I meant the majority of reported rapes in a society of free people. I'm not trying to dismiss prison rape, I just think it's somewhat of a separate issue. Not completely separate, because rape is still rape no matter what, but it's occurring in a completely different context. Admittedly, the psychology of rape and all the different contexts where rape can occur is not something I'm an expert in, and if someone here is, I welcome your input.

I don't want that to be the reality of our world now. I don't want men to feel attacked simply because they're men - we are all so much more than just man and woman, it's indescribably silly to have that sort of division. I don't want women to be the small people with the magic, if that's what you're getting at...

I agree. I am a victim of pretty bad domestic abuse, and yet I still get angry at the double standard between men and women. It's tough though, it's really tough. While I think replacing "men" with "blacks" and "jews" is not exactly analogous (mainly because, while yes some blacks may steal and some jews may be cheap, those are by-and-large racist stereotypes... on the flipside, the overwhelming majority of reported rapes are man-on-woman... but more on that below), I do see your point. Hannah Moskowitz is a young YA author whose books primarily feature male protagonists, and she's discussed this gender imbalance among YA. Pretty interesting stuff, actually.
