1	No bias here, move along That's still dismissive in my book. The 'boring, onerous math' is equally as vital to the success of the mission as the engineering. You could make the argument it's more easily replaceable, but not any less significant. Also, that desktop pc would be using code based on the math women like those ones were doing. At the end of the day, everyone one the team could have been replaced and NASA would have launched their rockets eventually. 1	No bias here, move along It was actually that mathematics was seen as women's work for much of scientific history. Several significant astronomical discoveries are credited (officially or unofficially) to women because of this. We still use the math that was pioneered by women in the software we use today. There were also instances where women were employed to do calculations and analysis because they were cheaper than men.
