therapy OP. There’s no shame in seeking help for such a traumatic experience, and a therapist can help you process all of your anger and hurt. Don’t think you have to do this alone. I lost my older brother to gun violence (a random killing) and it took a lot of therapy and work to get to a place of acceptance and moving past the trauma. Time won’t make the pain go away, but it will make it more manageable. Lots of love to you and your family, hang in there. Feel f…

The guy actually didn’t give awful advice. Your quick dismissal of Buddhist teachings shows your close-mindedness of something that actually does help... meditation and mindfulness. If you practiced these things you’d quickly realize that no, you’re not alone in your suffering and it’s in fact a very human condition. Women and lifting and grinding a career, all that stuff comes easy. The mental aspect of having a sound mind is where the real work goes, and there’s no quick solution. It takes dai…

I use the Headspace app each day. It’s seriously amazing and I couldn’t recommend it enough. There is a bunch of free content to get you started. It does a great job of breaking down the concepts and helping you to integrate it into your life. The guy who runs it is at a former Buddhist monk and has quite the way with words.

No worries man just didn’t want to mislead the guy into thinking it was an easy route, it involves very long hours and passion for the work. The money is there but it doesn’t come easy. Solid points other than that though.

Saying you can “easily” find a job in PE/ VC is extremely misleading. These are the most competitive jobs in finance (even beyond investment banking). Source: I work in PE with an advanced degree and busted my ass to get here, and it still took a little bit of luck (as with most successes in life)

Thank you. I already do all of these things so couldn’t help but chuckle. You’re right, it ebbs and flows as with everything in life, but recently it’s been feeling heavy.

I do that from time to time, but it only goes so far. Lockdowns and covid definitely aren’t helping. My big goal once this pandemic dies down is to grow my social circle and get new friends. All of mine are settled down, I befriended quite a bit of new friends through festivals and shows but they all live in different cities.

Meditation was the foundation of me getting over anxiety. Beyond that, a lot of reading and working on a path to enlightenment. I realized how much of my life had passed me by while living in my own head, and that the things I would stress about would never become reality or would never be as bad as I imagined. Meditation helped me to let go of those thoughts and be more present. Yoga is also very helpful in grounding you. If it’s really bad, you may want to see a therapist and work through why …

Was in a long term relationship, discovered trp in college (during relationship), thought we were different, married, still divorced 4 years later (no infidelity but constant issues between us), still navigating it all with new relationships post divorce but determined to not get burned again
