I agree this post was misguided. See my original comment in this thread. However, I think it is important to address your comment as well. This person does not speak for me. Because moderates are generally averse to these types of communities, I feel compelled to post a more moderate viewpoint. These are important discussions, and I am part of a demographic that rarely wishes to engage in these discussions.

I think you should read my comment directly responding to the OP. I do call out behavior I don't agree with, even if I can ascertain that I agree with them on larger issues.

Yes I do. I also believe we experience these gendered paradigms on a fluid basis. Please don't corner me in based on the vocabulary I'm using either. I'm new to these discussions, so I work with the vocabulary I have right now while also realizing this vocabulary often seems loaded given the broader discussion. But to provide an example: a man I consider a friend who often told me I was too masculine to be desired by any man I'd be attracted to did break down in front of me. It just happened. Hi…

It doesn't prove anything about women. You are generalizing here. It does prove something about our culture, and the currency of outrage we promote, which in turn devalues true discussion on important issues. I'm not demonizing you either, nor am I demonizing the OP. Just trying to offer a perspective I really wish I saw more of.

You would probably call me an SJW. I most likely disagree with you on most issues related to race, gender, whatever. But if it counts at all, I do believe that it's wrong to send death threats to anyone, regardless of how much I disagree with them on political or cultural issues. I can't speak for everyone of course, and I'm very disturbed by the radicalized nature of these discussions. But I also feel moderate people just aren't speaking up enough right now. I'm solution and goal oriented, so t…

Hey, we probably agree with each other on most things. I actually find TRP to be very disturbing for reducing women to stereotypes. I am a woman, and I value free expression in general as well as respect for each other as human beings. I don't think your post is very helpful. I've experienced rape, stalking, and threats from men. These are terrible experiences and I have great empathy for people who experience this too. But I am also solution oriented. Our society desperately needs more nuanced …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
