I agree with the sentiment, but posting a list of "things they say" which can be easily challenged doesn't really mean much. The ideals, as I understand it, include courtesy, honour and protecting those who are unable to protect themselves. Given at the time attitudes were that women are weak and need protecting, it makes sense that this is how the concept would be implemented... that shouldn't have any effect on the idea's relevance to modern society.
