But if you actually look at the code, most of it (almost all of it) is generated. LOC is a meaningless metric. The research paper is by far the most important thing here. Anyone who spends 5 mins writing a program knows that most of it is just reused code that someone else wrote (functions, libraries, etc). Only if you’re doing something generic and reusable. The new kid spent 5 minutes and doubled our LoC. It doesn’t mean he contributed half as much. The hardest part of any codebase is the algorithm. That was her PhD and her brainchild.
